    US2255, Possible Cheater/Hacker

US153 Oct. 7, 2012 00:01 PST (roughly) I spawned in Elektro, scanned the surrounding terrain for ~10minutes. Suddenly, without warning, I was apparently teleported about 1km North of Devil's Castle. In front of me was a standard cardboard medical box similar to what you would find in a hospital. Under me was a Backpack (Coyote). At this point I immediately disconnected from the server. [The elapsed time between teleport, me figuring out what just happened, and disconnecting was ~15seconds] 'NO MOMMY' was an actively connected player at the time of this incident, but I have no evidence to suggest anything. 'YOURLOSS' was also an actively connected player at the time of this incident. I admit that it is possible that 'NO MOMMY' and 'YOURLOSS' don't know eachother, aren't working together, aren't both using scripts, but the names aren't exactly subtle.

US 843 Hacked in camp. HUGE.

I like to think of the "hacked" weapons as being turbo-rare lewt. It's not like any weapon (read: literally any weapon you can name) is over-powered or gives the user some insane advantage, that user still is just as easy to be killed. And because I know some jerkoff is gonna be like "WHAT NO, AS50 TWS/L85 AWS ARE OP, THERMALS ARE OP, THEY JUST BREAK THE GAME, THEY MAKE WHOEVER IS USING IT A WALKING GOD". First, you're wrong, second, if you can't figure out how to adapt and overcome you're just bad. Thermal sights catch a lot of shit on these forums for being "OP", yeah ok, so they aid in the rapid acquisition of targets in high contrast to the terrain, big deal. Thermal sights have their cons as well and the cons greatly out-weigh the single pro.

    Anything for a MK 48

Can you confirm it's a M4 Holo SD? Not a M4 Holo M203? If it really is a M4 Holo SD does it have the M203 launcher? I have a mk48 with 1xbelt(~50rds) 1xbelt(~70rds) 1xbelt(90rds) and 2xbelt(100rds), I might be interested in trading it for that M4 Holo SD if it really is SD lol. How many STANAG SD mags would you be including? Can I talk you out of some additional M9 SD mags? Edit: For clarification, no I don't care that it's hacked in, I wont get banned for using it.

Alt+F4 helps, End Task does the same.

Disconnecting to avoid death is an exploit regardless of how you try to rationalize it. In DayZ you have a single objective which is to survive. If you disconnect to avoid dying you are breaking the game. "but but, haxxorszz!" Just stop. If you're afraid to loose your gear you should just stop playing now.

Well, yeah. I mean, what else am I supposed to do? I desperately want to know how my weener stacks up to OP's.

UPDATED DAILY: I'm Issuing a Warning to Any Snipers

My, what a fine dick measuring contest we have here! I've been sniping in Cherno/Elektro on my current life for weeks. I've yet to even take fire, let alone actually get tagged. Come find me, bro.

    CZ550 vs M24

I'm sorry, but I absolutely must disagree with your rankings. You're grouping together three different categories of weapons. Anti-materiel rifles: 1. AS50 2. M107 Sniper rifles: 1. M24 2. CZ 550 [Note: Can use NVG while scoped in] Designated marksman rifles: (The ranking for these weapons are not set in stone, they very much depend on user preference) 1. SVD Dragunov 2. M21 (AKA the DMR) [Note: Can use NVG while scoped in] An anti-materiel rifle is NOT a sniper rifle. A DMR is NOT a sniper rifle. They are designed to fill distinctly different roles. I'm not saying you can't use an AS50 in place of a M24, but it still doesn't make the AS50 a sniper rifle, it's an anti-materiel rifle that is masquerading as a sniper rifle. There is a difference, and it is of paramount importance that that difference be respected. Ignore "effective range", it doesn't translate well in videogames. Use the weapon yourself, put rounds down-range, you'll figure out what targets you can effectively engage much better than just "well this weapon's 'effective range' is only 150m, guess that means it can't hit shit past 200m" which is a total load of shit. Also, DayZ doesn't seem to take into account projectile velocity when it does its damage calculations, so putting rounds on a target past the cartridges standard engagement range doesn't seem to make any difference. [Please! If I'm wrong about this I would love to know!]

Rules of Engagement/Who is worthy of you bullet

A threat is a threat regardless of that particular threat's role or status. Obviously acquiring and neutralizing hostile snipers is the priority, but when there are no snipers to deal with I switch to engaging threats that are in proximity to my ground team.

Rules of Engagement/Who is worthy of you bullet

It's not necessarily a waste of ammo, even if they don't have a weapon there is still the potential for them having something else that is useful. The only times I don't shoot an unarmed survivor (or, anyone really) is when I am also unarmed or if shooting them could give away my position to a larger threat. Weapons are exceedingly common and easy to find, just because they aren't a threat right now doesn't mean they still wont be in the next 30-60 seconds when they do find a weapon, as such I neutralize all contacts regardless of if they're armed or not because that is my job as overwatch/sniper support.

    Thermal scope hax?

He's using an L85A2 AWS, this is a legit weapon. The L85's scope can be toggled between nightvision and thermal by pressing 'N' while scoped in.

    DayZ Is A Running Simulator.

DayZ is not a game. DayZ is not a simulation. DayZ is a social experiment, the sooner you realize this the sooner the rest of us can move on with our lives.
  13. In DayZ you have a single objective and that objective is to survive. Regardless of how you try to rationalize disconnecting to avoid death you are exploiting and breaking the game. What's the point of playing if any chance you might die you just 'lolno' and hit the abort button? "But I had good shit!" That's nice. Death is frequent and quick in DayZ. Loot is equally easy to come by. I don't care when I die, I might be momentarily saddened at losing a nice weapon, but I get over it because I know I'm going to get all my shit back eventually. Sure, I'll be bummed for a few minutes when I finally get killed and lose my M107, NVG, GPS, and ghillie, but I make enough trips to the NWAF that I'm guaranteed to get everything back at some point. Also the M107 is pretty underwhelming. I mean, it's fun to shoot, but as a dedicated sniper support/OW weapon it severely lacks.
