North West Airfield! There I said it! Its a massive run out for usually an AK or an M4 and loads of smoke grenades only then to be be sniped by some camping nob end. You spend more time and resources trying to get in or out alive than it's worth on a good server. Let the flaming commence. -

We use our own TS3 server to coordinate games and our lads regularly group up and play other PC games too such as Company of Heroes, BF3, War Thunder, World of Tanks... just about any game that pops up really. We're a great bunch of lads and if you like a bit of a laugh and banter with your gaming come check us out. All the details you need such as our TS3 and game server addresses are on our website. Background Narrative No one knew who, where or when exactly “case zero” occurred. What we do know has been pieced together from our own recollections and tales from other survivors. Most people agree that the events started roughly around 5-6 months back; Russia had come under increasing international pressure for their involvement with the North Korea situation that had been escalating. Their support of the new head of State, Kim Jong Un was seen by many as a step back towards the days of the Cold War – especially as Jong Un had swore to “settle old debts” with the west, targetting the US specifically. Russia’s continued support and trading with North Korea, despite the international embargoes imposed, had been seen as many as a statement of intent. Rumours of weapons and technology trading between the countries had surfaced from the US based on alleged intelligence reports. More alarmingly there were also fears of a deal between the two states whereby the North Koreans were able to establish military bases all around the western boarders of Russia. The first reports the west heard were from those who were immigrants or had family or contacts back in Russia. Tales of “Moscow Rabies” that was affecting dogs became a conversation piece between small communities who had ties with the old country. They called it Moscow Rabies but it seemed the disease was actually only affecting the towns and villages to the north west of Moscow. It wasn't long before some of the news networks got hold of the story and began running it as a snipped story , placed on some obscure page between celebrity scandals or wedged in the 5 minute slot between the main stories of the day and the sports reviews - the latest unknown animal epidemic that was scary enough to alarm viewers and readers, yet far enough away not to seriously worry about. The sort of story you sit up and take notice of but quickly forget about and expect never to hear anything about again. No one outside of Russia was particularly concerned, no one seemed to care, the presumption being it would be quickly and quietly dealt with by the country who was rapidly turning their back on the western world. Days later a the first amateur photos and films showing footage of dogs with the disease began to surface and further developments and details of this new disease began to trickle through. Recorded cases of rabinous dogs attacking humans were confirmed and rumours of the disease being spread to humans also surfaced, although there was no actual confirmation of that; not until the disease hit the capital it’s self! Once there had been reported cases of humans carrying the disease the story became more and more newsworthy. It became a topic of conversation at most work places, coffee shops and bars across the country; just the latest sort of intriguing epidemic gossip that got people in the west talking in the same way the bird flu pandemic of 2009 did. It wasn’t long before Russia declared a state of emergency and closed down all of her borders and international airports. The bordering countries of Russia began preparing for a possible spread of the epidemic – but by this time it was too late. Suspected cases were already surfacing in Latvia, Belarus and the Ukraine. The virus was spreading and spreading alarmingly fast! Within a month the infection had spread throughout Russia and her neighbouring countries leading to it being declared officially a pandemic. The UN had despatched military and scientific teams to help maintain order, provide aid and rescue services as well as help with the study of the virus. The Red Cross and various other large aid organisations quickly shipped out personnel, food, water, clothing, temporary accommodation and medical supplies to counties hit in the region. As the situation rapidly escalated more military and scientific personnel from European countries such as The UK, Germany and France were sent to help with the masses of refugees heading west through Europe. The US also increased it’s presence in the region, moving a US fleet to the Baltic region tasked with supporting detachments of UN troops and remote regional forces. Their main role being to help establish aid and refugee camps whilst securing the various island communities in the Baltic sea. The theory was that these areas, being naturally isolated by the sea, would be a safe place to evacuate refugees to. Shipping in the region increased with many commercial cruise liners being commandeered or volunteered to be used to help with the hundreds of thousands of people who were evacuating the region. There were several reports of accidental collisions between the masses of generally uncoordinated feets, with many casualties. The islands of Taviana were one of the closest and more densely populated areas within the region. A group of five islands originally volcanic , with an estimated population of 2.3 million people, the various ports and local amenities attracted many tourists and visitors to the islands and not to mention it being the base of international oil drilling company, that used the islands to house some of it’s 25,000 employees. In addition to it’s indigenous population the islands had a significant Russian military presence there also, which had only increased as the pandemic had spread. Within three months of the pandemic the first case of Moscow Rabies, and the virus spread across a large area of Eastern Europe and already suspected cases being reported in places as far as Northern Asia, Northern Africa and even the mainland of the US and Canada. More details were reported about the disease, which appeared to be a man made neural virus that attacked the victims brain, spinal cord and nervous system. It appeared to be spread by body fluids and hibernation period appeared to between 24 and 48 hours. With symptoms starting out with coughing fits, flu like symptoms and escalating to severe fever, foaming at the mouth and erratic, aggressive behaviour. There were even reports of victims eating people, although this was never actually confirmed! It was around this time that the first reported case was confirmed in the southern regions of Taviana, occurring on the southern island in the tourist town of Blato. It was suspected refugees from Latvia had brought the virus to the island. Within days the entire southern region of the island had been engulfed with reports of Moscow Rabies among humans. Fear spread quicker than the virus, with residents and refugees heading north. Military personnel were scrambled to try and suppress the infected. Within days the infection had spread to the main island of Taviana. The military took drastic action with the decision being made to completely evacuate and quarantine the infected regions with a make shift boarder being drawn up across the rural area of the main island of Taviana. Military personnel were tasked with holding the boarder and preventing anyone from crossing it – they failed. Almost two weeks after the initial infection, all of the Taviana islands had been overrun with the infection. Six months down the line the virus has spread to every corner of the globe. It is believed that every country has succumb to the virus. No governments remain in control. All that is left are scattered survivors fighting for the remaining resources. Taviana is a desolate landscape, however it still has human activity! Survivors still remain in small pockets. Two main groups have been established; The Ravens and The Scorpions. Some smaller military groups are also still active in the region too as well as solitary survivors that wash ashore from various refugee ships that have run aground or been left adrift in the region. As a survivor of one such evacuation ship, you wash up on the southern coast of the Taviana shoreline with nothing more than a small bag, some basic first aid and the small calibre fire arm and seven rounds you have equipped yourself with for personal protection. "Loot" your own home for an initial outfit and supplies for the zombie apocalypse
boxman80 replied to YukonCornelius's topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
Ok here's what I think i'd be able to get my hands on the first morning of problems based on equipment, tools and vehicles in my home; So it's day 1 of the world turning to shit! My first instinct would be to protect my family and head to somewhere safe. ii dare say id head to the safety of the countryside away fromt eh rotting corpses, disease and other people. Id probably be heading for some where remote and high up - possibly the moors of Cumbria or north Yorkshire, or further afield as the Scottish highlands. So with that in mind here's what I would grab on day 1 for my journey; (Sorry no pix yet!!!) BAGGAGE 1 x large black hold all. 1 x small under-Armour draw string bag + a couple of hand luggage bags that my mrs and kids would need (here on out though ill base the rest on my equipment!) CLOTHING - British Army issue combat pants (1 spare pair in my holdall). Heavy duty and dark to camouflage me if/when i reach the countryside. - waterproof lightweight leather boots (used for airsoft) . Tough, comfortable and good protection and ankle support. - spare pair of running shoes (in holdall). FOr comfort or when i need to get in and out of somewhere quick! - lightweight dark tshirt sweater (+1 spare in my holdall). Something easy to clean and drys quickly. Dark colours for natural camo. - thick safety goggles - to protect eyes from blood/gore/other shit) - Cowboy Combat Boonie (Ala Blaine from "Predator") to keep the sun and shit off my head - besides, just because the world has turned to shit doesnt mean you cant look cool!! I dont have any helmets or anything like that to protect it properly so its style over substance:(. - Fingerless gloves. Again from airsoft with some added protection for my hands from close encounters but still not restricting my fingers when i need them for fiddly jobs. - socks. + lots of spare pairs. Got to look after your feet. - British army issue camo jacket. Used for airsoft but keeps me warm and is very thick and practical. - waterproof wax camo jacket. Heavy duty and expensive waterproof wax jacket that would keep my dry and comfortable in cold wet weather. (would probably have this in the car/bag) - watch. I dont own a fancy or especially durable watch, but it would do for the first few days so i can track time. - Tactical vest. Was made for airsoft but will be very useful for carrying extras i may pick up on my journey as well as adding an extra layer of protection WEAPONS/TOOLS My airsoft weapons would be useless so sack them, they are left behind! - 1 firemans Axe (my father in laws who's an ex fireman! probably my weapon of choice) - 1 x Small crow bar - 1X claw Hammer - 1 large kitchen knife - 1 x small kitchen knife (hidden self defense weapon - zombies arent the only enemy now!) - 1 lock knife - 1 Genuine and real pair of steel lined nun-chucks (i cant use them properly but they are a hell of a good koch!) - 2x slings. i have a 1 point sling and a 3 point sling. they will be sooooo useful later down the line! Longer term id be looking for shotguns probably (id check farmers' and farmers' mums houses!) NOURISHMENT - Anything tinned, mostly beans (!!!), pasta, tuna, corned beef and soup, that sort of thing. - bagged dried food such as pastas and cereals - Water, lots of it. Id fill as many bottles and containers i could find with water and take them. - some sugar and chocolate (emergencies, shock/blood sugar etc) - vinegar (useful for so many things, believe me!!!) - alcohol - what ever was in the fridge (a couple of cans of lager or john smiths) or the wine rack (its never wine, always cheap vodka, whiskey or gin). If the world is going down the toilet I want to have a few good nights before i pop my clogs! Doubt id waste any of this precious commodity on disinfecting wounds, trading or anything like that though! MISC EQUIPMENT - first aid kit (the usual, bandages, plasters, antiseptic cream, pain killers etc) - toothbrush (world has gone to shit, no one to fix me if/when i get painful tooth ache!!!) - tool kit (tool bag with call the usual stuff) - soap (for hygiene and washing clothes - infection will be rife!) - shit roll (enough to get me through a couple of days - dare say I'll need a fair few rolls though it if walking corpses are coming at me from every dark corner!! lol) - lighters (as many as i could find in the house for fires) - candles (again as many as i could find for light) - torches (got a few kicking round the house) - string/rope (what ever i could find in that "spawns" in the shed!) - its always useful for stuff when you dont have it! Plus it might be useful for making snares or something to catch meat (im no hunter though!) - sleeping bags (keep us warm as we sleep) - petrol can for refueling (im sure we've got one in our shed!) - binoculars (for seeing things from afar!) - AA Road atlas 2006, the one without the speed cameras marked on it (everyone has one in the car and not that much should have changed terrain-wise in Britain since 2006 and speed cameras probably arent going to be too much of a problem at this stage :) ) - gaffer tape - useful for taping down extra bits of clothes and lose stuff that might get caught in tight spots where zombies are! Also useful for gagging the mrs when she starts her inevitable nagging. - Pens. Yes i really would make an effort to grab a pen or two. Again, you need them when you dont have them, plus you may need to document/journal or leave messages for other survivors/rescuers. Id be on the look out for camping equipment like gas stoves, collapsible pans and cutlery etc. VEHICLE - our family scenic would have to do. its the bigger of the two and could comfortably fit us all in with equipment as well as being diesel and having better economy (dont want to be having to stop every few miles to fill up while zombies are trying to eat me!!!). Longer term id be looking for a 4x wheel drive with lots of room, maybe a Range Rover or LandRover Discovery but probably some kind of large camper van! -
beena quiet week with a few players rage quitting, a good number on holiday and many of our own memebrs palying ARMA 3/war thunder/other titles so looking for soem new fresh players to coem and joina good and stable server!
