  1. There is nothing wrong with disliking a gun for purely aesthetic reasons! For one, guns that look bad are bad, should feel bad, and their manufacturers should feel bad. Second, there's a great placebo affect to using a nice looking gun over a crappy looking one. Third: If you cover iron sights/scope under aesthetics, instead of technical reasons, then aesthetics are super important; it's a lot harder to hit something with G17 iron sights than M1911, in my opinion. A big reason I choose the M1911 over the G17 is aesthetics, part of it is personal preference and history, and part of it is the increased damage. Yes, they do. I've seen people go into buildings and find a Lee Enfield + 2 or 3 magazines and not pick it up when all they've got is a fireaxe or makarov. Y-you d-don't like m-my bandit voice? *whimpers*
  2. Me, too, but flares work better; you can throw one and start shooting if they're a bandit.

    pc problems

Some tips: A3 online is going to be a lot slower than A3 offline because 99% of the servers are hosted on the same PCs the hosts play on; there aren't many dedicated servers up yet. A2 online is going to be a lot slower than A2 offline based on your internete speed. Is your PC a laptop or desktop? If it's a laptop, plug it in directly to your router (via Ethernet cable); there's a 100MB transfer rate cap on most wireless cards, which sucks. Instead of just telling us the brand name/model of your various parts, can you say how many MBs of memory your graphics card has and the GHz of your processor? 2.1? 2.5? 4.7? Didn't read the end of the post. Sorry. 10-30 FPS is smooth enough to play at; I run it around 20 FPS and can't really complain. I have a rather poor internet speed and a Toshiba Satellite. Your CPU is not the problem; mine is only 2.1GHz, and I have no problems. If you're going to blow spend your tax return on a PC, may I suggest http://www.amazon.co...keywords=gaming for 1.2K or http://www.amazon.co...E6G2_B00B7JE6FS for $800? They're both solid laptops for gaming. If you're looking for a gamic desktop, however, try http://www.dell.com/...re-x51/pd.aspx. I personally don't like Alienware that much, but the x51 comes with an Nvidia 660 (med-high end graphics card) and a i7 CPU. Be careful on Alienware's website. The *advertised* model has an i7, however the price in the advertisement is for a shitty i5 version. I hate Alienware...

    Is there a sprinting glitch?

And another glitch: Has anyone else used the sticky flare grenades? That's the best name I have for them. Basically, what I've discovered, is this: 1/10 times I throw a flare at a person or vehicle, it stick to them. At a player, I have to hit them above the waist or in the foot, and wherever they go, there will be a flare stuck to them. On a vehicle, it has to hit the windshield/front hood without bouncing off, and wherever the car drives, a giant ball of red light is with it (which makes it almost impossible to drive at night; I've made a lot of cars wreck this way). I like to call it "Pegging," such as, "I pegged a bandit with a flare in Chernogorsk yesterday." I'm trying to get a recording to show what I'm talking about, but so far I've got about 23.46 minutes worth of throwing flares, missing, and getting eaten by zombies >.>
  5. Good god, I was starving. Thanks, mate :)
  6. Everyone who uses a 3rd party, non-DayZ supported program for an unfair advantage is a cheater.
  7. You use TS3 because you're a cheating bastard someone I don't like. And they're modified controllers that allow players with money to do better than players who can't afford equipment banned by the Microsoft and Sony terms of agreement.

    Picking up bags

That's... weird. I've never had that problem.
  9. It's cheating for the same reason "Trigger fingers" and SPUD controllers are cheating on consoles: You're using something the game doesn't support that not all users have access too, giving you a very unfair advantage-IE, cheating. Imagine this: You run a race over sharp gravel. You're barefoot. Your opponent bought shoes to protect his feet. Is that fair? Stop using teamspeek, wuss.

    Picking up bags

A lot of people have said that's correct... can't you scroll-wheel open the loot menu on the pile and grab the backpack out of the pile? I almost never use the "Pick up bag" option; I've always been able to do it via loot screen.
  11. No, dumb ass, any CHEATING team uses meta game programs for communication.
  12. I think you used flat footed wrong... or maybe I'm not used to your use of it. When you're "Flat footed," it means you've been caught off guard, doesn't it?
  13. The only meta-game communication we use is steam chat so we can decide which server to play on, and where to meet. But after we all spawn in, we stop using the Steam overlay. We used to play on a private server that used radios as the only way to use global chat. The problem was, lots of people had radios but didn't talk, to hunt other players down-which is what we started doing after being ambushed twice. But no, once we start playing, no more communications. The only exception to that rule is if I bring my laptop to a friend's house and we play together.
  14. Justifying yourself doesn't change the fact that it's hard to read, man.
  15. Communication... so you "Communicated" with your team across the map, while they all scavenged? Hmmph, I guess direct communication got buffed... OH WAIT! It didn't, because cheating bastards use team5p33k, skype, or steam chat, which ruin the game by taking the logistics-one of the most important parts of any military, police, or hunting operation-challenge out. Completely. The only way to "Maintain proper communications" is to cheat. And do cheater's ever win? No, except for FrankieOnPcIn1080p, maybe. ----- That being said: Play Arma 2/OA sniper/stealth missions with your teammates before you play DayZ. Learn who is the best shot and best CQC, the two most important roles. Anyone else in your team should practice both, while your sniping/confrontational units learn to drive, fly, and do the less-basic parts of the game. This is how my 4-man team operates: We have: 1 sniper, usually with a DMR if we can manage, AS50 if we're lucky, and M24 if we aren't 1 CQC, with an AK variant, M16, or MP5. He does most the zombie killing, and gets the M9SD/SD ammo first. 1 Confrontational (Me), who's job is to greet players we don't trust or sneak up on/shoot anyone that shot another player/has a bandit skin/did anything we don't like. We're bandit killers, after all. I take a Fal when I can, or a M14 if we have enough DMR magazines; you have to have a 1-hit wonder weapon if you're the confrontational unit; if you try greeting a player with something like an MP5KSD and miss, you're going to die. 1 Damage Control. Usually the pilot or driver, Damage Control tends to get the largest backpack (we all have coyotes), an assault rifle, M9SD, and a sniper rifle in his bag. His job is to kill zombies while the rest of the team deals with something loud, protect the sniper while he's sniping, be the distraction, and generally stop the shit from hitting the fan. I like to go into town as a 4-man team, because leaving a sniper outside makes me feel like a player-killing asshole, but if we know someone is in town and the sniper can get a shot on him, we'll leave him out. I take the lead and go into buildings first to say "Hi!" so I don't carry any valuable gear (other than my Fal + ammo). Mr. CQC follows me (not too closely) with bandages and a blood bag, just in case. Damage Control stay's outside the building, hopefully across the street on on the second floor/on top of another building. On night servers, we all don NVGs. Damage Control runs around throwing flares at non-loot buildings, so the zombies stay away from fire stations. The sniper stays out of town completely at night, and watches the roads for incoming bandit vehicles.
  16. Makarov is still spawning with a weapon, eliminating the first basic challenge of the game. Sorry for the toolbox misread :) Vehicles takes away every other challenge of the game, survival-wise: You do not need to eat or drink. You do not get tired. You can travel extremely quickly. The Stary-Elektro-Cherno-Northwest Airfield run is super easy, so you can end a 1 hour play session with at least a ghillie suit, AK47 + 6 mags, food, water, and NVGs. This isn't zombie survival. It's lazy jerk that sucks at the game pretending to be survivalist survival.

Give a reason to play on night servers?

Players would find/trade/kill for NVGs, then log into night servers and farm loot. That's how the game is played, anyway; night already has perks for playing: Zombies can't see you if you aren't basically right in front of them. Non-NVG players can't see you. "Noobs" throw flares and are super easy to find/kill, if you're a bandit a*shole. Low-population; the N/SWAFs, Elektro, and Chernogorsk will be almost empty. The only snipers after you will have DMRs, so if you're a bandit-hunter like me, you know to expect good loot from bandit kills. Fire-fights are easy, if you have an SD weapon; enemies will light up like firecrackers at night. Vehicles are easy to spot, even with their lights off.
  18. So you won't allow anyone to "Hack" items into the game... But you're perfectly fine with cheating by giving everyone a free gun, toolbox, gear, and putting vehicles all over the map? I'd rather take my chances with hackers on public servers.

    Need DMR!

He might as well, dirty cheating that this meta-game trade system is.

    Burning down houses/bases

    Shits and giggles.

    Burning down houses/bases

The A2 engine is very bad for fire on low/medium-end PCs, and I don't forsee DayZ doing much better, since DayZ will be based on a v2.5 version of A2 (as far as I know. Either that, or the A3 system). That said: That would be cool. If it was done Far Cry 3 style, fire would be a lot of fun. Maybe you could convert (full) alcohol bottles to Molotovs? And create a 1-15% chance of spread to other buildings? Can you imagine a forest fire? Or a "Noob" burning a whole minor town down to kill 1 zombie? Reminds me of stories from World War Z (Max Brooks). What a world we'd be in.

Hundreds of Zeds spawn at ballota, Glitch or hacker?

Hacking. He probably used a getpos1 getpos2 spawning code based on player locations. Was there a giant lag spike prior to this event? If so, you weren't the only person hit with so many zombies. All of the zombies were the same doctor skin, right? His coding was lazy, then; he only wrote (or purchased, as most "H4x0rs" are idiots that can't be bothered to learn ArmA 2 code for themselves) enough for one type of zombie to spawn. Why did you start shooting? I'm the last person to suggest "Dashboarding" on consoles or "Combat logging" on PC, but 100's of zeds and you've got that loud a gun, while trapped, while missing that much blood? You've got more balls than me to start shooting, man.
  23. applejaxc

    Need DMR!

Dude, play the game, find someone, and trade with them; metagame crap like this ruins the game. And why the hell would you trade an M14, that takes DMR magazines, for a DMR, which also uses DMR magazines? And the only reason you'd upgrade from a 1-hit kill rifle to a scoped one-hit kill rifle would be for player-killing banditry. Why don't you just kill someone with a DMR, as you are so prone to do, rather than cheat? Don't trade with this man. He will shoot you.
  24. I'm running a Toshiba satellite at normal settings (+high video memory), with a Integrated 3K graphics chip and 4.0GB ram. My processor is only an i3, and I get 20-50 FPS (even online). You should have no problem, as long as you stay plugged in/running on "High" settings. EDIT YOUR PC BATTERY is on high/full performance, not the game! Stay at 1km viewing distance and set terrain detail to low/very low. That will let you say prone players from very far away, because grass/trees won't be loaded around them correctly.

Kids on DayZ can be hilarious...

"I told you not to take the weapon..." If I had a dollar for every time I had to say that, or "I wanted to be your friend"/"I said I was friendly" ... ugh. I like to shoot dumb players and talk to them while they're waiting to respond about how stupid they are.
