  1. We just moved to HFB and they they have unrestricted access to all server files. That said they use the same software and interface to control their servers as other and bigger server hosts such as Vilayer. Had I known that in hindsight I would ahve probably went back to Vilayer. Again this isnt because HFB is a bad host as such, juust theya rent as big asVilayer. TSW is a great mod and yes it does work really well without any issues as we had it running on our vanilla Day Z server for a while. However it DOESNT seem to work proeprly with Day Z Epoch. I would also say TSW is only required once a serve becomes popular. Its not really necessary for a server taht only has a couple of players online and its probably more likely to be sued as an admin exploit than anything else! My advice to you would be if you're running a dayz vanilla server with just bog standard tweaks to rent from Dayz.ST as they are cheap, reliable and offer some fantastic admin tools already. They also allow some good customs. If you plan to run day z mods or heavily customised day z (with modifications to the dayz_code.pbo files or other core files), go Vilayer or HFB.

Following a recent server relaunch (we moved server host to accommodate the excellent Epoch mod!) and subsequence success, we're looking to further improve our server's population and are inviting players to come check us out! It's relatively "bambi" and noob friendly (no guarantees though!!!) and there are no massively over powered teams punishing new players the second they set foot on the coast! Our regular players are divided between several small teams and paramilitary groups called Private Military Companies (PMC's) where clan membership NOT necessary to join! This means there isn't a single large group of players hoarding all the best vehicles and weapons! That said, our "GoldFish Bowl" Chernarus server can be a dangerous place with AI and human bandits on almost every hillside, in every city and around every corner! We’re already seeing a lot of casualties though treachery, deception and damn right piracy! Precious metals are just that - precious and people will do just about anything to get their hands on some quick and easy currency! Teams & PMC's We encourage players to join one of the many teams already established on the server or to form their own. We prefer to teams established on our server as PMC's (Private Military Companies) and invite organised PMCs to attend regular events and tournaments. To encourage this we have provided "bare bones" base templates for groups to find and then secure and build around to produce their own team camp or base. There are many structures added in ideal locations, that have the potential to provide a fantastic team base if properly secured! There are already lots of teams sprouting up with their own goals and objectives. Team include; - The Firm (A Mafia inspired team intent of making Gold from the players on the server by offering contract hits, protection, hard to obtain gear and much more!) - The White Snakes ( A medical/Hero group offering medical and transport support for all players on the server. - Special Patrol Group (Paramilitary group, specialising in raids and banditry) - Army of Two (Dangerous duo of bandits!) - Chernarus Z Bus (Transportation and Logistical group who specialise in armoured escorts and transport) - Second Mass Police Department (Specialising in Law Enforcement) - Rogue Traders (Travelling Traders) - DIG (External clan who do a bit of everything!) - Second Mass (scavenging and trading group) Join the server today to get in on the fun.   4. Awesome siege of "the firms" HQ last night! 4 guys (eventualy being re-enforced to 6!) being held in their fort by a team of around 10 or 11 Special Patrol Group members, resulting in an epic shoot out! Really wish we had it on video!!!

    Check out our community mate, we have various different teams with different objectives playing on our Epoch server. Theres a few paramilitary teams such as the "Special Desert Patrol", also a criminal syndicate that operate with the purpose of making money through trading, extortion, assassinations, theft and robbery. To counter these "bad guys" there's teams such as the White snakes (medics), The Second Mass PD (Police/law enforcement) and The Rogue Traders (travelling traders). There are other teams too.     Zub is best to hit from fresh spawn. Rog is a long walk through nothing and then a long walk away through nothing. There's more close by amenities to Zub. Rog however is a good place to fortify and secure :)

  15. Well that doesn't exactly fill me with confidence.... I don't know who it was who responded to me as it was just a response from the generic administrator email account. According to the Epoch Devs and the community forum, it's an issue with all .ST servers. The mod simply doesnt work on 1.01.4 on ST servers out of the box but works fine on other servers (that don't require a re-write of the original code). The only feedback I'm getting from their community is "try a different server host" which, to be honest, is what we will have to do if things don't get sorted by the end of the week as we need a more stable and consistent service for this mod.

We've had servers from Vilayer, Very games, clanned, Multiplay, gameservers.com and DayZ.st for Day Z and other games over the course of 12 years. .ST arent the worst company we've used to be fair. I know some of their servers get issues with DDOS attacks but (touch wood) we've to had any issues with this yet with .st. In fact, of the companies you've mentioned, I'd say the worst for DDoS attacks were actually Multiplay. We had to have servers moved three times before we just gave up with them and opted for a refund - that was just last week!
  17. I remember day z without side chat and it was a much nicer game :) We recently disabled it on our servers for a short period and personally I felt it added to the game and reduced player issues.
  18. Any news on the broken trader menus for Day Z Epoch servers on .ST hosted boxes ? They always were a bit twitchy on .st servers but since 1.0.1.4 they just plain haven't worked. I reported this Sunday and got a generic "we are working on this sorry for any problems" message sent back. No feedback or news feeds regarding this since. Trading is a massive part of Epoch and we're losing server population while this is being worked on as players are jumping to non-.st servers for full working features. I appreciate you have to make massive code changes to accommodate Epoch and this is probably a complex issue but an ETA would be fantastic. Just to chip in as I see a lot of hate towards ST on this thread ; this problem aside, we've had only a few issues with our .st server, none of them the fault of the server host in 5-6 months since our move from Vilayer. Every query I've raised has been answered within 24 hours and Id be happy to recommend or use DayZ.st for standard Day Z servers.

    Hello mate, if you're looking for fun games and friendly people then look no further than us @ BSB Network (http://www.bsbnetwork.com ) We're UK based and have members from all over the country and Europe. Most of our members are adults but we have no stupid restrictions and no daft rules or requirements - all we ask is you play fair and have a bit of common sense. We dont take our self too seriously and we like a bit of banter and a laugh. We have supported Day Z since launch and have our own Epoch server. We will also be supporting Day Z sand Alone from release. We have been around since 2002, so we're stable and won't disappear after a week or so like some clans. We also have our own cool website and Teamspeak 3 server for players to use. We support more than 20 other games and have over 2000 registered users to play games with when you're looking for mates to join you. Our day z server has several little teams active on it that are always looking for new recruits and our members are divided among them to keep things active and competitive. We also run regular events with prizes and have in-game tournaments.
  23. 1. I said in SA it would be reduced. My point was has having un-enterable buildings in the mod stopped people playing? If anything having secured area done by a player (not necessarily un-enterable) is more authentic than having an unentarable building that's just part of the landscape. 2. Again you have misread or misinterpreted what I have said. The point being, having a clan dominate a server is irrelevant to the game it's self, its a server balancing issue. Its up to an individual if they decide to play on server that's dominated by a group or not. If players are not joining a server, then it's up to the server administrator to address the fact that a single group is dominating and driving away individuals. At worst it's basically people exploiting the system, but again, who do they hurt by doing this? More likely themselves as by your own admission the server would be empty, which was kind of my point. If large groups exploit more secure bases and over do it, they only hurt their own servers as players move on to a more balanced server. A more flimsy system based around current measures isnt worth the effort if the only way to protect it is as you say having a big clan guarding it 24/7!. I dont know what world you live in but here in the real one, you will be hard pushed to get large groups to sustain a shift pattern to guard in-game resources. Besides, isnt this just another way of a large group or clan dominating a server too? If anything you are encouraging elitist groups and again adding to the problem YOU highlighted of large clans dominating a server. 3. You are talking specifics and going off the point. I was saying there's already an unbalance in the fact that the effort to break or compromise a base/camp currently is considerably less than that, that is required to secure it. In simple terms it's not worth trying to secure something presently because no matter what you do, someone can find/take/destroy your hours of work in minutes. This is irrespective of how difficult it is to source gear. In fact having less gear available to scavenge only goes to re-enforce the fact that better means of securing personal items, especially for gear that remains online when a player isn't, is needed. 4. This is just environmental conditions, you're talking. Having more secured players camps isn't going to reduce a players will to survive in game, just because some of the gear they have aquired is saved there. Your original point was that having players' gear safer would make them less concerned with their health and taking more risks or trolling - I cant see having more secured player fortifications decreasing player competitiveness at all, or at least any worse than it does at the moment when players get sick of scavenging and start trolling. I play Epoch currently with 100% undestroyable safes in and I havent noticed it detracting from players' wanting to stay alive. If this were the case do you think Epoch would be so popular? 5. Please dont mistake me for an idiot mate. I'm quite aware of the difference between Day Z and football manager. I clearly wasn't comparing FM to Day Z, I was again making a point that was completely lost on you. Next time I'll draw you a picture instead if you like? Again you are arguing against your own argument! Having the ability to construct a player fortification OR secure an area BETTER making it "relatively" safe/safer (or at least takes a LOT of effort to break!) is actually ADDING end game content for many players. The more achievable objectives there are in the game, the better for some players as long as these objectives are not essential game methods or enforced, its all good! 6? 7 Having the environment being harder again for me only supports being able to construct fortifications/barricades and areas they are "relatively" safe. 8 See your own bloody argument on point two!!!!! Either they would play on an empty server (your words not mine!) or players would rise to the challenge of playing against a dominant group. 9. I have specifically said "better secured" or talked about time consuming efforts to attack bases and player structures to enable better base building that wasn't just a waste of time and effort. At push, yes, I would say indestructible, but purely in the interest of better balance to prevent peoples being discouraged from doing it. However if you are going to play the idiot card and talk about "realistic" then how about this as a solution, using your logic; - We do away with choppers (as no one would be able to fly them) - Loot doesnt respawn. Once its taken it's gone for good. - Once you get shot in game you are dead forever and you dont respawn on the coast. You can never play the game again (this means players really WILL be scared of dieing! - Hows that for "authentic" ?) - Your player needs at least 6 hours sleep every day and stops to take a shite at least once a day - If your character runs for too long he pukes his ring up - Do away with all the military weapons as people dont just leave them unsecured lying around - Have no medical supplies accessible to players as they are always locked away and the only way to get them is to blow doors off locked structures with C4 - except you wouldnt be able to find any C4 as it's not going to be just left on some barracks floor! No, it's going to be inside some massive bomb proof vault that Joe Everyman has absolutely no means of getting inside! Problem solved, now following your realistic - sorry "authentic" approach, we can now have base building and NOT worry about people destroying or raiding it as 9 time out of 10 a simple lock and key will be enough to secure it. Oh as you failed to see the blatantly obvious in my previous post I best point out I was actually being sarcastic lol No, now lets be serious from here...

    You would need to edit the mod files he means that the client downloads individually when they install Day Z (or other Day Z mods).
