Exactly. It can't disobey if it's dead.
-
No one said anything about wanting a live dog.
-
... Well it can't very well piss inside the house if it's dead, can it?
-
C4? I meant satchel charges.
-
Google "DaiZy" and try to find an "Unofficial release" that uses as close to vanilla (unchanged) DayZ mechanics as possible.
-
It's probably an issue with you, not the public hive; there'd be wildfire bug reports and exploits being done and complained about if it was mass spread. At the very least, I haven't experienced the problem.

I'm pretty sure all the buildings can be destroyed (or at least, nothing has survived my C4 yet). As far as I know, it offers the same level of protection as your other buildings (cannot be robbed if locked, or whatever). I only played Origins for a week a few months ago so I'm probably not a good source of information.

In real life, if there's an annoying blade of grass in front of your scope, you take the sane course of action and flatten it to make your rifle useable, don't you? In real life, if you crush grass by laying on it, it doesn't spring back up when you stand. In real life, your feet are just as capable of grass crushing as your stomach and chest. So I suppose 3 changes: 1: Wider radius of grass flattening when prone. 2: Grass remains "Down" for a length of time, rather than popping back up when you stand. 3: Walking flattens grass.

Shoot it. That'll teach it to play dead.

Requested Post for SA Damage model Suggestion.
applejaxc replied to mick17's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Rocket has said several times that he has commented out (in layman's terms, removed) all of ArmA's codes for damage so he can redo it. Wait and see what system he comes up with in the devblogs. Until then, posts like this should pause for a bit. -
If you had asked a few weeks ago, I'd have let you play on my server (just you and me) and taught you. But 1.7.7.1 pretty much broke my mySql and server files and I haven't felt like fixing it. You best chances are going on youtube and finding a voice tutorial. Don't let a few assholes make you hate the DZ community. At the very least, the people here and usually a pretty nice. Although you occasionally get static responses, if you know what I mean. Best of luck mate. And really? That's weird. I've never been on a server (other than my own) that has anything bad to say about people using side chat. Unfortunately.

Do you just kill anyone you don't know?
applejaxc replied to PooPoo's topic in New Player Discussion
If I get the drop on someone, I'll probably say hi, see if they've got anything I want, and take it from them (sometimes in trade, if it's convenient). If someone gets the drop on me, and doesn't kill me (they're behind me and say, "Hi" or something) I know I can pretty much trust them until we find really good loot worth shooting over. I'll adventure with said individual until we get split up or it's convenient to kill him. -
Why is the player counter stuck?
applejaxc replied to Felixthefriendlycat's topic in New Player Discussion
My guess was after something happened (the hive change?), the vague "They" stopped supporting it. -
No. I suggested wider flatten area. That isn't "Already in"

EDIT: I read the first post as, "How good are you at gameS in general" not "How good are you at THE game in general" ... I'm really good at not being shot, but when it comes to DayZ combat I've got a really weak stomach. There's a lot of exchanging pock-shots before I just run away. I'm not tactically smart in DayZ, standing on obvious rooftops and running around like an idiot with no plan, but I've also got incredible luck and it's turned out pretty well so far; I pretty much only die from grenades and satchel charges I've placed, my car flipping over and exploding, or jumping off of rooftops when my keyboard registers 1xW as 2xW. In ArmA 3, I always use more ammo than necessary and have really bad weapon/attachment combinations. I'm pretty solid against other players but I can't beat aimbot AI within 100 meters. I'm really good at Halo 4. I'm up about 400-something more kills than deaths and it's the only online FPS where I've got less than half my kills in assists. I've never gotten a "15 kills and no deaths" challenge completed, but I'm working on it. I usually play 4 or 5 episodes of Spartan Ops then turn my Xbox off, though; the multiplayer isn't incredibly enthralling. I'm terrible at Halo: Reach and Halo 3. God awful. Couldn't hit a single thing online. I'm not incredible at Battlefield 3. I can only use a sniper rifle at medium-close range with a 4x scope. I like to play the medic that can sprint into a room, revive 4 players, then run back out before a grenade kills all of them again. I find the helicopter controls and gameplay extremely forgiving (you can crash a AH6 into a building 3 or 4 times and take minimal damage) so I spend a lot of time taxiing people around. I often wish ArmA 2/3 jets worked something like BF3. The planes and all are just too damn fast in ArmA for me. ArmA also needs to differentiate between parts; the entire vehicle is just "Hull" instead of engines, wings, et cetera the way it ought to be. I'm not good at tanks in ArmA or Battlefield. I'm pretty good at RPG games online, but I don't have a lot of patience for grinding and other MMORPG players. For example, I know a really kickass way of making a dual-wielding elf Cleric badass in DDO without spending money on extra character points and crap, and I can run through all the quests "Solo" without needing other players to kill/cast spells/heal/whatever for me, but every time I'm in a "Public" area, people are like, "Eww you did XXX instead of ZZZ and you should have YYY'd instead of WWW'd your character." And my patience, now, can only summon the response of "Stfu, /ignore *playername*" I'm fantastic in Minecraft. In single player, I'll get diamond armor, sword, and pick axe in under 12 hours (non consecutively), and I have some pretty ingenious redstone creations. I hate Minecraft multiplayer because there is no healthy sense of community anymore. Everything is "PvP RAID FACTIONS BUKKIT LOLOLOLOLOLFAGYT SERVER." MineZ was fun for a while, but they really need to fix their mod. I enjoyed Tekkit Classic, but the Technic launcher stopped supporting it. My friend and I are in a space-race with the new Tekkit to see who can colonize the moon first. I put a dimensional door in his base then destroyed it. The rip in space-time turned his nice house into a really ugly hole in the side of a mountain. Star Made, a game that I know is going to be really popular before long, is a lot of fun but it's easy to spend 2 or 3 hours building a spaceship without realizing how much time you've wasted. It's another game to have a fun space race in, but I usually have really cheap ships with 33 foot long missile pods (the more pods you have connected, the stronger the missile/the faster the battery reloads) that can tunnel through entire planets in 1-2 shots. Has anyone played State of Decay? I find guns and ammo in almost every building I enter. People often praise the zombie apocalypse game as being "Devoid of ammo to create the sense of scavenging and survival" they want so much, but I can mow entire hordes of zombies without putting a dent in my inventory and it pisses off everyone I know that plays it.

Solution to Rocket's Accessibility vs Discoordination Debate
applejaxc posted a topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
So Rocket has said several times that he wants to eliminate as much of the UI as possible. And I can respect that. A lot of interviewers, Redditers, and a few forum members here have asked, in his quest to make the game as que-based and lost-survival-e, what will happen to the text displaying where the player spawned every load-in? I was playing earlier, and I think I came up with a fantastic idea. As a given, telling the player where s/he every time s/he logs out and in is stupid; it rightly eliminates the need for a map when such a system can be exploited for finding a player's position. However, I like to know when I first spawn in if I'm in Drakon, or Cherno, or et cetera. I know it's kind of nooby to need a magical guide tell me, but it's nice to know if I'm in the ass end of nowhere or not. But what if this system as implemented? Using a randomization algorithm, only parts of the text was displayed when you spawned in? Obviously your character knows something if they've survived to where they are... unless every survivor is some hapless lad randomly dropped off by boat to the coast of the apocalypse. So instead of "Elektrozavodsk," you could get "El z sk" or " o av k" You *kind of* know where you are. -
Seriously? Car wheels are EVERYWHERE!

Right. That's why you were totally illegitimately banned.

As much as I don't like helping cheaters... If you have things across accounts on Steam and you need ArmA Lite from one and Operation Arrowhead from the other, what you do is install and play both games for a few minutes, then in your OA folder create a shortcut (looks like a folder with a blue arrow at the bottom left), name it "addons" and link it to your ArmA 2 folder. (so the shortcut will go to "program files/steam/steamapps/common/ArmA2Lite"

Why would you want OFP:DZ? Why?

Don't take chances, only shoot your targets in the back.

i keep getting this problem #1062 - Duplicate entry 'Land_HBarrier_large' for key 'uq1_building'
applejaxc replied to zombiekillerdave666's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Check your file integrity? There's a key-item inconsistency, could be a .pbo registry error. Or I could be blowing smoke and not know what the hell I'm talking about. I never got custom crap to work, besides 3 AI A10s that fly around bombing Cherno. So it's a mySql error not a .bikey error. So I was blowing smoke. Your game doesn't like your tables being edited with new buildings. Scrap your custom mission file, youtube it, and try again. -
