What do you feel like when you kill someone?
boxman80 replied to Watermelon56's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Depends who it is. If it's someone hostile or who has been killing me or my team mates, im usually quite happy and pleased with myself. When i'ts someone who has ventured a bit too close to something im doing and dont want to be disturbed or compromised, I feel guilty and bad for them. We killed a guy who had just run the full length of the Taviana bridge (for the second time!) the other day because he was armed and too close to where we were refuelling our vehicles. Felt really sorry for him. -
Day Z is about experiences and stories, not awards, levels and achievements mate. That shit just gives players an excuse to cheat.
-
I find them really common in Day Z Taviana. They are in standard residential spawns. In Original Chernarus, I seemed to find them the most in Castles. I must say though I prefer the camo clothing and the 15% armour protection it gives, it's saved me a couple of times.

I'd love to "learn" some common script commands, but as I said inthe original post, are tehre any decent starting points, tutorials, guides etc? Also which logs are the ones to be even looking at?

Looking for a clan to join on dayZ
boxman80 replied to Jakeen229's topic in Clan / Group Recruitment
Hi, you are welcome to check us out at The BSB Network. We have around 1700 registered gamers, 400+ of which are Day Z gamers. The community is mostly adult gamers over the age of 20 (well over in most cases!) but there are no age, time or skill requirements - all we ask is you play fair and have a bit of common sense about you! Our members are based all over the world and are on at all times of the day and night, but all speak English and most are based in the UK and Mainland Europe with some in the US too. We aim to accommodate gamers of all levels; from those who just wish for the occasional hook up with trustworthy decent people, to gamers looking for dedicated groups or clan gaming with regular and organised tactics. We host various ad-hoc groups teams and clans as well as our own internal clan that has it’s members organised into two opposing Factions (BSB Scorpions & BSB Ravens). We run our own Taviana server (with many admins, loads of vehicles etc) also have our own free public Teamspeak 3 Server so our community can communicate and coordinate their scavenges and raids. We've been gaming as a community since 2002, so we're not some ad-hoc fly by night clan that's been quickly set up and will be gone in the blink of an eye! There is no obligation to join our clan or any of our affiliated clans/groups to take part in our sessions though, everyone is free to just turn up and get involved with some games. If you're interested then please take the time check out or website @ http://www.bsbnetwork.com and try to hop on our Teamspeak 3 server and say "hi!". Our Teamspeak address is below (click on it to see who’s online playing right now! 212.187.246.58:9140 Our Day Z server details are: Hope to catch you in game soon! -
Taviana 2.0 Euro Survival - looking for more small groups, clans and bandits!
boxman80 replied to boxman80's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Server ticking over nicely but we could always use a couple of new faces! -
[Idea] Trains bring them back into gaming!
boxman80 replied to de4dcert's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
You do get diesel trains you know, especially in these harsh eastern European states. Might be an idea to have a couple of them usable sure, but i cant see many people wanting to use them as basically everyone would know where you were going and ambushes would be really easy to set up. Also tracks would be really easy to block with cars, tank traps etc. -
Calling All REAL Bandits & Lone Wolves
boxman80 replied to boxman80's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't have a secret base.....? On another note, the bandits on the server have taken a bit of pasting over the last two days with the team I've ran with chalking up 8 kills of randomers/bandits. Sorry to the guy we tagged who had run the length of the bridge too, but you were a bit of a risk mate. -
Poll: Do you think, ones the SA is out, there will be and pros for playing A2 DayZ?
boxman80 replied to tals975's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Day Z SA wont support private hives from the off. Chances are it will only launch with official servers too. Finally and more importantly, there will only be ONE map for stand alone. I would imagine Stand alone it will be very similar to the Mod right now, with more features being added over time. I think people are expecting too much of it and seem to think it will be launched with everything Rocket said he would LIKE to have in the game eventually. The mod will will probably remain popular as it is more of a testing ground, with many different strains exploring different maps, features and expansions. I know I'll certainly remain laying it - i'm still loving the mod and in no hurry for the stand alone! -
I play mostly on our Taviana server now which is much easier than Chernarus to keep camps concealed. However, from my time playing public servers I'd just reiterate some of the good advice already given on this thread as well as add some of my own advice; - First thing to realise is your camp IS going to be compromised and someone will eventually find it. Shocking I know, but it's inevitable. That sink in? good, now deal with it and read my next tip... - Keep it simple. As already said, the most obvious areas such as way up north or on the west coast are the first place you go when hunting camps! Try and find somewhere else that players go to but perhaps don't expect a tent. - Why put all your eggs in one basket? I always have more than one camp around the map (usually 5-10!) and spread my gear out as much as possible, circling my time around the map, updating and equipping from each camp. That way if and when the camp is discovered, you only lose a fraction of your overall loot. Also the more camps you have, the less you actually need to store in each, and again, the less you lose when they're compromised! - Always keep vehicles away from tents. I normally have mine around 300m away from each other. Similarly, space your tents well apart if you have more than one in a location. That way if/when a player stumbles upon your tent/car, they wont immediately see the other tents/vehicles at your camp. This works well, only last week I had someone stumble upon and steal half broken mini-van with just some ammo and food in (leaving the car they were travelling in at the time behind) at one of my camps and in the excitement of it all, they missed my 3 tents, 1 offroad and 1 ural which were all spread around the area and had decent weapons/kit in. - Never show anyone your camp!Unless of course you are in a group/clan and clan mates you trust. It will be raided! - Try to get camo or dull coloured vehicles. It really makes a difference! - Always write down the coordinates of your camps/vehicles. Saves time later! - Don't bother with barbed wire, tank traps or sandbags - it just gives your camp away more from a distance. - Study the map and try to imagine the pathways people take to various points of interest Try to picture lines being drawn across the maps along the likely routes people on foot or int he air will take. Now look for areas between these lines, those are the places to consider your camp. - Its tempting to set up camps near land marks to identify where your camp is - don't. It acts like magnet to people. - Fur trees are your friend, but they should only be used for directional cover, not total concealment! - Fill spare slots in your tent/car up with as much DIFFERENT kind of items as possible, lots of real low value shite, food, crossbow bolts, shotgun shells, empty water bottles anything really. The reasons for this are first of all people are usually in a hurry (especially new players who will already be nervous and jittery and worried there is someone in the area!) and they will surprisingly just scan through the inventory for things they want. The more shit you have in there, the more likely they are to to miss something of value. Secondly, they are more likely to think it's a "noobie" camp and not give it as much attention as they should! It's worked for me a couple of times.

Are you for real? it will be fine

Same could be said of cows, wild boars, sheep, goats, chickens,.... oh wait they are already there!

{THI} The Hoarders Instinct| 2-3 Players! Private Hive
boxman80 replied to Freshling's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
We can provide you with a free channel for your TS if you want one mate. We have our own constant and stable (and populated) TS3 server, im sure it would help promote your server too as some of our community would be curious and interested in joining your server. Let me know if you are interested. -
Kayaks would be great, especially inflatable ones or small fold able ones you could carry. Would really add a dimension to base/camp building. Would work best if there were more small islands round Chernarus Plus, maybe 30-50 small islands at varying distances off the coast for players to use as bases.

What do you think chemlights are? Not a bad idea for a melee weapon, wouldnt be surprised if this was put into the stand alone game. No. Daft idea, food, drink, weapons and bullets already act as currency. What use would a gold brick be to you in a post apocalyptic world? Again, bit daft how you have suggested it but amphetamines and energy drinks and possibly even coffee could be added for quick fixes if a players fatigue levels were incorporated into the game, i.e. a players aim, speed, vison etc became affected by their food and rest levels. Id like to see beer and cigarettes being incorporated into the game as a means of getting humanity and to show you're friendly to other players.

Been playing since release so heard loads of players talking about lots of different legends and myths, my favourites include; - The Bear/Tiger/Lion/Rhino(!)/Big Cat that randomly spawns inthe wilderness and kills players. - The ghost car - a car randomly spawning in the wilderness that cant be entered but moves of its own accord! - Night vison goggles - Sounds silly now but when the game was first released there was loads of jabber in game about them being out there somewhere! - The secret island off the map on chernarus - The ghost ship ( a ship seen sailing by on the horizon) - The jason vorheese/psycho killer (usually a hacked in skin and god mode hacker) - THe creepy girl/psycho killer who plays creepy nursery rhymes over voice comms in the middle of the woods in darkness and kills players (again as above) - The ghost cupboard (a semi transparent cupboard in one of the houses) - The message (a note left on a table in an unenterable building but visable from outside) - The radio, a radio found at green mountain that regularly receives coordinates regularly for deer stands - The ship wreck loot a shipwreck underwater that spawns loot - The shark , attacking players who dare swim off the coast - The oil rigs of taviana (confirmed!) - The unkillable zombie, spawning rarely in the woods that attacks players and cant be killed. It has a custom skin and moves slower than normal (apparantly!) - Big foot Most of them are clearly made up and funny now (but not all of them!) but remember to keep them in contexts - laods of new players over a long period of time, particularly during the end of the summers wave of players and hackers, they were all seeing some wierd things and didnt know what to expect!

In response to teh post title i'd have to say in my opinion the best all round weapon and most useful weapon I've used is the M16 ACOG. It's really under rated, it has awesome range (800m makes it a decent DMR, all be it not as powerful as it's counterparts), a decent scope, common mags (which makes up for the lack of power) , useful zombie killer, adaquet weapon for supressing or even killing people, not too noisy, looks like a common M16 froma distance. I really think it's a fantastic subtle weapon. Other than that I usually try to aquire and keep hold of an M4A3 CCO and for sniping I prefer the M107. Side Arm I love the 1911 and always have one, useful for zombie killing and the occasional clipping of players.

Best DayZ Map/Mod for Rocket's Intended Play Style (Survival)
boxman80 replied to UsuallyFriendly's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Taviana without doubt. It's miles bigger than Chernarus (and any other map), there are more lootable buildings, more different types of buildings and each city is decent to loot and survive. There is also loads of wilderness too, including massive mountains/volcanoes! Check it out.
