This is the best solution as far as I can see. Simple to implement and no immersion breaking side effects. Alot of people are over complicating it and looking for the perfect solution where none exists. All that can be done is mitigation. A 15 minute penalty every time you try to join a different server than the last one you played on (if you last played on that server less than 15 mins ago) would curb hopping nicely. For instance, if you're at a barracks and hop to two other servers before returning, you've just spent 45 mins of your life watching a timer count down. It also pretty much eradicates ghosting as it would take 30mins to exploit your new position. A penalty like this isn't too much of an inconvenience to people who change servers for genuine reasons either. If you log on for the first time in a day to find your home server is full, you incurr no penalty (> 15mins since I last played). If I lose connection and someone takes my place, I can either wait till a slot opens up and join instantly, or wait a max of 15 mins and join a different server. KISS.

Up until a week ago, I would've wholeheartedly agreed. However, since the loot updates in 1.7.6, deer stands are next to useless.

There are disadvantages to the 50 cal. rifles: the Audible range (450m) and size of the weapons which exposes a sniper's position to an astute survivor. To the people who want them removed: get over it and play better. If you' being frequently hit by 50 cals. , taking them out of the mod will not help you. You just be killed by the m24 / DMR.

Happened to me recently aswell. In fairness, I was server hopping so I figured I deserved it and just got on with it. Half the fun of the game is gearing up anyway, don't get too down about it.

Found a tractor near Polana with my ghillied day 50 character with whom I had the first and last l85 thermal I will ever know. I haven't had that much experience with vehicles as I play on publics where most are hoarded and hidden. Proceeded to drive west towards Stary in the hope of bagging a DMR at a crash site. I already had an m107 but I wanted a rifle that would work with my NVGs and that I didn't have to worry about ammo with. As I approached Novy, I decided to hide my tractor in some trees so as not to announce my presence to anyone within 2kms of Stary. So I drove a little into the forest to the east of Novy and parked the tractor between two pine trees. As I stepped out of the tractor my legs broke, I began bleeding and fell unconscious. The tractor was crushing me against a tree. When I finally regained conciousness, I died instantly. I facepalmed, gritted my teeth and held in the inhuman roar that was building in my chest and told myself it wasn't that bad: I'd respawn and re-gather my kit from my body. I spawned in Kamenka. The suppressed roar intensified. I finally found may way back up to the fateful tractor and murderous trees to find nothing but the mocking buzzing of flies. My body had dissapeared. My neighbours moved out the following weekend, and my throat has not yet recovered from those particular obscenities...

I know that without evidence, there's absolutely f**k all that can be done, but I hope that by posting the hacker's username maybe others will be able to avoid him. Anyway, the details: Server: DE 2020 Time: circa 22:30 GMT+2 (CET) (but it was probably going on before that too) Hacker: Keksi There were 4 people on the server when I joined. About 5 minutes in I noticed that every 2 minutes one of two of the other players would die. Then a few minutes later I was shot and killed from behind myself. I thought this odd as I was running at full speed deep in the black forest near Shakhovka. My character had been alive for 10 days before this and I had excellent equipment, so I decided to stay on the server in the hope of looting my own body. However about 30 seconds after I spawned, in shallow water off Otmel, I saw the hacker spawn in front of me and shoot me again. This continued for the next 4 times I spawned (I really wanted that gear back -- had NVGs and everything!), no matter where I spawned. I could see that it was happening to the other two legitimate players on the server too by the death notifications. Poor guys were probably trying to retrieve their loot just like me. Using this information, I was able to deduce which of the players on the server was a hacker. Naturally, he was the only one who wasn't dying. And sure enough after about 15-20mins of being teleport spawn killed, the hacker 'Keksi' left and suddenly everyone stopped dying. It would be great if someone with admin powers on that server was able to look through the logs and grab his GUID to add him to the community ban list. I thought it was really, really low what he did. I've been hacked before and even been teleported in to the sky, but never such a wierdly malevolent and deliberate attempt at runing someone's playing experience -- he just continued to teleport hack everyone even when we were totally unarmed. I cannot imagine how this was fun for him/her. Who am I kidding. It's a him. Probably 13, and definitely not a ladies man. Well, that's it. The mod is still in alpha, and I'm not gonna whine like a little b***h about it. Cheers for your ears!
