ARMA 2 and Day Z mod (as well as Wasteland and other mods) justify buying it now. As others say you will get practice and a feel for the game anyway. Besides that I do feel the Day Z mod may remain steady fora while yet, even after Stand Alone's release!

Please dont hijack other threads to divert people to your own clan/server! You wouldnt like it if people did it to you.

lad to hear you are loving the game generally but yea the bugs in the mod do get you really frustrated. As you say we can only hope for more stability in Stand Alone. Personally I think there are more than enough good things to outweigh the bugs and more frustrating points in the game. The only thing that has disappointed me over the last year really is how the mod has lost momentum since the decision to go Stand Alone was made.

Good luck with your group. If you are looking for a server or to partake in regular (weekly) events with your hero pals our community server could do with some more hero/bandit hunter types. We have two factions of members, Scorpions (Bandit/KOS types) and Ravens (Hero/Bandit killer types) that compete against each other through the week and then duke it out in a weekly competitions (which are different each week). The events are open to both our own two factions as well as Private groups and lone wolves. We could do with a few more heroes showing up and getting involved, helping the smaller teams out or just doing what they can. If you're interested PM me.

Kings of the Sky Event: Objective: Secure your team's chopper/plane and destroy all other air vehicles. The most points wins. Only kills made with aircraft on airbourne players (or players who have ejected from an aircraft) will count, so only aircraft vs aircraft kills will count. 1 point per player killed 2 points per chopper knocked out of the sky (crashes occurring during combat count as kills) Rules: Anything goes apart from kamikazee Each faction should have the location of their factions stash of choppers available on their forum board now. Extra Planes and choppers will also be available at all the air fields for lone wolves and PMCs. All the aircraft spawned for the event will be deleted/removed over the next few days. Aircraft will be available from a reboot at 8pm! Location: BSB Taviana Server. Each faction will be provided with several choppers. Any PMC that pre-signs up to the event will also be provided with several aircraft. Lone Wolves or players turning up once the event has started will have to source their own aircraft (increased aircraft will be provided temporarily) Date & Time: Sunday 7th April 8:00pm - 10pm (GMT) Faction and PMC players should arrive 7:30pm. Event starts 8pm (GMT) after reboot. Event closes at 10:00pm.

Heya mate you should check us out @ the BSB Network http://www.bsbnetwork.com We've got our server with custom stuff on, our members are separated into two factions (Ravens and Scorpions) that compete with each other through the week with a things escalating for the weekly events (Every sunday). We also have lots of Private groups and lone wolves competing in the faction wars event. We're a mostly adult clan that have been gaming together since 2002 and supported Dayz SINCE April last year (so we're stable!!!) and will be supporting Stand Alone upon launch. Our server is on long term lease so it won't be gone next month like most and we're constantly updating it with all kinds of custom things such as custom buildings bases, towing scripts, updated vehicles spawns, weapons, base building etc etc. We have our own popular and active website as well as our own Comms server for people to use when gaming (mumble). Our members are based mostly in the UK and Mainland Europe (Norway, Sweden,Denmark, Holland, Belgium, Germany etc.) and all speak English.
