  1. Yeah, BattlEYE only detects (or fails to) something being spawned in, but does not keep track of spawned items.

idea for use head for melee

Yeah. No I guess it's not completely OP then. (we're both being sarcastic, right?) Just leave melee combat to melee weapons and butt-strokes/bayonet charges.

idea for use head for melee

    Sounds waay too over powered.

In DayZ, that just doesn't happen. It isn't real life, and life doesn't translate to DayZ or back very well.

I know. I know. And for that reason, I want this bounty system now... but he plays on private servers and tele-kills anyone that kills him, so.

Game needs a sniper heavier than 7.62

Good enough to scare people isn't good enough to be a sniper rifle. Regardless, I still think the Dragunov can't compete with other rifles of the same class for accuracy, 1-shot kill potential, or maximum effective range.

You didn't read the content creator privacy bulletin I see. At least, didn't try to respond to it.

The MOA tests on the Dragunov didn't pass; the Soviets had to lower the bar to accept the SVD. The SVD was made to compliment a firing squad by suppressing targets the same way the AK47 was, albeit a little further away. And I'm willing to bet if Russia was better supplied when it came to the battle of Stalingrad, SVD snipers would never be called marksmen at all; the Dragunov shined as a "sniper rifle" only because in WW2, the Soviets didn't have industrial-military-transportation complex necessary to supply soldiers in the field, so for once in Russian history, every shot actually counted. The SVD doesn't compete with any sniper rifle made at its time by the US, Britain, or Germany. The Springfield, Lee Enfield, and (I'm not going to lie, I do have to google what the German snipers used) K98/Mauser absolutely blow the SVD out of the water. Accuracy and useful as a sniping weapon was sacrificed for light weight and inexpensive construction.

My first FN FAL came from a very nice chap I met at the outskirts of CHernogorsk. It was the first time I had survived longer than 20 minutes (15 of which were spent crawling five feet) who let me ride his bicycle in search of morphine. He was an awful driver and crashed many times. He thought he saw a bus (which tends to be full of bandit clans) and took the bike into the woods, then gave me his FN FAL and took his AS50 out. Naturally, I shot him in the back. The only thing I didn't loot from him was a frag grenade. Half an hour later, as I slowly crawled away, he came back and killed me. With a frag grenade.

Definitely not. There's 3 problems in being able to search for people: 1. Realism. I know everyone is supposed to "exist in the same world" anyway... but I don't want massive clans roaming servers together with their stupid TeamSuck. 2. Privacy 3. Protection of content creators. Frankie and Jack (regardless of whether you like them or not, they're the two biggest DayZ players I know of) have to change their usernames every time they record because that god-awful DayZ commander was letting hackers search for them by username, join their server, and kill them/everyone. I don't know if there's a happy medium anyone can find. Maybe your system is better than mine. All I know is DayZ SA has really lost priority on my wish list lately anyway.

    Different characters/same server/same PC

Sorry mate, but no. The best thing to do is bite the bullet and decide on a private hive you like and play there, and let your daughter play on the public hive (so if the phive goes offline, you only deal with your own frustration instead of explaining to your daughter why she lost all her stuff). I don't know how old she is or want to know why, but I assume young enough that she'd be pretty mad at losing all her stuff.

Yeah. People only complain about banditry because they feel like they can't do anything about it; if a bandit's ability to change servers weren't so simple, and players had the ability to amass 6-man hit squads, it would be the bandits complaining about the game being ruined about invincible, over-geared children. Bandits belong in DayZ like ham belongs in a ham sandwich. The only problem is, no matter how much ketchup you add... I can't really think of a good analogy for the fact that banditry is the easiest way to play and there is no built in karma system. I don't want a "You die of a heart attack after 10 kills" system or anything like that; that would just be stupid.

Verify ArmA 2 and Operation Arrowhead (unless you have the retail edition, in which case sorry, you probably will have to reinstall)

    DayZ still so much hackers/cheaters?

Not on "Private hive" servers, where the database is specific to that server alone. But don't let these guys scare you; I've never dealt with a hacker in the public hives I couldn't just abort away from (Alt + F4/quit server)

THe only problem is the fact that there's 1 million players with a few added each week, and 3 million servers with a couple hundred added every day (over exaggerating, of course, but the fact remains). On private hives with a dedicated player base, I suppose this idea makes sense and isn't terrible, but it will never work on the public hive; "Oh, some minged player put a bounty on me? Better change servers." There's just never going to be enough consistent people returning to the same public hives again and again to make the idea worthwhile, and public hives should always have more development attention than private ones.

The M700 is a beautiful example of American sporting weapons turned into American military weapons (the M40A5/M24)

Game needs a sniper heavier than 7.62

It was a guess based on the 7.62x54R; it's normal for weapons with rimmed ammunition to accept smaller rounds (like a .44 revolver using .357 or a .45 than fire .40). Either that or it works the other way around (the R is an oversized bullet that lets you go up in size, soa .357 can use .44)

Thanks! I guess...? You're sure it was scripts they used and not the game's normal script execution and whatnot, right? If I remember correctly, setpos gets used a lot by the game and mistaken for cheating.

Game needs a sniper heavier than 7.62

100m isn't anything to be proud of as a marksman. And the M14 is very different from the SVD; Americans have different grains in their bullets, barrel twists, and all that kind of nonsense. If I remember correctly, the Americans like their guns with more twist (meaning the rifling of the barrel spins the bullet with more RPM as it is fired) for accuracy at range. And 7.62x39 isn't an intermediate caliber. From Wikipedia (as illegitimate of a site as you may think it is) Barrel[edit source | editbeta]The barrel profile is relatively thin to save weight and is ended with a slotted flash suppressor. The barrel’s bore is chrome-lined[3] for increased corrosion resistance, and features 4 right-hand grooves. It is not rifled over its full length but partly over a length of 547 mm (21.5 in). In the 1960s, the twist rate was 320 mm (1:12.6 in). During the 1970s, the twist rate was tightened to 240 mm (1:9.4 in), which reduced the accuracy of fire with sniper cartridges by 19%. This adaptation was done in order to facilitate the use of tracer and armor-piercing incendiary ammunition, since these bullet types required a shorter twist rate for adequate stabilization.[4]
  21. They can slow down the walking/running speed by modifying a variable coefficient (the only reason I know that is because I was learned how to change my setrecoil Coefficient to fix ARmA 3's obnoxious recoil to ArmA 2 levels). The problem is slowing down the animation, which has its length set by frames/actions; they would have to create a new animation with more/less frames to fit. Otherwise it'd lag like my laptop

    A zombie idea

The problem is, slow zombies aren't scary. I agree that running ones don't really feel like zombies, but simply throwing a lot of them at the player doesn't make them a threat; they're slow and stupid regardless of size. All you have to do is weave-and-bop (so long as there isn't a 15m hit range ROCKET AND DEVS HINT HINT) to loot and run. I like the idea of less zombies that run slow enough that they can actually be shot.

    Suddenly slow load times

Verify your game mate! (if you have it through Steam) It might be because one of your files is raising red flags with BattlEye/the server and you need to make sure all of your files are in "out of the box" condition. Sorry if that doesn't help; best of luck to ye!

Game needs a sniper heavier than 7.62

Prior to the 80's/90's, Soviet battle doctrine was to dump as much ammo at the enemy as quickly as possible with concentrated firing squads. Thusly, the AK47 (which was cheap to manufacture as everyone so says) was designed to be craftable from stamped metal (inferior most of the world's weapon assembly methods, though for whatever reason carved metal AKs are absolutely awful) and fired the 7.62x39 so that as long as one person hit someone, it was probably going to stop shooting back. Accuracy wasn't a concern in the slightest. Then came the Dragunov sniper rifle, which fired a 7.62x54mmR (I believe the R stands for "Rimmed," which means the Dragunov could fire 7.62x39 as well. Don't quote me on that, though), hardly a step up from a weapon designed to scare the enemy more than hit it. The only difference is its drop off starts a couple meters further out making a rifle. Even that being said, the 7.62 holds less powder than one might think in such a bullet; your off-the-shelf Walmart hunting rifle from the 1980's without a scope could outshoot a Dragunov any day, night, week, or month of the year, fiscal or otherwise. The Dragunov is only called a "Marksman's rifle" because no one has the guts to tell Putin the Dragunov is trash. It's not only old and outdated by our standards today, it was already dated when it got released! edit I just saw your STALKER signature/forum title... and it's funny, because earlier today I looted a Dragunov off a zombie (ex soldier) and every shot I took was off-target up and to the left. It's probably because the gun was at 50% condition, but even STALKER: Call of Pripyat agrees with me.

Tell Me Ur Favorite Weapon In Dayz?

AKM. I will literally kill anyone that won't give/trade me one or ammo. If I already have a DMR or M14, I'll kill for one or the other just so my primary weapon and my sniper rifle share the same ammunition. Edit The Lee Enfield deserves a definite shout-out from me.
