I'm not apologizing. It wasn't meant to be offensive; you misunderstood the post and chose, and still choose, to be offended. -

1: I haven't been shot in DayZ in at least a month. Obviously whatever I'm doing is working. 2: They should be using TS in the first place. It makes the kills on both of them that much better when I know I overcame an unfair, shitty advantage like TS. Also, I don't hold people up very often. If they don't comply and look hostile, they're dead; if they don't respond to me in any way when I attempt to communicate, they're dead. -

1: I understand the joy of "Grinding" people on the internet. 2: You're taking it past its meaning.... I don't mean, "Bandits sound like X group because X group is full of assholes." I mean, "My fantasization of DayZ requires such unusual groups for the type of entertainment I seek to be used to add flavor to characters I honestly know nothing about." IF ANYTHING, my friends across the Atlantic and the Georgia-Alabama are should be bloody grateful I'd use them for the important, daring, and antagonistic roles. -

Are you kidding? I LOVE the shotguns as anti-player guns; killing people will crap guns pisses them off more. -

If everyone started jumping off a bridge and was "Standard behavior," would you jump off a bridge? It's really sad that a server admin should have to go out of his way to include that in the rules. -

Yes, it's cheating. IF THE GAME VANILLA HAD WALKIE TALKIES IN IT, then global chat would be acceptable; the game itself would supply the means to do it and encourage it. If Rocket wanted you to talk to everyone across the map, why the hell would he take global chat out of the SA? You people just aren't very bright. -

In real life, I'd pick the G17 last in my zombie survival arsenal, above only revolvers; it's literally a piece of plastic that goes bang. It's weak, so you waste ammo. It's inaccurate, so you waste ammo. It fires 5.45x ammunition, so in real life (and hopefully the SA) it'll jam like a sonfabitc. It looks dumb, so there's no placebo psychological advantage in fights. -
I did like its first season more, but it's focus shifted wildly in the next 2. It's social dynamics don't even make it a good drama; The Walking Dead can't claim to be a good action, horror, or drama show, making it a fail in all three genres, so I don't see what they can do to attract smart fans. I'm not trying to insult the intelligence of TWD's audience, don't get me wrong! I can't judge someone on the kind of TV they like (Unless it's The Jersey Shore, in which case the conversation is over), but I don't think TWD attracts a smart fanbase. It attracts the zombie-lover fanbase, it makes everyone get forced to watch it because their girlfriend watches it, and it had a well-timed tweeny takeover, but every time I've tried to enjoy TWD, I felt.. brain dead. There's no thought. It's, "Okay, he's looting the store. Okay, he's shooting zombies. Okay, I could have guessed the last 20 minutes of dialogue." I'm not trying to start a Flamewar between shows, so don't get me wrong, but take a show like Breaking Bad. There were good plot twists almost constantly, but the show was easy to follow. Even the slow episodes were funny. The only thing Breaking Bad did wrong was the last season was an attempt to make as much money on the show as possible; the story line was already over in my opinion. Or Firefly, which Fox canceled. It was basically an apocalyptic space western, with some cowboy-inspired clothing and weapon designed, spaceships, and interplanetary travelling insane rapist cannibals, who'd kill you first if you're lucky. It's plot was pretty good, with plot twists and action every episode, until the last few episodes where the plot pivots to focus on two boring characters I had no interest in. You can watch Firefly on Netflix. It has the actor that plays Castle. NCIS is a pretty good show. None of its episodes are straightforward, and the episodic sitcom-style is tied together by a lose plot that develops several characters believably across several episodes. I'm just waiting for Zana (?) and Dinozzo to call the Stork.

Can't tell if you don't understand comedy or what... British isn't a race, southern-state American isn't a race, and Irish isn't a race, idiot. And what was ignorant? Did I say anything is wrong? No, I stated that when I impersonate bandits, that is the voice I imagine. I stated a qualitative fact. I think you're ignorant to the correct use of both the word ignorance and race. Dude. Calm down. I wasn't comparing people with special needs to zombies, I was saying the zombies in the game are like people with special needs. If you're going to be mad and blow something out of proportion, at least be mad for the right reasons and really read the post next time. Or you can avoid the use of illegal dehibilitators because the only things they bring to society is nonfunctional stoners and a suction that drains money from the US economy in 2nd tier economical activities (ones that are not legally recorded, like garage sales). Marijuana sales have helped drain money out of the US economy and send it to foreign countries, who then control an increasing percentage of total US dollars in global circulation. This means that, as money continuously flows out of US ownership, the US government and the World Bank can only hypothesize how much US money is in circulation. It is because of illegal activities like this that the entire global economy is flawed; no one knows exactly how much any money type is in circulation, meaning that the value placed in each money system of the world is entirely arbitrary and assumed. One day Mr. Billy could go down to Mexico, find a vault with $3billion dollars, and bring it to the local bank. The bank then just made $3billion. The government lost the money to illegal activity; when Billy came into the money, there was no trade pro USA. In a normal transaction, a government manufactures a product or receives a service in exchange for money. Every dollar going out of the country creates a dollar the country will make by selling the product in question. Illegal purchases take money out without the US standing to benefit. Although you're probably too busy getting blitzed like a dumbass deadbeat lowlife waste to have read this. -

Just because you're on PC doesn't mean it's fair to use 3rd party PC programs; it's an accepted standard that all Xbox LIVE games use online communications, controlled by game; PCs don't have out-of-the-box advertisements for talking to people. And frankly, it's pathetic that a servers should have to go out of its way to ban the use of 3rd party programs. -
Hi. Thanks for reading :) So I've noticed lately while playing DayZ that most players use run (shift) instead of sprint (double tap "W" or forward move key), and I understand why: It makes less noise and you're less visible to zombies. Makes perfect sense. But what if I told you that you could have the best of both worlds: Crouched run stealth + sprint speed? I don't know if this is a bug, or something that is supposed to be part of Arma 2 as a short, quiet dash, but this is how the bug happens to me: 1: Double tap W 2: Hit X (or crouch button) The hearing icon on the HUD goes from max bars to about half, or less than half in the forest, whereas the sight icon is 1-2 bars. I don't lose my running speed (I'm still sprinting), but I guess the game considers me crouched; I can literally sprint past a zombie and not be seen. It's quite amusing, but also concerning. My other question is: Does the combat role bug out for other people, too? Running + V causes the combat role, right? Well 1/10 I try it, I can roll just fine, and then I can't get another role to work for at least an hour. Can you get too exhausted to be able to role? Do you have to hold V, or do you just tap it? It seems like it works more often when I hold it, but I could just be imagining it. I've been in too many gunfights/zombie fights where I try to look like a bad ass and instead vault while I'm 5 feet away from the target instead. So far not being able to combat role hasn't killed me, and combat rolling into objects hasn't killed me, which is nice. Third glitch question: When I go into the minor city part of Elektrovodsk (away from the industrial bloc + hospital) I like to go into the buildings near the edge where there's a staircase to get to the second floor, 2 ladders to get to the roof, and a 3rd ladder that goes to what looks like a rectangle on top of the roof that serves no function. On the top of said rectangle, there's a raised square at the center that can't be walked on, but if you vault, you can step into it; your legs clip through it without killing you. If you then lay prone, you go inside of the square. You're invincible/invisible. I don't want to put up a video example, because people that aren't already aware of this shouldn't be made aware of it, but if anyone else has done this, can you tell me? Or am I the first person to discover it...? Thanks for the help. As my friends from across the Atlantic like to say: Cheers!

I remember my first Makarov. It was the first gun I got that I also found ammo with. I was like "Oh my God, zombies can't hurt me now!" I died pretty quickly. -
Is this accusation serious, or...? It would take a LOT of scripting to make a flare stick to someone. I barely know how to do this execVM camera.sqf
-
No, they shouldn't be seriously common. They go as fast as cars. They make zero noise. They don't attract zombies or players. Running a player/zombie over is immediate death for the pedestrian. Doesn't require fuel. Very easy to repair. The only thing better than bikes in DayZ are helicopters, and that's only if you're good at flying.

I'm not a fan. I don't like it in real life, I don't like it aesthetically in the game, I can't stand it's "iron" sights, which are actually just plastic. If the SA includes A3's method of equipping/unequipping attachments, the G17 should not be customizable; the zombie apocalypse in all its unlikelihood is more believable than somehow thatching a piece of plastic to another piece of plastic. -
Noob Question about Saving game from a NewBie :)
applejaxc replied to nikhilkdipsar's topic in New Player Discussion
I've only witnessed 2 mass server killings/serious hacking events, neither of which hurt me, on public servers. The only times I've been hacker killed have been private servers. -
ArmA 2 is great practice for DayZ. 90% of players I fight never bothered playing the actual game and can't shoot for shit.

I'm not trying to be trollbait, but... The Walking Dead show is overrated. It's slow, it's story is uninteresting, and all of its characters are carbon-copy cardboard-cutouts that develop zero emotional attachment with the audience. Also, the grainy white/tan-wash filter is very unpleasant to the eye. The only good thing that came out of TWD tv show was TWD RPG by Telltale Games. Anyway: A customization feature for the head (hair color, style, length. Beard color, style, length. Eye color, shape. Skin color) would be pretty neat. It'd make me feel a lot more attached to my character, and I'd be able to shoot people because I don't like their Mohawk or fohawk or mullet.

applejaxc replied to nikhilkdipsar's topic in New Player Discussion
I'd suggest you only play on public servers; private servers tend to have very abusive admins, who teleport around, cheat in gear, and kill you or ban you from the server if you're better than them. I'm not over-exaggerating. Public servers do face the potential issue of a script-kiddy joining and using cheats to do very much the same things, but it's as simple as hitting ALT + F4 to disconnect before you're killed. If the server gets laggy, you can join another server without losing all your crap. How to tell a private server from a public server: Usually private servers have dumb names, like "Chernarus Pro Only" or "Factions Raid PvP 200+ vehicles 3P enable" Private servers are run by jerks that can't play the game right; they modify the mission.sqf or .pbo to make more vehicles spawn than normal, more loot than normal, and disable the day/night cycle. Private servers are leeches that suck the blood from DayZ. The concept behind them is flawed, and Rocket should have never allowed them to open. -
The current DayZ system of "Morphine and forget" would RUIN your legs; just because you don't feel pain (morphine is a painkiller) doesn't mean your leg isn't broken to all hell. Every step you take, your leg could get worse and worse. Eventually the bone would cut through the muscle and regardless of how high you are on painkillers, you own't be able to walk. So yeah, a new healing and damage system would be nice. It'd be great to meet a player and ask, "So, what's with the leg?" and get some epic story. And I agree with the poster above me; a significant non-aesthetic affliction would cause characters to make camp, suicide, and run to grab all their gear back, which is already done by bandits who won't risk other players giving them a blood transfusion or who are sick without medicine.

If the DayZ SA includes the A3 equip/unequip attachment system, slapping a scope onto a Lee Enfield 1983 (I think that's what model ArmA 2 uses) would make me feel like a 1337 pr0 British sniper. -

Not teaming up with them is like teaming up with them. The only difference is the negative modifier. -
Why do you shoot unarmed players?
applejaxc replied to maninthewall's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm a DayZ vigilante; I shoot anyone with a bandit skin at the first opportunity, even it puts me at risk of a zombie attack/death by another player, especially after I witness them commit murder or other nefarious acts... ...which makes me a big hypocrite. One of the reason I love playing DayZ so much is that when I have a sniper rifle, I play God. I scope a player and in that moment control his/her life and death. Do I let them walk into that building, or shoot them in the leg and throw a flare at them? It's... exhilarating. And extremely egocentric. But if I may quote a post I read earlier today: Why do you shoot an unarmed player? Because they aren't armed yet. I don't trust anyone that has a backpack large enough to carry a gun, or past the arbitrary "Middle" of the map, going north or west. I don't trust anyone that is in or near a car. I don't wait to find out if the car is their's, or they're just (un?)lucky enough to have found one, but trusting people in DayZ is foolish. Letting them live is worse, in most instances. If they don't have a mic or refuse to talk, you can't trust them. If they're coughing (sick), you can't risk being near them. If they're an idiot and keep attracting zombies, you have to make him bait. If he's armed and doesn't lower his gun, you kill him. DayZ is a dog eat dog world, not prancy flowers and sunshine happiness, frolicking in great fields of sunshine rainbows with all your gumdrop-smile zombie pals. And isn't shooting an unarmed player *technically* better than killing an armed one? Situation 1: Bob just spawned. He runs to the nearest building BLAM shot in the head. Restarts, loses about 5-30 minutes of gameplay. Situation 2: Bob spawned 2 days ago. He's sitting in the Cherno fire station with his brand new Kalashnikov. Someone comes around the corner and BLAM he's shot in the head. He lost 4+ hours of gameplay, a gun, ammo, his backpack, and all his supplies.
