  1. To be fair, alpha. To be honest, I know how you feel. I haven't played DayZ SA for more than a few minutes since a month out of release and have been waiting for a devblog that actually interested me. Who knows who long it will take, who knows if Virtual whateveritsfuckingcalled engine 1.x will somehow revolutionize the ArmA experience. But don't give up! You can probably join a whitelist hardcore RP server owned by a haxxing 6 year old whose dad totally works for Microsoft and will ban you if you have fun. <3

Can I Run DayZ Retail (POST HERE)

But there's only 1 "Load time" on joining a server; it's not like I need to be the first person to spawn into a map and yoink the team's Tank. I don't see there being a huge benefit of dedicated a huge part of a 128gb SSD for DayZ. And it's the Clevo p670SG. I don't know a lot about Sager vs MSI vs et cetera because I've only ever owned consumer Toshiba laptops, but I can grab this setup (980m, 16gb ram, i7-4720HQ, SSD and 1TB HDD) for ~$2000. And if you wouldn't mind: "+200 bins" means literally nothing to me. +200 out of what? What is this changing in the CPU's performance? How big of a change is it? How big of a change is +135mhz on my GPU? (The only thing I know about OCing is EVGA will cap at +135 to stop me from bricking my electronics and I don't dare question its judgement)

Can I Run DayZ Retail (POST HERE)

Sager NP8762 (Customized through XoticPC) Laptop Monitor resolution: 1920x1080 CPU: i7-4720HQ (2.6GHz; no interest in OC) Graphics card: GTX 980m (OC +135mhz) RAM: 8-16 @1600MHz SSD? DayZ will be installed to a 7200RPM HDD. I don't know why the S/H field is relevant; if anyone can tell me why that would be appreciated. Of course top-of-the-line mobile GPU is going to run hot, and I'm aware heat causes throttling; the laptop will have thermal paste and extra copper heatsinks, and will probably be used on a fan more often than not. I haven't opened DayZ in months; does anyone know if general performance has improved? Or are all CPU-based settings still suuuuper slow?

    [SA] Kill Count?

Hear me out: In the main menu, I would like to see a list of players that I have killed (completely, absolutely, 100% dead, not players that I've wounded). I do not want a list of players who have killed me; when I respawn, I'm a 100% new person, not out for revenge. There would be no benefits to a large kill list whatsoever, nor a penalty. There would not be any kind of message in-game telling me whether I have killed someone or not; that hurts realism considerably. (Along with this, a stat tracker for how many transfusions I've given, players I've bandaged, etc)
  5. I haven't played in a while, so forgive me for not knowing this, but: The AKM, MP5, and RAK don't have select-fire?! WTF? Not only can't they get their zombies to work, but now firearms are getting half-assed?

    People's thoughts on hip firing?

The hip-fire reticle was WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more useful than half of the weapon's ironsights, and sometimes even scopes. I refused to play DayZMOD on non-veteran servers.

    People's thoughts on hip firing?

1: I think there's a time and a place for hip fire in any game 2: I think it's too easy to kill stuff from the hip. Even on "Veteran" mode (no crosshair), it's pretty easy, and sometimes even better than using your scope at long range. In ArmA 2, the hip-fire icon was OP as hell, in ArmA 3 it's at least a little bit more vague, but still too precise to be difficult.

In Support of a New Vanilla Hive

I think it's sad I feel more inclined to start paying for a previously free version of DayZ rather than play the version I've already payed for. ATM I wouldn't make a monetary investment, but I also support resurrection on some level. Vanilla DayZ Mod was fun.

    Hackers & Handcuffs

I know it's an alpha, but it's disgusting that they'd release a game, then several months later, after making zero appreciable progress (on our end) of zombies, they tell us that "Oh, well we're just going to redo the entire engine again because it can't do what we want." Why does it take them 8 months to realize that the A2.5 engine has terrible lighting? People have complained about it since day one, way even before DayZ Mod was a thing. So excuse me if I'm perfectly justified in being pissed off that they are throwing wrenches into their own machine by putting a time-delay on realizing all the flaws with ArmA rather than addressing them or, at least, clearly telling the people they sold this game to that they know all of the work they claim to be putting into the "New Engine" or "Hybrid Engine" or whatever buzz tag they use is bullshit and they're going to say, "Nah, we scrapped that work from before and we're redoing it again."

    Hackers & Handcuffs

Wow. This game really defines the zombie apocalypse huh? (didn't run into a single zombie for after a minute of running around)

    Walkie Talkie support

1: That's how they're supposed to work; just because you're talking into a radio doesn't mean people around can't hear you (unless you whisper into it, which isn't an option...) 2: If I have a radio, I've got a battery in it and it's on. I've heard things every now and then. Someone kept saying something like "Yeah yeah I'm at the hospital... nonono turn around... yeah the one in Elektro..." like he was giving directions to a really lost player. I was trying to find him (so I could kill hiim and his friend) and unfortunately Elektro was completely empty :( I wasn't able to talk back to them as far as I know. I kept trying to say things like "*heavy breathing* It's so nice... to see... a friendly face... in Elektro...mwahahaha..." They either didn't hear me or didn't react. I felt like a dork.

I second this. I'm not reinstalling until beta or release.

    This is normal?

1: All ArmA titles have been notoriously awful regardless of your system. My Toshiba Sattelite in 1366x768 at all minimum gets the same performance as your GTX660 + 3.5GHz CPU in Elektro (though with some stuttering). Someone else with the same specs as your computer might get twice the performance or half for no reason 2: How is your performance in other titles? 3: Have you tried setting everything to high+? The one ArmA works, some graphic settings will tax your CPU and some will tax your GPU. "Low" terrain will use your CPU, while "High" terrain will use your GPU, meaning you will actually get higher performance at higher graphics settings. It's something you will need to play around with; look for one of the thousands of tweaking guides available for ArmA 3 and DayZ. This is the most in-depth guide I know of. I suggest you ignore the tip to disable CPU parking; the feature exists for a reason, and I wouldn't bother tampering with it. The performance gain isn't worth potentially shortening your CPU's lifespan (decreasing performance long-term). I'd also ignore setting DayZ to "High" in the task manager as this doesn't truly gain much in performance, and can potentially increase the chances of the game crashing (leaving your character defenseless for 30 seconds). Applications like "Razer's Game Booster" or "Iobit Game Booster" aren't valuable, either. Maybe six years ago disabling extraneous programs would free up your 256MB-1GB of RAM and help your game performance, but now with your 8GB system and CPU speed, it won't do you any favors. You may as well save the hard drive space.

What's up with the axes/melee weps?

You must not have looked very hard... ...also, yes. Melee is broken right now. Very, very broken.

    Roll and throw!

I don't know what military you served in, but the patented roll-and-throw won World War 2 and Korea, thank you very much.

    Walkie Talkie support

Radios have been in for a long time, but I didn't know they actually almost worked.

    What is this?

    A relative pronoun.
  20. I would as well. Devs, please?
  21. But you trade terrible kill delays for massive desync, broken zombies, and hackers. Oh wait, you still have those terrible kill delays.
  22. I think this is the first not completely terrible suggestion I've ever seen for reducing the amount of military gear. Granted, this is going to turn heli crash sights into all-out hatchet war zones (which is not a completely terrible thing), it is pretty smart. If the game became more about melee weapons (after melee is not completely shit >.> Rocket I'm looking at you) and civilian-grade low-calibre or bolt-action weapons, it would be a lot more interesting. As sad as it is to admit, military gear saturation makes the game boring.

DayZ is literally unplayable at the moment

Thank you for telling us what we already know. Thanks.
