No one is bitching at you, after all what do I care if you want to run about on an empty server with a cool gun you spawn with every time. As fraggle said it's a bit of a dick move as people will just see it as admin exploiting the server so they remain on top and can always have the Gucci gear. No one wants to play on server where they have to scavenge and work hard for gear but could lose it all to admins that can just magic it all up and who dont have to scavenge. It sends a really bad message. Having admin only guns is more likely to have and adverse effect than reassure players. First of all how do they know you're an admin just by a weapon ? How do they know you didnt steal it from an admin - also what happens when you switch weapons or are driving? Second, why chose such a powerful gun for admins? Why not just use a skin or even better rolling messages identifying your admins by name or messenger/TS so they can contact you outside the game? Anyone who isnt put off by the thought of uber powerful admins will surely only go out of their way to get your guns Im not even certain its necessary to have admin identifiable visually in game to be honest with you, especially if you have side chat enabled. Personally, Id go for a combination of having rolling server messages advertising your TS/Mumble/Skype what ever, maybe add a custom skin for your admins (nothing too OP like ghillies) and if you want that gun (and more additional guns that arent in regular day z) I would just put them in the loottable and give everyone the same chance of finding it. I got links to some good scripts if you would like them.

In my opinion if you cant figure out how to sort out your BE scripts you havent earned those "admin only" weapons ;). The only advice Id give is the more you tamper with those scripts, the more loopholes you give to unsavory types, so yes they're kind of necessary. Good luck populating your server, you may struggle if you'e giving your admins OP gear, it's a bad move in my opinion.

Yea I have the book and wasnt so sure a movie version would work - theres just so much content in the book it couldnt possibly be made to fit a movie. A mini series would work a lot better. Having said that it doesnt look like the movie follows the book very closely any way. I may be wrong as I havent seen it yet. Ill check it out anyway as if nothing else it looks like a good action movie! That aside, anyone who loves a good zombie book should check out David Moody's "Autumn" series - they are by far the best zombie books Ive ever read, and Ive read loads!

Lots changed i the last 6 months. Start the game and see for yourself, but before you do find a good server, ideally whitelisted. Balota buddies is one of the best hives for regular Day Z vanilla, their servers are well administrated and they are decent guys. They are also very active here and commited to the game, which many groups/servers are not!

Woah how much of a coincidence?! My PSU gave up the ghost today after a couple of days of this. Yea just to reitterate the above, sounds like its your powersupply mate. Check how warm it is when it does it and see if there are any burning smells comign from it. Get it replaced ASAP though as it can have an affect on other hardware.

How does the community driven mod have any relevance on the quality of the commercial stand alone release? I fail to see why that would be relevant to renting a stand alone server? Hasnt it already been stated that private hive wont be an option initially for Stand Alone too? So unless you had planned on running a main hive server on stand alone (if indeed that was initially possible with your present provider) you would have remained tied to providing a private hive for the mod anyway. If you don't like it can't just roll back to the previous version and post some constructive feedback via the suggestions board? Surely that would be more useful to both the mod and the stand alone.

What happens if you die because of a bug or a kid using hacker scripts?? Wouldnt this also just encourage more KoS ? If some kid knew he was going to basically stop you playing fora week surely he's going to go out of his way to ruin your week... Also think what it would do to the server attendances...... Some people would be put off because server attendances were down simply because people COULDNT play. Also practically how would you host two different modes of the game? Different servers? I get what you are trying to go for but I dont think this is a viable solution, sorry.

A combination of Private hives and improvements to the game it's self have massively improved the situation. Plus last year seen a massive influx of hipsters who were only here on the crest of a wave of popularity, which in its self brought a load of shit-houses and script kiddies - those guys have pretty much gone now. All you got to worry about now is admins who abuse their server admin privileges! However if you find a well established private hive you should be aright!

Standard low gear load out for all players (makarov, 2 mags, Czech vest & 2 bandages) Usual custom buildings such as extended urban areas, additional fire stations, barracks, apartments,castles etc (Not OP additions like barracks added to Cherno or anything like that!) No choppers! - Play Day Z how it was meant to be played! Daylight settings temporary running 24/7 No admin restricted areas or protected bases! Additional vehicles custom loot tables 30+ new weapons added to the spawn table custom vehicle spawns AI Bandits, soldiers and survivors Custom ambushes and choke points Towing/airlifting moderates with limited admin access (so no admin abuse!) to just kick and ban hackers 3 factions fighting against each other (so there's no clan stacking - all our members are divided between the 3 teams!) On going tournaments and events to win in-game rewards or "faction funds" to buy equipment or supplies - earn the dough and reap the rewards! TSW Anti-Hack installed Now more than ever it’s important for server regulars to pick a side! With the recent relaunch (moved server host and changed maps!) and success of our Day Z server, it’s important our server users get affiliated to a faction! Our Chernarus server is a dangerous place with AI and human bandits on almost every hillside, in every city and around every corner! We’re already seeing a lot of casualties though treachery, deception and damn right piracy! The only rules that apply on our server (apart from no cheating!) are faction members cannot fire upon members of their own faction – there is only honour among our factions! Affiliation to a faction at least guarantees your safety (and support) within that faction! Affiliation last the entire course of a Faction Wars season, which are regular events that are hosted on the server and played at specific times, so once you are affiliated with a faction you are bound to them for the long haul, but benefits of being a part of a faction include team loyalty, better event participation and eventually a protected faction base! All three factions are presently open to join and offer various benefits! Ideally, the factions have different goals and approaches (but these arent always set in stone!); Ravens tend to be more "hero” style in their approach, friendly, skill full, stealthy and interested in building bases, helping others and providing protection to bambis and noobs alike! Scorpions are more "bandit" style players, pirates of Chernarus their main objective is self preservation and to f**k up some ones day! They are only loyal to each other and will think nothing of shooting first, asking questions later! Jackals are the newest faction and specialise in base building and trading. They also tend to be a friendly/hero styled faction but have been known to switch their loyalties to the highest bidder! They are kind of a bounty hunter faction! However it’s important to understand that this is only the IDEAL of the factions and there are no obligations for Scorpions to play bandit, Ravens to play hero – Ravens can be as cold and ruthless in their daily excursions and Scorpions can be friendly and helpful, it’s entirely up to you how you wish to play!
