  1. oh noes.... :( yea we're looking at moving to them from Vilayer. Vilayer have been good to us, dont get me wrong, but there seems to be more on offer from dayz.st for only a few pound more plus their support of our preffered map, Taviana seems much better.
  2. does this happen a lot with Dayz.st? I was thinking of moving to them ...

    problems

I personalyl dont like the M14 and Im not crazy about the M107 unless there's a lot of vehicles on the server. My perfect weapon load out is a 1911, an M4 Holo or an M16 ACOG and an SVD Camo/as50 (on high vehicle servers).

    A wild idea.

The worry would be, Alpha/pre-alpha is a critical time of testing and what not, many people would pay to play as early as they coul d(and save themselves a few pennies) and either not help with the bug testing and fault finidng or complain 'cos the game was full of bugs. This would probably defeat the object of having the alpha testing in the first place.

    *LFG * Oldschool Dayz player

We have quite a number of NA players mate. Details in the forums.

    A wild idea.

As Im not interested in detailed bug feedback and fault finidng, I'm only interested in playing teh game (and enduring any 'Work In Progress' bugs), I'd just wait for alpha release.

    Despair, and full! :(

Tweak your settings to reduce video strain? Just because you can play with settings on max doesnt mean you should. Or maybe stick to the more common maps like Chernarus as some are worse than others. Only other thing I can suggest is to wait for Stand Alone and better optimisation?

    differnt zombies (zombie species)

Different behaviour and differnt models are certainly something we're all interested in. Be nice to see some that lurk in dark areas, some that have missing limbs maybe etc.

    Crashed Heli - No Loot

Who is the server host and what map is it? Just I know Vilayer were having this issue with their Taviana servers, but thres a patch to fix it just been released.
  10. There were issus with our host and Taviana, i've been told theya re resolved now and a patch is available that will fix them. We'll see wednesday when I install them.

    differnt zombies (zombie species)

I know but last year, early after release there was an issue with one of the patches that meant thre were many more zombies than intended and you could never lose them - they just followed you forever unless you killed them. For me that was a little better and it will hopefulyl be something that's given more and more attention in the stand alone release.

    So, uhm...Balota Buddies?

I was thinking of renaming our community to Cherno Chums or Mogilevka Mates.

    So, uhm...Balota Buddies?

They are a good bunch and a stable community, one of the few groups I would recommend.

    differnt zombies (zombie species)

For me,a s a fan of the whole zombie fiction genre (movies, books, games etc) the main threat and attraction of zombies as the enemy is that they maybe slow, unintelligent and easy to out think and meanouver individually or in low numbers but their strength as a threat comes in their numbers and the the relentless pursuit (because of their lack of intellgence). They basically swarm anything that moves and continue to do so till either it's gone or they are dead. Their attrition is also anotehr strong factor to their menace - they are practically unlimited in their numbers and ultimately the advantage they have is that any survivor or group will eventually run out of bullets or supplies before their attack or threat reduces. That for me needs to be reflected in the game better. I think we need to go back to the early days of the mod where it was very difficult to lose a train of zombies and they would pursue you relentlessly, on mass!

    differnt zombies (zombie species)

Exactly. My point was you could be shooting inflatable dolls for all the difference it makes for these types of games - which is fine, they are afterall primarily "shooter" gamers, that's the genre of the game. But they aren't in the same genre as Day Z and their style and content doesn't really have as big a place within it. In Day Z the main aim isnt purely to just go around blasting different types of bad guys, with the challenge deriving solely from that and therefore having a need to have different "flavours" of bad guy with varying levels of difficulty. Day Z is purely about surviving your own way! In a way it's irrelevant having different types of zombie anyway as they are only an environmental element , a single piece of a bigger puzzle within the game and each players approaches them in their own way. Some people chose not to even engage the zombies, some only at certain times of day, otehrs with certsin weapons, some prefer to stay away from towns and the dead all together. I'd agree with the others who said possibly have some infected dangerous animals on the map, such as infected dogs. A t a stretch I might even be won over by having solider zombies be a bit more difficult to kill (because of body armour), that might be interesting but having "super zombies" would detract more than it would add in my opinion. The game would be less immersive and more arcadey.
  16. Welcome to the game mate, sounds to me like you're the type of discerning player it was aimed at! Glad you got some assistance upon playing, not everyone out there is out to get you! If you ever want to tag along witha few other players feel free to check us out on our server or website (no obligation to join the clan), we're always happy to help out a few Bambi's and show tehm teh ropes. We also run the Taviana map, which in my opinion is the best map for Day Z given it's a more urban map with many more points of interest and much larger than the rest. Other than that, good luck with your exploration of the mod and hope you continue to enjoy it!

    Skins

I wonder how long it will be before a mircro-transactions system will be considered for unique, cool, custom items of clothing though.... I'll be disapointed if we see a load of santa clause survivors running around at christmas times.

    Realistic Repairs

Anything that create more diversity and a more varied player objective is a great idea in my book.
  19. boxman80

    Skins

There are more individual items of clothing coming mate. Rocket mentioned that eventually there will be hundreds of items (hopefully), so tehe wont be "skins" as such how they are now, you will be able to have diffrent combinations of hats/helmets, chades, shirts, pants, boots/shoes etc.
  20. boxman80

    Realistic Repairs

It defiantely has been mentioned before (I know I've commented on topics about this before) but that doesnt mean it's not a good idea and shouldnt be taken seriously. I completely agree there should be more diversity in loot, especially for vehicle repairs. It SHOULD be difficult to source and repair componants of vehicles. As you say, at the very least there should be different types of tires for different types of vehicles - truck wheelse, off road wheels, bike wheels etc. etc. It should also take more time to pysically fit and take more time/weight/slots to transport componants, particularly large and heavy parts such as engine blocks. This subject ties in nicely with the idea of taking componants from other vehicles too as well as an in-game inventory system based on a weight limitation for characters. You should be able to take parts form otehr cars but you shouldnt eb able to wander around carrying engine blocks and spare wheels in you back pack!

    differnt zombies (zombie species)

Thats exactly what you're meant to do; play Doom/Resident Evil 63/other random generic zombie shooter game when you want a gore-fest action packed thrill ride of a bullet festival. Play Day Z when you want a game aimed at a more discerning audience featuring a post appocolypse zombie survival. Day Z is what YOU make of it. If you have ran out of things to entertain you or challenge you in the game then it's because of your lack of imagination.

    differnt zombies (zombie species)

Nah, sounds more like the Left 4 Dead with "boss" zombies like witches etc.

  24. Still looking for mature and fair gamers for social gaming. Details @ http://www.bsbnetwork.com
  25. Hi folks, I thought I'd extend this invitation to any decent groups, clans or even individuals who are interested in taking part in our weekly event, hosted on our own private server. The event is hosted by our own community, The BSB Network and is called "Faction Wars", it's mostly a fun event (not to be taken too seriously!) and is aimed at getting some structured objective based play for our regulars, giving them something to focus on and prepare for through the week. We're into our second season of "Faction Wars" now and the event was initially conceived primarily for our own two in-house teams. However we've found lately more Lone Wolves and Private Teams (PMC) are getting involved and this has really added to the fun of some of the events, particularly the first game of the new season which was last night. There are 7 more events planned, resuming on 31st of March. For full details and a list of the up coming events visit our "Faction Wars" page on our website; Scheduled events: http://www.bsbnetwork.com/factionwars Events include "The Death Rally", "Fugitives", "King of The Skies" and "Seek & Destroy". Anyone who wants to get involved can either apply to join one of the dedicated factions or they can contact me and register their own PMC. All we ask is that you are a legitimate player and you have a bit of common sense about you. There are some event specific rules, again just mostly common sense. The games are always hosted on our own server and we also have a public comms server for players too. Server: Website: Http://www.bsbnetwork.com
