DayZ Commander is one of the worst available programs. Ever. If you reaaaally really hate manual installation, I'd suggest playWithSix. Just open it, select ArmA 2 Operation Arrowhead Beta (under the "games" tab), click the "Mods" tab (it's big and on the left side; hard to miss). Scroll through the mod list and find DayZ. After it's done downloading that, launch the game. The BEST way to do it Download DayZ Put the @DayZ mod file in your ArmA 2 Operation Arrowhead Directory Go into Steam and set your Operation Arrowhead Beta's launch parameters to include -mod=@DayZ Create a shortcut (it looks like a folder with a blue arrow at the bottom) in your ArmA 2 Operation Arrowhead directory named addons that links to your Arma 2 directory Launch game, have fun.

Steps to fix common lag problems: 1. Launch ArmA 2/OA and join a multiplayer match WITHOUT any mods, DayZ, et cetera installed 2. Launch ArmA 2 OA (with DayZ) and connect to a server (doesn't matter which) 3. Close ArmA 4. Exit Steam 5. Turn off computer 6. "Accidentally" drop computer 7. Ask parents for a new one

Did you download/install the newest Operation Arrowhead Beta update? http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php Right at the top, version 11 thousand something (damn BI is busy...) Are you launching the beta patch from Steam (NOT ArmA 2: Operation Arrowhead. Specifically the one that says "Beta" in its name)

1. Sniper rifles are only useless vs zombies in the mod because zombies can endlessly respawn. This problem will be fixed in the SA... at least, that's what their early intentions were (devblogs lately seem to be contradicting this) 2. WHAT game with PvP has a stronger PvE factor? There aren't any. It's an unavoidable problem unless you want super zombies covering the entire map. I can tell you don't "Follow the DayZ forums much" because 3. The game is a survival challenge vs humans and zombies, not Left 4 Dead. You want to control the zombies? Go play something else.

Zombie spawns, loot spawns, packet sending, scope zoom, vehicle crash/explosion, building destruction...? There's lots of things that cause a "sudden drop" and then your FPS returns to normal.

Open ArmA WITHOUT DAYZ, go into multiplayer, and start a local game, then run around for a few minutes. Exit, turn DayZ back on, and try again. This problem is completely normal, extremely common, and has a stupid fix. :)

You have to remove your previous ArmA CD key and replace it with your new one. Google how. And don't cheat again, ye bastard.

Find the coast, open your map. If the coast is on your right, you're facing east... or north... (I haven't played in a while). Find landmarks and go from there. Play a lot in the editor (without DayZ) and get familiar with landmarks in Chernogorsk/Elektrozavodsk (two major loot centers) and how they look on the map. (IE, if you see the International Hotel, you know you're in Cherno)
