So, I have been playing DayZ for a LONG time, and this has been in the back of my mind since I shot my first zombie. The death animations and the death delay in this game are VERY VERY poor, for lack of a better term. Death animations are .3 to .7 seconds after the said person or zombie has been shot fatally, and can cause players to fire more rounds than necessary into their enemies, wasting valuable ammunition. The other thing is the delay in being shot and actually losing the appropriate blood or dieing/passing out. I like and thoroughly enjoy the blood/health system in this game and think it is one of the best, IN THEORY, but when someone with an ax or crowbar can be as lethal as someone with a gun at CQC that just isn't right. Especially if the ax wielding fiend and the lonely gunmen see each other at the same time. If I can put (at least on my screen) 1/4 to 1/2 a clip into someone before they hit me or get a shot off and STILL get killed or even hurt than it makes it hard for me to actively play and support this game when every time I get in a firefight at medium to close range I know, even if I win, that it could of been because of some server side delay. Just before writing this I was playing in a Lingor server where I came face to face with someone. He couldn't of been more than 15 feet away when I first started shooting, running full speed towards me, and yet after about 1/2 a second of firing hot 7.62mm lead missiles into his chest, he still had time to strafe, pull his gun up from the downed position, aim accurately in my direction and fire multiple shots at me. He did die to his wounds, but not after knocking me out and getting me to 400 blood, which I eventually died from. If ANYONE could link/copy a blog post or forum post from one of the devs or even make a mature argument on how I am wrong it would be much appreciated. Protect those beans and stay healthy out there fellow survivors. Squaad First post so sorry if this is in the wrong forum.
