Welcome back. Its pretty straight forward to get Day Z working with Day Z commander, shouldnt take you long. The mod is pretty good still, updates aren't coming as fast as they were but to be honest it doesnt matter as private hives allow much more freedom in terms of modifications, scripts and customisations. Main hives are pretty much dead thanks to the wave of script kiddies and insufficient administration rights, which is a shame, but private hives are very much alive and kicking. Check out a few of the more well established hives. Theres various different "flavours" of Day Z out there now, Day z+, Redux, Origins, 2017 etc. all offering cool features and additions. Theres also a lot of custom maps converted to Day Z now too. Its worth checking out anyway.

Its still very popular with a good amount of players. However there's a lot of servers, more than there needs to be. Private hives are the way to go at present purely because they are better protected against hackers. You need to join a stable and well established hive though as many servers are only around for a few weeks before the owners kill them because they arent immediately populated, or they get bored! The private hives I can recommend that seem stable are Day Z Redux (a modified version of Day Z), Balota buddies (white list protected and regional servers) and of course our own at BSB Network (http://www.bsbnetwork.com)

Depends what server youre on, those maps are for main hive servers and even then they are only possible spawns, doesnt mean they will spawn there.

Depends on what scripts/addons you are adding mate. Most dont need to be added to the Rmod folder (I havent used any so far that do, but Im not sure what mods you are adding). The screen splash is easy; you just add your splash screen int eh root of your missions .pbo and add loadScreen = "yourfilename.jpg"; to the config file.

It will lift off even with jsut a little fuel but it will quickly need refueling or it will dropout the sky.

Excellent review, really good read. I must admit, as I've said on other weapon threads before, I tend to look out for M16 ACOG myself as I've always rated it as the best all rounder in the rifle department. I find it invaluable for loner range scouting and conflicts, plus from a distance most people presume it's just a regular M16 and usually underestimate your capabilities, this give s you a bit of an edge. I'm going to check your other weapon reviews now! Well done sir!
