  1. Why are so many "tough" bandits moving around in the open? I NEVER get close enough to talk to someone unless its a IRL friend of mine. If I see you and you have a better gun than me, I kill you and chances are you never saw me, because I wait untill you are out of cover and are a clean kill. If you don't have a better weapon than I do, I let you go and carry on with my day. I honestly don't see how this is an issue, and survivors can put them selves in the same place, just don't kill anyone use option 2 all the time.
  2. I see lots of people asking if their system will run this, most of the time its just people showing off (will my shitty i7 at 4ghz with a 690 run this?) but sometimes its genuine, even more often people wonder if they need to get a better/more expensive laptop. I normally play on my desktop which is more than powerfull enough, however I wondered if it would run on my A8 equipped laptop. The answer is yes, and my laptop cost me just over 400$ about a year ago. Some info and screenshots below The screenshot without the options menu open is running low settings, both of these are void any tweaking to the games files for performance, and I took them in wasteland because that is what I was playing at the time. Also, even though they say its running at 24/29fps it seems much smoother than that while playing, more akin to 35ish its hard to explain, but it doesn't feel choppy or anything at those frames, so I consider it totally playable. ------------------ System Information ------------------ Time of this report: 1/16/2013, 01:04:10 Machine name: Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.120305-1505) Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard System Model: HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC BIOS: InsydeH2O Version CCB.03.61.09F.21 Processor: AMD A8-3500M APU with Radeon™ HD Graphics (4 CPUs), ~1.5GHz Memory: 8192MB RAM Card name: AMD Radeon™ HD 6620G

    New Guy Comming Through!

Look for food and water first. when you get near a building you can loot, wait a couple of minutes before you go in to let the zombies disperse. barns often have shotties and enfields in them, if you must have a gun. If you spawn near a city the residential areas often also have weapons and food and water. make sure you crouch and double tap shift so that you walk slower, as this makes you less of a target, but should you need to its faster to get up and run that crawlng. Also dieing isn't always a bad thing, especially if you just spawned since it can get you a better spawn. The best weapon till you can get a decent gun (the makarov is trash unless you get alot of headshots) is the hatchet. remember that you have lots of blood and zombies hit for a relatively low amount, so bandages are a good thing to keep handy, but you need to not freak out and run out of a town, just find buildings with multiple entrances and run through them then bandage.
  4. bandit skin doesn't mean much. if you watch frankie on youtube, he has had the bandit skin a few times defending himself. keep that in mind, but yes you were in the right, no one died and the possible threat was avoided. I would have just said through DC that hey I have a gun aimed at you look at the ground and run away or I'll shoot. but that depends on gear, I fear shotguns more than AKs/ARs since they do stupid damage so I usually kill on sight.... and steal the shells for myself.

    Arma2 and DayZ on Ubuntu?

    http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-933308.html?sid=5273ff0716bcbf1dd31adc7e427a83ee try that.

    Dayz Server without h@ckz0rzs

While I see this as a possibility, it seems a little far fetched. Hacking by definition is something you don't pay money for, so I cannot see a 12 year old script kiddie paying to hack ever. On top of that they don't gain anything from doing it, its not like they can make money doing it, its basically just REALLY annoying griefing.

    Private Servers vs Public servers?

Isn't there a middle ground? Whitelisted servers, are they all private hive? I was hoping you just gain access to a server that is still shared on the hive, but you need to be on the guest list to get in. If not, private still seems the way to go, since it sucks losing your gear at no fault of your own. If you wander into a city without checking the hills and get splattered by a sniper, thats on you. But to get teleported to a group and nuked... it gets old really really fast.

    AS50 Ghillied sniper - > friendly ?

I always wonder what everyone else is doing while I'm on, this was cool.

    Well, i got impatient.

I would second the private server idea. After getting killed (only while fully geared no less) along with the rest of the server by hackers, I can assure you that you want to avoid that.

Need Medical Assistance? We can help.

pEar saved me from eminent doom by bringing me some blood, as well as finding a truck full of guns and ammo on the way. unfortunately he could not save me from the hacker hours later that killed me and ruined my several day life streak.

    Need assistance

Thanks to pEar for saving me. unfortunately it was all for naught since I logged into another server and was teleported around 500ft into the air along with the rest of the server... lost all the good shit we found.

    Need assistance

Hello fellow survivors, on my way to a looting run in the outskirts of cherno I broke my leg. Fortunately I managed to crawl the 1 km or so to the hospital and get a morphine injector. Unfortunately on the way there I was attacked by more zed and am now sitting at around 2.5k blood. I have packs of it, but need someone to adminster aid and am deftly afraid of bandits killing me for fun. In the immortal words of leelou dallas, plaees halp.
