I have two characters anyways because I picked up an extra CD Key for $13. I just want others to experience this game more from different aspects. I have a survivor account, and a separate bandit account already.
-
I just said tweak, specifically to fix tents and vehicle storage and a bunch of other problems. I didn't mean a full blown reverse engineering project. I still think server side databases would solve a ton of the problems the game is facing and encourage more people to play this.

My friends and I are actively looking into a way to change Rocket's code if needed to tweak the game to our liking, as well as creating full backups of every single update. I love the idea behind this mod but the direction worries me at times. I am trying to secure my piece of a game that I love. A zombie survival-shooter with a few RPG aspects is what I have wanted to play for years now. I refuse to let this go to waste. If Private Servers were allowed, I would put two servers up. One with the current system in place and try to increase the amount of zombies that is on it to make it even more difficult. I would put the Zombie, back in zombie apocalypse. Another with PvP off, and I would like to add 2x as many zombies, and have them each deal 2x damage. I want to play a zombie survival sim, not an open world deathmatch shooter with some zombies in it that are of little to no threat. That way I would fear a horde; currently I do not.

Minecraft is one far-out example although the base game is entirely different, some of the ideas are similar. And as far as me insulting him, it was merely a response for his instant rep -1 merely for stating my opinion and backing it. I merely replied to his "carebear" comment. Keep in mind that PKing is one aspect of a larger idea here. If the only hole you find in my idea is how much you love the unrealistic PvP, then I must be doing pretty good. Plus, the option could be entirely eliminated from the server options if Rocket chose to do so. I am offering an idea here to be added to. It is much easier to shoot down someone's ideas or poke holes in it than constructively add content and ideas. I am far more concerned about customization and faster, better working connections.

It would not destroy the idea of this game at all. And if bandits were kicked for murder, then don't play on servers that have shitty staff that would do such a thing. And I believe you are a "carebear" for whining about PKing. Being a Bandit is basically the only way to stay alive in game now and I at least want a choice in the matter. Besides, that is only one point of this whole concept. Your narrow-mindedness says much about your intelligence.

Alpha state or not, this should high on the priority list. My friends and I only play so many hours each day and most servers crash or restart after a certain amount of time goes by. Each time that happens I lose anything not in my inventory, and my trust in this game goes down. If I can barely trust tents and cars, let alone backpack errors and erasing weapons, then how can I put faith into any kind of storage in this mod? It seems directly related to database issues, plus a few in-game bugs. I have played several games/mods from their Alpha state, but problems of this magnitude are of higher priority than what this seems to be.

tents are buggy as hell and I have lost far too much gear to use them anymore. I recommend storing items you wouldn't mind having erased in tents and nothing more.
-
Tents are basically worthless at this point because it seems that every server restart all of my gear inside a tent is wiped. This also applies to storage in cars. Absolutely absurd because this has happened more than once, across multiple servers. Please fix this immediately. As I have said time and time again, putting the databases on each individual server would solve so many problems, not to mention allow my friends and I to spend more time enjoying the game instead of testing methods to get the game to actually work right.

Do non-PK servers exist?
WeaponTheyFear7 replied to Ishkabibble's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
While I may believe PvP is an essential part of the game, I still think Non-PvP servers need to exist. Many are saying that eventually in this mod each server will have its own database, so all your equipment will stay strictly on that particular server. This will prevent cross-server exploitation. That way everyone is happy and the mod will cater to a much wider audience. Non-PvP servers will more than likely exist, but not yet. Another thing, although off-topic of this thread, giving each server its own database also opens the door to personal servers. I would love to play on public servers as well as run my own server with my friends, as long as everything stayed independent. -
Restore Blood \ Health Over Time
WeaponTheyFear7 replied to Astral (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Blood Regen should be added, but it should be very slow. Blood regen is also realistic. -
Player Classes + group perks
WeaponTheyFear7 replied to Draconic (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The Clip Size option was merely a suggestion, but things such as reload speed are not ruled out in that case either. -
Player Classes + group perks
WeaponTheyFear7 replied to Draconic (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Yes, the clip size would return to normal. Play-ability > Realism Every. Single. Time. If ultimate realism was the case you would need a can opener to eat your precious beans, or to smash the can against a nice rock. For those who hate all RPG aspects & CoD shooting, keep in mind how popular and successful those games are. Whether you like them or not, those games are doing amazing. I would love for this mod to do something similar to games such as Killing Floor. -
Player Classes + group perks
WeaponTheyFear7 replied to Draconic (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I had a similar idea but there was 4 Player Classes, each with it's own perk trees. ***I say in advance, since far, FAR too many posts I have read on this forum are hostile in nature, but something that carries over after dying would be nice. This may be an "MMO Feature" as many like to constantly ridicule, but ultimately (zombie survival sim or not) these features would encourage more players to consider playing this mod. Keep in mind, this is a video game and play-ability comes before realism. The following are based on an experience system that would carry across player lives. 1 zombie kill = 1 xp; 1 human kill = 10 xp 1st. Marksman The rifleman/sniper, valuable to groups and excellent to solo. Picks players/zombies off at long distances. All perks are limited (and may pertain solely) to rifles such as Lee Enfield, Winchester, CZ, etc. Perks include: Increased Accuracy, Less Recoil, Increased Clip Size, Faster Reloading, Increased Zoom, Faster Sprint Recovery, Decreased Shot Volume 2nd. Assault The Assault Rifle & Explosives expert, a true force to be reckoned with. A more valuable perk for more valuable weapons. Prefers to use an AK or LMG over any slow shooting rifle. All perks are limited (and may pertain solely) to assault rifles, LMGs, and Explosives. Perks include: Increased Clip size, Reduced Recoil, Faster Reloading, Increased Explosives Effectiveness Range, Increased Explosives Damage, Increased Max Blood (up to 15000), Increased Pistol Damage 3rd. Doctor The Survival Specialist & Medic, a cornerstone of any team (even a 1-man team). Can stay alive through thick and thin, all the while lacking the offensive power of its counterparts. All perks range from a great deal of areas. Perks Include: Faster Item Consumption Times (Food, Water, Bandages, etc.), Increased Movement Speed, Food Restores More Blood, Temperature Decreases At Drastically Slower Rate, Increased Max Blood (up to 16000), Additional Inventory Slots, Increased Pistol Damage, Slight Damage Resistance (5% max), Decreased "Rate of Decay" on Hunger & Thirst. 4th. Assassin The Silent and Deadly Killer, effective in teams and great solo. Prefers silenced weapons. This character wishes to remain silent and avoid detection at all costs. Perks range from a great deal of areas. Also note that Silenced Weapons also includes the Crossbow. Perks include: Much Faster Movement Speed (Faster Than Doctor), Reduced Visibility Generated By Movement, Reduced Noise Generated By Movement & All Weapons, Additional Inventory Slots, Much Faster Reload Speed, Increased Clip Size, Increased Weapon Damage W/ Silenced Weapons ****************************************** Additional Perks unrelated to Classes can also be awarded for things such as a certain number of headshots or kills with particular weapons and additional xp can be dealt out accordingly. Examples: Pistol Master- 250 headshots total with pistols BOOM! Headshot- 50 headshot kills of other players ******************************************* Constructive feedback is welcome, this is merely an idea and I am an aspiring game/mod developer. I figured adding onto this thread was better than making my own.
