Calling All REAL Bandits & Lone Wolves
boxman80 replied to boxman80's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
yes it's regularly got players on but most nights theres at least 15-20 people on and it does peak beyond that as well as it steadily increasing week by week. -
No worries but as i say we get a lot of people tagging along with us who just want to casually run with some of the lads. Thats not a problem if you want to do that theres no obligation to join our clan or in-game factions.

Howdy fella, check us out @ http://www.bsbnetwork.com We're an adult gaming community based in the UK that's been around since 2002 and supported Day Z since launch and will be doing so well into Stand Alone. We have our own Day Z server (ona long lease so it wont be gone within a few weeks), our own Comms servers (mumble/TS3) and our Day Z players are divieded into 3 Factions (Bandits/Heroes/Mercs) that compete against each other in several ongoing events for prizes. That aside we're a friendly bunch who like a laugh and a bit of banter as we play, nothing too serious really. We have no silly rules, requirements or trials - all we ask is for common sense and fair play! If you fancy checking us out, you ar more than welcome to come along and get a few games in with us, no obligation to join. Best jump on the comms server though so you can hear whats going on and get to know some of the lads. If you need help send me a PM mate

It's Back - PvP Event Bounty Hunterz Event - Open to everyone
boxman80 posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I am delighted to announce the return of our popular Bounty HunterZ event on our Day Z server! For those of you who aren't aware, Bounter HunterZ was an event we ran last year successfully for a number of months. The BSB Bounty HunterZ event is a weekly event designed for our Day Z players. The idea of the event is that a weekly "hit" list is posted here for our Faction members, private teams & lone wolves with several "targets" to be killed/captured and/or several other objectives. Participants can claim bounty funds by completing the objectives, or by surviving (when they are the targets!), which are announced each week! Bounty funds can then be used to purchase weapons, ammo, vehicles, tools, building materials, consumables etc. from our Faction Store. Hits are only active when on our server and rewards can only be claimed from action on this server. Anyone is free to volunteer as a "target" but they must be active on our server (we can check!) and they cannot claim a survival reward if they are deemed to be inactive. Full rules apply and can be found at the webste @ http://http://www.bsbnetwork.com/bountyhunterz Server -
This is true and my point entirely, they are a double edged sword; on one hand they offered much better control over cheaters and were a means to an end of what seemed like an out of control wave of cheats, trolls and hackers. They also offered a haven for the more main stream gamers who wanted a "softer" Day Z or a more customised game. However it opened the door to more problems such as admin abuse, over softening of the game, hideous customs, watered down content and just making it too easy! Dont get me wrong, we have had public and private hive servers and have opted to stay private hive, so i'm not bashing private hives, i just think Day Z was desigend and runs best on public hive and i'm looming forward to the community going back to it on mass, as well as the improvements that have been put into stand alone after the harsh lessons of last year.

nah, we've got an entire team of them. I personally think it's a phase most players go through...

Private hives introduced more problems than they resolved in my opinion. That's not to say all private hives are saturated with over powered customsas thres a good number out there that are really well balanced but I do look forward to returning to public hives in SA I must admit.

Nice picture. Good luck with your quest.

The big "why the standalone will win" thread
boxman80 replied to ponc's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Then tell me about the games before Day Z that managed to merge sandbox horror survival, massive PvP survival elements, no enforced or encouraged methods of play, on large scale maps, with dynamic weatehr and daylight settings, large nubers of players and intergrated sustainance & survival systems, all pacakged in a user friendly, realtively straight forward and attractive package. I'm not arguing the toss of if it's technically the game that introduced all, any or even each of these elements or features , but I dont think it can't be really argued that it delivered all of these things, and more, really well and more importantly succesfully (1.6million players cannot be argued with and is not just opinion), therefore it is truly original as it's the first game that has succesfully done this. You conceed it's a jack of all trades, master of none - but you say it like that's something bad and not something to be celebrated. That IS it's defining feature and what makes it unique and original in it's own right. Not a lot in gaming is truly original, arguing over which is the first to do this and whats the best to do that is silly. Day Z will be rememebred as the pioneering title of the genre, that being a mashup of sandbox-survival-horror-RPG as it it's a game that adds all the elements together, in the right amount and does it well. That makes it original. -
Agree completely. The wave of hipsters and darlings of the internet have gone now and we are left witha decent community (on the whole) who all share at least the commonality of enjoying this title for exactly what it is. I've been playing Day Z well over a year now and I'm still enjoying it just as much today as I was back then and it's only getting better. It's a fantastict game and as I've said since I started playing it, the reality is it's target audience isnt actually all that large and certainly not mainstream. I think some of the elements appealed to many, especailly when brought to the "internets peoples " attention by the streamers and all the media who hopped on the bandwaggon, but the core elements of it being a harsh anti-game are ineed aimed at true fans of the genre. Don't get me wrong, in many respects i'm pleased about focus this mod got which has helped define Day Z as effectively being the mod/game that defined a new genre of gaming. I'm sure that's certainly how it will be remembered anyway. This, in my opinion, has meant that we; the people who do apprecaite this game for what it is and aims to achive will; hopefully have some fantastic gaming titles still to come for a few years yet now that gaming companies know we're here! Not least this will start by what i'm sure will be a fantastic stand alone release, worth the wait.

Great shooting Jimmy, I seen it, very impressive! -
People on mass are idiots, it's true.
-
That's not the community, that's casual and individual players that chose not to be a part of the "community". A community is a collective of individuals that have a collective goal or achievement, in this case the development and improvement of the title. So "the community" does want this, whether or not this is the MAJORITY of players is a different matter.

Looking for casual group of players to help out
boxman80 replied to Renzakuken's topic in Clan / Group Recruitment
Howdy mate, check us out @ The BSB Network - http://www.bsbnetwork.com we don't mind casuals who come and go as they need to as we're a social gaming group. We have been around since 2002 (so very stable) and supported Day Z since launch and will continue to do so well into stand alone. We're mostly adult gamers but we dont have any silly rules , trials or requirements other than fair play and common sense. We have our own populated server (see my signature) and Mumble server and our Day Z players are divided between 3 different Factions according to their style of play ; Ravens (Heroes), Scorpions (Bandits) and Jackals (Mercenaries/Traders/Inbetweeners!). We have regular Faction Wars seasons (8-12 weekly gaming events for the factions to compete against each other for points) as well as other cool regular events such as Bounty HunterZ and fun skirmishes. Lots to keep any Day Z player entertained. Why bother with new or untested clans that are likely to be here today and gone tomorrow? If you are interested just visist our website (http://www.bsbnetwork.com) and apply to join (Community menu), or alternatively just join our server and get a few games with us to see how we roll - no obligation to join. Best to join Mumble too though as it makes things easier! Hope to see you in game with us soon! -
