I'm actually not sure if these would fit into the nature of the game. But motion activate cameras would be a cool idea. For hunting purposes you could set up cameras where you think big game will show up so you can return at a later date and figure out if the same type of animals spawn in the same places. They could also be used for security so you can find out if players are really raiding your tents or if it's just server glitches deleting your hard earned loot! Or finally maybe just setting up cameras in cities to see what Zeds get up to when there's no players to eat :)

Oh and if we have briefcases then we also need suits. And sunglasses and neurolizers. :D

Can I carry a briefcase in my hands instead? I'm not sure why but the thought of running around Chernarus with a briefcase makes me chuckle :)

Can anyone point me to thread that explains the differences between the current loot system and the new system that is about to be implement please? Also, a lot of people reference "loot bombing" as a big issue. So is this an issue with the current loot system? Or is it a hacking issue? Or does loot bombing only affect public servers or private servers? I'm not having much luck on finding out these answers on my own :) Thanks in advance.

I'm looking forward to the infected camps to be rolled out in the next patch. I know the dev's will be extremely busy but is there any more info to go with these? Specifically I would like to know if these are random spawns like the crash sites. Or will they be specific locations?

Can I ask what hard drive you use? Because of the way the game is designed it reall knocks the crap out of standard hard drives. Once I upgraded to an SSD though it solved my lag issues.

I'm all set for tonight too. It was a pain in the backside to set up... Until I read the readme properly that is! I popped online for about 5 minutes and I was surprised I was the only person there testing it... Not the end of the world I suppose. Do the testers have Skype set up for speaking too or just for text chat? Because Team Old Skool have a TeamSpeak server that could be used in a pinch if nescessary :)

I was actually walking across Pobeda Dam the other evening and just thought. " hey wouldn't it be cool if you could open the Dam and flood the adjacent valley!" I think that could be a cool little thing like the idea of being able to active the power station. Hmmm a dam that activates a hydro electric power station! Now that sounds like a fun!

In further thought I was thinking that an open dam could be used to take out large buildings that are held by either bandits or heroes. Depending on what you are will depend on how you activate the dam so bandits get to blow it up :) where as heroes get to turn it on or off... So to add an example: Bandits have overrun the power station and are holding the building to ransom and killing anyone that comes close. Heroes are having a hard time taking them out so they decide to flush the filthy bast.... Bandits out. Literally. They run off to the dam that supplies the power station with power (hydro-electric you see to keep the carbon police off our backs). They then open the gates to the dam and flood out the power station to kill everyone inside. The dam and power station will then reset after a suitable time period.

I wouldn't say a lot of people are losing interest. I mean the SA hasn't been released into alpha and it hasn't even got an official website yet (these forums are for the ArmA DayZ mod, not the stand alone). Once it has a website and gets on with some proper advertising, you will see a fresh surge of interest. Don't forget that whatever does get released will not be a finished product either. I'm fairly certain it's already been said that there will be no vehicles to start with. Only one map will be available. There will almost certainly be bugs to resolve too! -

As above, it's the first [NEW] item in the rolling change log, updated this morning. This is for the Mod too and not the SA. Another interesting feature is the FPS monitor. Well it's more worrying actually because if FPS is extremely I think it means loot spawns will suffer. It's another feature that needs a little more clarification.

Probably the wrong place to create this thread but I had no idea where else I could put it. Please move it if nescercary. Can anyone explain the rolling updates to me. I found the post in the announcement section but it does really explain why it is there. It has a lot of [NEW] or [uPDATE] lines put into it. But none of these changes are in the game. I am assuming that these are items that are planned for future patches? A bit of clarification would be great! Thanks, P.S. I'm NOT asking for patch dates here. But if the change log has already been implemented then I would like to know please! Well I also started DayZ mod without playing ArmA. If I hadn't had my gaming community and Teamspeak to get a little help I would have given up within a day. The first time I started to play I entered a night server which is very difficult to play if you are a first timer. Don't forget that not everyone that will play this game will be able to take to it like a duck to water. It might not need a full blown 20 minute tutorial. But it Will need notes and tips that pop up to let you know how to use the inventory system.

Is there not going to be a tutorial for the standalone? How will you stop new novice players from giving up on the game if they don't recieve a quick run through of the basic controls? If you the whole tutorial idea is hated, will a 'tooltip' overview be available to give new players an idea how to get around?

Well done Bakst! We are going to try that tomorrow to get all our vehicles. One of our other admins managed to get the two new patch vehicles working. The little bird and the Humvee. But the old vehicles still haven't appeared. We will post back here to let you know if the fix works for us or not.

Hi guys, I have ran into a little snag after updating my server to the 1.7.5.1 patch. Under the "version" heading in DayZ commander it still reads 1.7.4.4. The new patch has definitely taken effect though, so im gussing one of my server config files needs editing to read the new patch version. Can anyone tell me which file i need and what to change? -

How can you not like the combat roll! Okay so it is a little bit broke drone a first person view - where your whole body appears to roll the whole way around your head well you are still facing forwards. And you never break any bones unless you fall off a lighthouse. But it's a lot better than running at full speed. Stopping to do that crappy hill billy American jig over the fence then continue on to the nearest zed free zone. Now it could be switched maybe for 100 metre hurdle style jump. But I think that mechanics would look even more broke than the barrel roll. Like superman trying to pull out a wedgie in mid air...
