You might have knowledge, but your character doesn't. An idea.. maybe medical knowledge could decrease the time to bandage/bloodbag, cooking could increase the amount of blood you get from animal meat, and mechanical could decrease the number of parts you need for a vehicle. -
I was thinking that maybe Day Z could have some sort of class system. For example: explorer, medic, forager, bandit, scout, hunter, commando, and civilian all come to mind. Each class could have a different loadout (upon spawn), and perhaps excel in basic NON-COMBAT RELATED skills. I think it would add more depth to a player's respawn. Some classes might start out with a compass, hunting knife, blood pack, or whatever you thought necesasry. The class might even be displayed to other players on non-hardcore servers (I normally play on hardcore so I don't really know how this might work.) Some classes could be more useful for teamplay, others for looting/zombie slaying, and others for PvP. Day Z seems like it could expand in almost any way, and I think this would might be a useful addition to the game.

I came here for the nudity, and left disappointed. The idea of persistent character bodies seems cumbersome to me. That's all I really have to say about it. -
I'd really like to see this in game, but I don't think they should take up an inventory slot.

Um, I don't think it's worthwhile to implement things based on your personal vendettas. Spawning near your corpse would only increase griefing. When you spawn you are a new person, and shouldn't have any knowledge of what transpired in your previous character's life. Edit: Your incentive is to survive.. isn't that enough?

From a Roleplaying perspective.. meta-gaming is one of the greatest sins, but it's unavoidable. Some people do it, and others don't.. it all depends on the person. Say you accidentally stumbled upon your corpse, didn't realize it was yours, and looted it. Should you be punished? I don't think you should be punished either way.. It's really a moral/meta-gaming issue that can't be solved. Edit: On an unrelated note.. I loved Big Hat Logan in DaS. Such a good game...

I don't know what it's set to, but I'm pretty sure zombies aren't supposed to be spawning right on top of you. It happens though, and that's unfortunate. Their spawn radius will probably be optimized in the future.

(this is a repost from another crossbow thread - concerning SIGHTS) I use the crossbow all the time, and I still have no idea how to aim with it. I'm trying to be consistent with how I aim it, but it's rather hit or miss (really). The bolt always hits them in a seemingly random part of the body.

Rak and I.Ash both bring up good points. Maybe a loadout selector is really needed!

The class system would have one major rule: Never to interfere with combat situations. Your medic class can still roam the streets, shooting down noobs with his AK, and stealing their loot. But he'll still be able to use blood packs with greater efficiency, and bandages more so.

I agree in a way, BUT a lot of people have different skills. If this were truly a zombie survival scenario.. then people of all different walks of life would be present. The "go prone and avoid zombie while scavenging for loot" type skillset wouldn't be the ONLY type of person that exists. Maybe there could be some way to earn your class. Kind of like a merit badge.

Yeah can.. I've done it before.. though in terms of roleplaying it might be kind of sketchy. -
I found the admin, Codeusa, asking for a blood transfusion on US 9. After I killed him he banned me (server notifications says I was being kicked, and unable to rejoin). Nothing I did was against the rules, and right after his death notification came up half the server joined in saying "enjoy the ban." My ban isn't justified, as I broke no rules, and I'd like it to be lifted. Thanks, wildleaf

This is a lie' date=' and irrelevant. I climbed up the building because I noticed a horde of zombies shambling my way. I did see you run past, but not as a group and not up the ladder. I had no idea you were even up there until I saw you on the ground asking for help. Before helping, I noticed you had the bandit skin, so I killed you knowing that you'd probably betray me after I helped you (plus I'd never killed anyone before :3). Rightly so, but next time I'll try to avoid playing with children.
