No worries. Yea we are in the same boat, we got a few members of our community who didnt have it yet and were unsure if they would like it but were going to wait for stand alone, for a tenner this is a bargain.

Retail version - you get an awesome pull out map!! wooooo! Seriously, steam for convienience probably.

I try to avoid it as much as possible and prefer to give people the benefit of the doubt. My play style when I'm lone wolf is probably similat to the OP's, in that I will avoid conflict as much a spossible, mostly by simply avoiding people and when i do come into contact I simply greet them if possible (and I have a quick escape root/weapons to protect myself if things go south!). if they are hostile looking, i will simply try to avoid them unless tehy see me first in which case theres no alternative but to engage. I'm not that good at PvP though simply because I dont do it enough! I do however enjoy the danger it introduces into the game and the fact that you never know other players intentions, motives and goals. The risk otehr players present is enjoyable, for all I dont particularly enjoy the actual fighting part!

Hi, welcome to the community! The game has in-game comms mate which only works in proximity of your character. Most people use their own or the server groups TS3 servers. For example we have 2 Day Z servers (Public and Private Hive) but also provide a free Public TS3 server for our server users to use. Hope you enjoy the game once you start playing.

I kind of hope we dont get innundated with new additions for SA, if only to avoide the mass wave of peopel swarming the shiney new release. I want to play with and against fans of the series ratehr than nuggets who dont have the first appreciation of what Day Z is about.

We got servers @ The BSB Network. We've been gaming as a community since 2002 so we're not a fly by night clan or group and we intend to have servers for standalone and the mod for the foreseeable future, well into next year. Remember it is an official Day Z Hive server so we are kind of limited as to what we can do but we do also have a private hive Day Z Taviana server running that is also awesome, in fact I prefer it to chernarus as its more varied and balanced. We do have much greater control of this server.

If you're interested in getting a few games in with us just log into the TS3 server (address in my signature) and join one of the Channels. Lets face it, the target date was "before the end of the year" a few months back, i genuinely don't believe they intended it to be literelly the last few days though so I'd say it's fair to assume it's been delayed yes lol Especially as i say since they are talking about changes to a games' architecture. I think we will be talking next spring/summer to behonest at the earliest. Remember Rocket is human, his team is relatively small, it's christmas and new year, he's meant to be climbing Mount Everest come february ( that needs preperation time!) I think we have a reasonable wait yet! Lets just calm down and enjoy Day Z mod!

No necessarily, it's often the case that things rarely live upto anticipation. The more hype, the bigger the expectation and then the harder the fall! I recon Day Z Stand Alone will be a good game though, even in it's early stages,but I do think some people on these forums have some really high expectations and I dare say some of them will be the ones making cry threads shortly after release! As I said earlier, it's pretty late in the day to be making changes to the game's architecture, surely this is something you do when you start the project....? If it needs to be done then fair enough, but it is going to have an effect on the release date though, it's a pretty big deal I'd say!

Rocket did mention that disease will play a more important role in the game, with areas of concentred population being more dangerous because of the decay and even human feces! I think it sounds promising.
