    SA: 'No advanced weapons'

Sure, sure... but the .338 LUPUA IS a pretty powerful round.
  2. applejaxc

    Oh I wish I was a...

That was my first idea That was my second one I already am one in MineZ :)

Worth it to buy now or wait?

Really? $24.99? Either I accidentally bought it during a Steam sale (I did get it over the summer) or you're looking at the X/anniversary edition... I don't know. And I'm not nearly as good as Frankie, but are you interested in other people hunting bandits? :)

    SA: 'No advanced weapons'

Sure. Take helicopters out and you can take the LAW/AM rifles out :) And I don't have a problem with counter-terrorist weapons like the Accuracy International L1169A1. You don't want to take ALL the fun out of sniping, do you? I personally like it when playing overwatch while friends charge a city, although it has the slowest bolt cycling time.

    SA: 'No advanced weapons'

I like anti-material/anti-vehicle sniper rifles; it's bullshit to let Bandits run around unopposed in trucks and whatnot. The issue is how common the weapons are, and their ammo. I feel like taking them away will make helicopters/cars too useful.

Worth it to buy now or wait?

If you want to practice your survival, pay the 18 dollars on steam for CO. Otherwise, just wait; I bought CO because I LOVE ArmA 2, prior to knowing anything about DayZ. If it wasn't for FrankieOnPcIn1080p/The Yogscast, I'd still be in the ArmA 2 OA mission editor.

    The best way to die?

I have a macro program set up so when I see someone, I can hit a button and it starts playing "What is Love" by Hadddaway.

    Skilled Vs Unskilled bandits

You know, I could very easily play devil's advocate here and say the stealth of shooting someone in the dark while undetected is skill.

    Did they "nerf" deer stands?

On a WEAPONS+ not a legitimate server. CZ spawns were reduced and over-powered weapons improved because the server admin sucks and can't play the game right. Play on VANILLA and try reproducing that scenario.

    Did they "nerf" deer stands?

Wait... I HAVEN'T practiced, and that is why I CAN do well? ....what? And the CZ isn't HARD to use; it's my favorite scoped rifle because of how common it is. Literally every barn house has one.
  11. applejaxc

    Did they "nerf" deer stands?

The CZ is the most commonly spawning scoped rifle in the game. I like it, but the chevron sigh/lack of chevrons makes emergency shots (when ranges can't be tested properly/rangefinder can't be pulled out) risky. I'd take a M24 or even a Lee Enfield over it.

    Single Player Main Menu button

Did I call him part of the team? No? Okay then. How the hell would offline SP looting carry into MP? That's preposterous. Calm... calm down... Some people can't deal with DayZ; it's proven to cause psychosomatic injuries. I'd rather see SP added and 500+ vehicle bullshit private hive servers.
  13. applejaxc

    Players seeking a challenge WANTED.

Cut spawn rates of all gear by 50% and I"ll think about it.
  14. applejaxc

    Single Player Main Menu button

1: Kronzky (creator of DayZ SP and "Single Player 'Cheat' Support Call") worked along with Rocket. 2: Does it matter if scripts are tested offline in SP or online? If people are going to take the time to install DayZ SP and all its special crap, you think they won't take the time to disable BattlEYE on a private server and test it? Wow, really hit the nail on that guess, didn't you? 3: DayZ SP is a good way to learn to play, and a lot of fun if you don't have a 24/7 internet connection. Unlike you, some people like to travel, and need to use their laptops in different places... and yes, a Toshiba Satellite can run DayZ just fine. ==== I thought the gray-out was a subtle way of telling Kronzky to stop, though it hasn't seemed to. I personally disable the anti-SP button when I've got full DayZ running because it's a pain in the ass to turn ArmA off, change my Steam parameters, and turn it back on because I'm bored and want to play a SP Scenario or the campaign.
  15. If we can be the Midnight Sugarpuffs, I'll join. If you want some kind of application to see how good I am at DayZ, I have video proof of 10+ murders in about 20 minutes of gameplay. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVjfb4eziFg Don't let me drive or fly... my other videos will show why >.>

    Namalsk EMP? Wtf happened?

W That's what happens when you have your volume muted, man. >.> And I've never seen that happen before, so I didn't assume it was normal. I don't play Namalsk servers; the map doesn't interest me.
  17. "I payed for it" is the excuse of a whiny bitch that can't play the game... and that's coming from someone that legitimately cried after his first player-induced death. I payed for the game, where's my defense? That's why I always play public servers; hitting alt + F4 isn't very hard when a hacker "Insta kills" the server. It's not like hackers are hard to deal with... you log out, or run away. Whereas a bitch admin can ban you from his server like an idiot because he can't accept someone being better than him at the game.
  18. applejaxc

    New hack? or what

I've seen that before. It's hilarious. I remember I once got kicked from a server because a different player said, "All Hail GreenS7oneGames the Bandit Slayer" before I changed pseudonyms.

    Are All "Hackers" Bad?

I have 100% TF2 achievements, among several other games. (not super proud...) Tombraider's multiplayer felt like a vs mode for Far Cry 3. Final Fantasy is only long because it takes 10 minutes to do one attack, and the storyline isn't very good. I don't like it's brand of "Fantasy" (it's more like a Rubber SciFi flick + fireballs). I was the only person that wasn't sad to see Useless McWhore get stabbed in the stomach by her poorly drawn lover. There's zero character development and nothing really fun about it. You grind for 99999999999999999k levels, only to die in one hit on the final boss anyway. Talking about character development, though, FC3 did it very well, although it took me a long time to realize it. At first, I kept thinking, "How the hell is Jason so good at stealth/knives/sniping without training?" but ignored it for the sake of fun... but then there's the level where you take a flamethrower to the Marijuana plantation and Jason shows how he goes from sniffling lost soul to badass. And then there's a sex scene and you die >.>

    Will SA be modder friendly?

I'd like to see private servers that were parameter modifiable, but I don't want an SA that's program modifiable. I have a friend that's very knew to the "Tactical shooter" genre, who isn't super amazing at ArmA 2, just started ArmA 3 after I gave him an alpha key, and hasn't played DayZ. I want to teach him how to play before I trust him with my life in a real server, otherwise I'm never going to trust him at all. If I could explain the game/how to survive within a more controlled environment (private server), things would be easier. Being parameter modifiable means I could change the mission.pbo to reduce (remove?) or improve zombie spawns, gear spawns, vehicle spawns, and et cetera, so he learns who and what is where and why. On the other hand, if I could run around marking every player but me bright orange/fuchsia, add a super gun with a super high spawn chance with zero bullet travel time + 1 hit vs all targets + 20m explosion radius + et cetera, I wouldn't play unless SA had a singleplayer/a singleplayer mod came out (like playing DaiZy because DayZ public servers are hacked to high heavens and private servers suck). The game being program modifiable would only lead to abuse; there's nothing, no offense, the community could add (Hall approved or not) to improve the game. Rocket know's what he's doing; if the game needs new content, he and his team can provide it after people like us save our time modding and use it for something less useful, like lobbying the forums. No mods. Public vanilla servers and private servers should be exactly the same.

    Are All "Hackers" Bad?

It also took more than 10 hours for Far Cry 3. Tomb Raider was a let down. Skyrim wasn't as good as Oblivion. DayZ/ArmA 2 don't really have an "End point," and the only reason A2 takes more than 10 hours to complete is because there's a crapload of downtown during missions. Mirror's edge was also pretty short. None of the big-title FPS games had long storylines, not that I expected such anyway. Anything else come out since 2010 that takes more than 10 hours to beat? (that has a storyline and isn't an endless sandbox)
  22. applejaxc

    Are All "Hackers" Bad?

Within a week? Deadspace 2 took 9 hours when I was 13ish. No game at the age of 10 took more than a day, besides Oblivion.
  23. ArmA 2 provided a lot of weapons. DayZ provided... most some of those weapons? Here's a list of (REAL) weapons I want to see in DayZ: Russian OTS-22 machine pistol http://cyberpunk.asia/images/OTs-22.jpg The OTS-22 is Russia's answer to increasing pistol-and-rifle crime. It is fairly accurate and uses more "Traditional" Russian calibers (5.45). It operates semi-automatic, full-auto, and burst. It is made to penetrate "Soft-armored" targets (Single weave Kevlar motorcycle helmet) http://world.guns.ru/handguns/hg/rus/ots-23-drotik-e.html This could be the Russian replacement of the PDW! H&K 0.45 Mk23 Mod 0 USSOCOM God that's a mouthful! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heckler_%26_Koch_Mark_23 I'll let the wiki link talk about the gun and skip to the important parts: This is basically the M9 SD, but fires .45 ACP (so it doesn't suck as bad) and is used by Special Forces teams (US). (The USSOCOM title stands for, "United States Special Operations Command) It would be a rarer spawn than the M9, but I'd imagine its ammo would be a little more common than M9SD. Maybe American Special Task forces attempted to quell the zombie apocalypse when the Russians couldn't? Hk USP http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lfpbuh9hKV1qd7v01o1_500.jpg http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heckler_%26_Koch_USP The H&K USP is another American-used, German-made, ass-kicking pistol that can fire .40 S&W, .45 in ACP, or 9mm parabellum. It would be the jack-of-all-trades for pistol ammunition-essentially a PDW that only used pistol magazines! The PDW kills my immersion in how it can trade magazine types so quickly without armoring/tinkering. Why not make a pistol equivalent? Another weapon used by US (or German?) soldiers in the area. Walter P-99 The last German gun on this list... The P-99 is a German police-issue 9mm Parabellum. It wouldn't really affect the game much; nothing super special to report. The 16-round magazines is nice? ====SMGs==== What about the FN Herstal P90? https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQ9yELowQ2noXsG7dlDhpsBVYlw4eTl_xHzBcmi8e7Y_dJa2snH http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FN_P90 Easily one of hte most accurate and (in my opinion) belonging to the list of top 5 SMGs ever, the P90 is an ambidextrous shorty made for use my tank/aircraft/artillery operators who needed firepower that was effective but small. Firing the 5.7x28mm originally designed for the FN Five-SeVeN, the P90 can reach 70-100 feet without dropping accuracy/damage. Compare that with how most SMGs are designed for 20-50 feet of operation! Perhaps the Russians were fielding SMGs for building-sweeps? The P90 would have to be the rarest-spawning SMG, SD/no SD versions existing. ====Assault Rifles==== I would really WANT an OICW, if the new weight/attachment system wasn't accurate. It's basically a double-tap sniper rifle with a 20mm grenade launcher attached. I'm not going to bother with a wiki link; it'd be too overpowered. Also, the dev was canceled when it proved too heavy/costly. It was featured in Max Brook's "World War Z," based on the "Zombie Survival Guide." The SAR21 (Singapore) could be cool. It fires 5.56 and comes with an attached optical scope, built into the handle (like the G36). The addition of iron sights above/below the handle would make it a good long/med/short range weapon. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SAR_21 This is another weapon the Russians would bring to Chernarus. The FNC/Fal OSW. Both based on the Fal, one from FN Herstal and the other from Britain respectively, are "Modernized" FALs. The FNC is scaled down to fire 5.56mm. Sweden, Belgium, and south-east Asian countries employ the FNC while the BAF has the OSW. FA-MAS from GIAT, France. http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRNXODiD0bprOz5UMAmw3ZDpRKHMRD2_WHkrS5kqrpvUWNjofs_ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FAMAS Fires 5.56 in semi-auto/bursts/automatic. Bullpup design makes it effective in-doors (another breach-and-clear weapon of America or Russia?) Or if not the FA-MAS, what about the Tar-21 Tavor from Israel, used (somewhat I think?) by Russia. Also a compact bullpup, the Tar21 fires the same caliber, has about the same range, and similar game statistics, but looks pretty cool and comes with a red dot/MARS sight. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IMI_Tavor_TAR-21 ====Sniper Rifles===== AI Covert from Accuracy International, UK Essentially a L1196A1 rebuilt with a suppressor intergrated into the barrel, comiign with a 6x 10x or 12x scope. (No good picture/link found) American-Used after Zombie's hearing proven to be a factor in anti-zombie missions? The Ruger M700 in place of the M24? (It's the civilian standpoint the M24 is converted from/based on). Very similar stats, fires .30-06. Used by US SWAT Teams. ====Ammunition Variants===== Obviously AP rounds. More recoil per shot, less defense per armor? Hollow Points (HP). More damage vs flesh/zombies, less vs armor? AET (Accelerated energy transfer): An armor-piercing bullet that still shreds on impact to soft targets, making it the closing thing to a APHP we'll see for a long time. AET ammunition is expensive and very odd-looking compared to conventional rounds-it is also unpopular (due to being undiscovered, not quality) and very rare. Tracers: Every 3-5 shots is a bright red/green/blue/white streak? This would make night-battles/distracting zombies a lot of fun. Imagine being chased by a bandit in the dead of night and your only option is be shot or tell every zombie where you are (like normal), except the 1K flare range! I think single-action and double-action pistols should be included, including double-action revolvers (of weaker quality than the .45 already in-game). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trigger_(firearms) I'd appreciate some beans. This took a little reading/a lot of writing. <3
  24. "Don't shoot," I ordered. "He's unarmed." "Like hell I won't! I'm hungry, and I"m not going to let him take all the food because you feel bad." Eric pulled the bolt back on his rifle. I stayed his hand. "Please," I begged. "Have we not shed enough blood this day? We hardly escaped the zeds getting out of the harbor." "And your panzy ass is the reason we didn't escape with food. Now shut up so I can aim. He just ran into the damn market." "Then stay here, and I"ll go down to talk to him. We don't need to make more noise than my Kalashnikov." Eric sighed, exasperated. "Fine, but you have ten minutes." I thanked him and rose, wiping grass and dirt from my hoodie and jeans. I could hardly tell him apart from the brush; the leaves of his home-made ghillie suit blended into the ground perfectly. Before I walked into Starry, I checked the magazine in my rifle, and the clips around my body. I left my daypack with Eric, to keep my silhouette as small as possible; you never know when there's another sniper. The revolver on my hip was pathetically light, with only two cartridges. Maybe the chap at the base of the hill had some to spare? I walked into Stary Sobor quietly, rifle lazily hanging from its lanyard. The absence of zombies bothered me, but the lack of human remains moreso. There was a flipped, rusting truck halfway into a building, door missing and cabin smeared with blood, but nothing worth taking. The door to the market jingled open, damn bells. I snapped the rifle up, weary of my fellow human. When no shots were fired, I moved in, scanning each display isle. Rotted meat and spilled drinks formed a smell mess, though I was long used to the smell of the dead and found this stench no worse. Thinking the other survivor had left, I turned to go, before I heard a cough and sniffle. There was an adjacent room I hadn't seen, door closed. Very cautiously, I nosed it open with the barrel of my gun. "Don't shoot!" Whoever was on the other side yelled. "Shush, you fool. I will not kill you." Such noise was not wanted. "What is your name?" "T-ted," he coughed. "I'm unarmed." "I know. I watched you walk into town. You have any food on you?" I shoved the door open and sidestepped into the room, taking a bead on his chest. "Yeah, you have any meds? I'm awful sick." I had some in my bag, back on the hill with Eric. "Yeah, get up." Ted rose. He was a wreck: Bullet in his thigh, a cut in his arm, shirt a string of threads. He smiled, and I saw a gap of black between his rows of yellow teeth. "Oi, we really oughta get you cleaned up. I'm Applejaxc." Ted nodded and sighed. "I know I"m a mess. But I've got boots on my feed and some food in my stomach. I'll live. Things aren't so bad." "I suppose not. Listen, there's a man east of town with a rifle watching the market. He's friendly, but any funny business and you're dead. Okay?" "Okay." "Take this in case we meet trouble." I drew my revolver and carefully handed it to him. "Two shots, be careful." Ted took the pistol and nodded. He followed me out the back door of the market. We swooped around the town and met Eric, not encountering trouble. "Ollie ollie oxen free," I chirped before approaching. "This is Ted. He's friendly, and he has food." Eric nodded and got into a crouch slowly, not taking his eyes from Stary. "I thought I saw a truck come through... I don't know. You guys here anything?" "No," Ted and I replied in unison as I sifted through my bag and he through his. A slab of meat in exchange for painkillers and some antibiotics. Ted popped his pills and smiled. "Thank you both." "Sure thing. Can we get the revolver back?" Ted smiled wider. "Sure thing." He raised it and fired. I was quick, Eric not so; a bullet found Eric between the shoulders. I hit the ground, then scrambled to my feet. A bullet found my leg and I fell to the grass again. Ted laughed and stood, going to Eric's body to take his rifle. An engine roared to life, and a truck drove out of the treeline, churning up the hillside. I lay on my back, rifle across my chest, pretending to be dead as four men-bandits, those bastards!-filed out of their vehicle. "Good job, Ted. You can take the idiot's AK." "Thanks, Jim." Ted walked over to me. I raised my rifle and shot him in the chest, dead, revenge for Eric, before the others opened fire. I tumbled down the hill, losing my gun and my bag, and almost enough blood to die. The truck took off again. When I came to, it was dark. I went up to Eric's body and found a pistol and some bandages. The bullets hurt, but that meant I was alive. "That truck took off south..." I mumbled. "...and I'm going to follow it." It took three hours for me to loot up to anything near my previous setup. In the south-west airfield I found a M136 LAW with two rockets and a MP5KSD with enough ammo to deal with a few zombies. I was getting ready to go, after extinguishing my fire and finishing off dinner, when I heard a truck. "Revenge time." The truck stopped, with its headlights on, bathing a helicopter in fine, white light. It was very recently repaired, with decent parts, save a windshield that was full of holes. The blades spun up with the deep wub-wub-wub of helicopter flight. I took the M136 from my back and pulled it onto my shoulder. "FOR ERIC!" I fired. The missile streaked across the airfield and exploded against the tail of the craft, after it was a good ten feet in the air. It climbed quickly, through clockwise by the missile. It spun out of control, with its damaged rotors. I saw it lift high, then swoop low, catching the roof of the truck. By the time I reloaded, both exploded into a great fireball. I took aim, and prepared to fire again. I could see the outlines of survivors against the fire, scrambling to make sense of the incident when I heard the tell-tale moan of zombies, and a lot of them, attracted to noise and light like the proverbial insect to sweet nectar or honey. Ten, then a dozen, then a score of the monsters surrounded my enemies and tore them apart. Their screams guided me all the way back to Chernogorsk, where I found a soda to celebrate.
  25. I was expecting a bit of a better turnout based on my last few short stories... XD Guess my ego really overcarried my expectations!
