Actually located a server that for the moment is basically empty. Wonderful!!! Found a map - hospital - food - drink - new pack. No rifle - I never locate a rifle with ammo and I like the axe or hatchet (whatever). Either way, this game finally is nice - But - can you play dayz alone. I will got hit by zombies. Not a lot at the moment - but enough to lose blood. I saw a video about laying down in a bush till zombies leave - actually works out of town. But currently I am going to pass out. I located hospital so I have blood but can not give it to myself apparently. When I lose someone is going to get alot - Map - Compass and so one. Hate to lose it though. Any suggestions???? Any idea how I can continue - or do I just wait - pass out and start over. The game without snipers and hacks is quite interesting. I just met one to many zombies and missed a couple hits. Had to happen but hate to start over. Maybe that is the game. Any advice?? Thanks so much!!!!!

Hi - I am searching for a growing community of great people to meet and spend time with Namalsk (preferably) and possibly other maps also. As I am in the US, I am seeking a US server but if there is no lag time I do not mind other countries. My major cconcerns are that server is password protected, growing, hack free, active admins, special events, and well controlled. I like changes and growth so I would love to see a stable community of players working together in normal server play and events. I have looked this forum over and can not seem to locate anything at the moment. I will continue to look though. I have also stopped playing on regular and current whitelisted servers as no one to this point seems to have a solution for the hacks or a way to got a steady group of the same players to work together. There is always someone ruining play or spamming side chat or fighting over something. Oh, lastly, and extremely important. I am hoping to locate an adult community. I just want to start enjoying play again with people who I can get to know and enjoy also. If anyone knows of a server community similar to this, please send me a pm or message reply to this post. There are many servers out there. I am sure I have just missed the best servers to this point. Thank you so much - Have a great week!!!

Found this server but timed out if couple minutes into play. Then could not reestablish connection. To bad I am looking for a good new private server to join. Seems possible the new update is adding more elements to the game.

Regarding the different private services, in my google search of the servers on the pages I posted as well as the others, I have only locate one signup sheet. http://www.dayzgaming.com/sysmodule/m/5756190 I will continue looking but I would think that a service within the top 10 on the http://www.gametracker.com/search/dayz/?=GO Gametracker page as well as others would have an easy assess signup. There appear to be 11 US servers in the top 20 on this page. Some clearly say private and veteran as I have been playing. I will continue looking but if anyone has a signup page link for a private server, please post it. Please only post the services with good 24 7 admins. Sula (above) is quite right!!! Thanks!!!

Check out this link I located. Appears to rank Dayz servers. I right clicked on the first one to bring up a new window and the page gave a lot of specific information about the server. Interesting: The number one ranked server is a private server. I think I am going to look at the servers on this page for not just good admins but activity, members, and other specifics before I join any private service. www.gametracker.com/search/dayz

I have been playing for about a week and 1/2. I play on low activity servers as there is so much shooting first on others. I play in northern cities and stay out of the 2 main port cities. There are many stores, churches and supplies other places. As I play alone I am very careful. Pretty much a mountain man now. I don't just game map - I use an offline map I downloaded by using ctrl-esc to leave game when I am in a safe place. Every time I use online map to mark a position someone is always waiting for me. And direction finding is not hard if you remember sun rises in east and sets in west and in game clouds always move east and use the city signs. Last two times I went to a main post city one person shot me in back while I was running past him near a store - then someone just started shooting for no reason. Fortunately, I have learned the map well enough to go into the trees and just keep running to avoid people. When I do have to respawn I always do it when there is only one or two people on a server so I can at least get off the coast - After that I just hide in the trees in different places and try not to show a pattern of play. With the hackers and problems on open servers I am hoping a I can locate a well controlled private service with some fun people enjoy game with. Good luck in your search. Dayz Gaming is the first good private service I have located. I have not joined yet though. I want to explore all the possibilities and good services first. Have a great weekend!!!

This is amazing. I just got on this evening to and posted a similar request. I have been googling for a private server all week. Also, the church thing - happens constantly. I stopped using online map do to hacks also. I am in a similar area. If you find a good - well controlled private service - please post it!!! Thanks!!!

Hi - I almost joined a private - Whitelist - service a moment ago. Then realized there must be many by now. So I thought I would ask - What private service are standing out as the best run services at the moment? Which should I check into which are staffed and controlled well? Surely, there must be a few which stand out above the rest. Thank you for your assistance and help in my search. I have been googling for days now and located a few threads here and one service in particular that seems good. I just thought others who are using these services already could tell me which are run best at the moment. Thanks again!!!! The service I al learning toward at the moment is Days Gaming. I have been trying to install Lingor. Downloaded file from DayzCommander - But it only downloaded file and created directories - I realized files had not been created so I manually opened the RAR file in the @dayzLingor/addon directory. At this point I could get maps to appear in DayzCommander but they still would not open. I watched the Youtube video again to see what I missed and realize the video missed the fact that you had a change in Steam for first map. So I found the informatiion needed to add to the steam "Set Launch Options" and changes it. Still nothing. Next I realized withing the DaysCommander setting - It is set to the original Dayz directory. This is when I stopped - So much and so much to put back when I want to play original map again. So before I do anything else can someone tell me how (specifically) to install Lingor or any of the other maps with DayzCommander or just Steam please? I do not understand how a program which appears so easy with the original map is so horrible with others - It actually does not install other maps - other than downloadiing the file - you have to do everything else. I do not really wanr to have to remember setup options reinstall things just to play a different map. Surely, there must be an easier or let's say more effecient way to intall other maps. Thank you for any advice or assistance!!!!!!

Watched new Sidestrafe video and elbrooke I think talked about burning barrels to cook food. Question: Do you have to locate burning barrel or can you set a barrel on fire? Second: During a google search of burnning barrols this appeared: I thought this video would be great for everyone new like myself. I have had so many questions about tents also - hiding - returning and so on. I did not realize to watch sidestrafe video you could cook over burning barrel also. I saw this video regarding waypoints. In the comments two things are mentioned. One, you have to be on a specific server and two, apparently there are two type of waypoints - one peope can see on map and another they can not. Question: What specifically is the waypoint mentioned in the comment that another play can see which could give away your location? Is it still as simple as just clicking a waypoint to do as the video describes on map and still not be seem by other players? This could be so helpful to movement. Question: I googled zombies http://www.dayzwiki.com/wiki/Zombies to determine the difference in regular and military zombies. I just appeared to me that military zombies moved so much faster than regular zombies. This page seems to just describe zombies in gereral. Maybe it it is just the sound but it sure seemed military zombies run up those outside stairs fast. Also, they really came at me inside the building. They all do stop attacking when I run into a tree and just wait for them to leave without moving. Has anyone else seen this with the zombies or know about the waypoint - map? I really don't want to be followed by a player seeing my map or attacked by zombies with my back turned because of a speed issue. I will add this - I could run crouched forever from all regular zombies to this point and with crouched making less noice, they stopped running much quicker. A military zombie caught up in attacked me while run crouched and I had to stand up to get to the tree to hide. One final thing - attacks - Do military zombies hit harder and do more damage than regular zombies or again are they just the same as non-military? One final final thing: Map distance - without waypoints can someone give me a way to just distance on the map please? Thanks!!!

Regarding the bike, I have not located one in a place where I have had time to figure out the issue yet. I assumed it would be like all vehicles but it did not work quickly so I ran. As far as map grids and time, I have tried a couple times to set waypoints using shift - click and there has always been somone waiting for me. Coincidence? Maybe - but quite strange. By seeing the distance, though, and running or crouch running I realized you can go a great distance straight to the target place - very quickly. I did use the map today, but did stop using maypoints. Took longer but felt safer. Even then, most people are shooting on site - in the back. Today - for example - I used advice and found a double barrol, hatchet, and pistol. Even with my horrible shooting, I could hit a zombie in doors once and win. On the other hand, I still don't want to get into a fire fight with a player so when I see one indoors (as today) or outdoors (yesterday) armed or not, I always get it in the back whether I try to talk to them or not. It seems to be the game on the direrent servers I am trying. In the new start I did locate a tent - and still have it. What is a good stratagy for hiding a tent - then returning to it later over and over? Should I mark my offline map with the position? Can not mark an online map that I can see - and if I lose it, that would be waste of time anyway - any thoughts please? Lastly, I am fortunate to be changing servers and spawning in different areas. I have seen a lot of the map in a short time - including two air bases. And by constant play I am noting churches in smaller cities I can enter, lakes - markets - and other building that are not discribed on map, and better safer ways to enter cities to avoid player on servers where they are trigger happy. Other players should be very happy with me though as they are getting a lot of great gear and supplies when they shoot me in the back. Hoping I can locate a nice hiding place on a good server for the tents I find in future so I don't completely start over every time. Let me add, I saw the strangest barn today - was about to walk in when I noticed two zombies - one walking - one crawling - standing half in and half out of back barn wall. As I get hit from outside constantly, I avoided the barn completely. I hate getting stuck on an upper barn floor with all zombies attacking. Even with axe or hatchet I can not attack quickly enough. I am thinking of a couple thing I did - One, did your press R to reload then try to shoot again? Does the server seem to have a lag where many things do not seem to happen as they should? Even on the best server I have times where something just does not work so I hide then exit the server and go back in to it. For example, there are times I just can not get "Run" to work. I do not want to walk with not trees to move into or get in any bad situation, so I hide and exit server. In every can, I can go back into same server and the problem is corrected. Good Luck!!!

I have been running crouched - and you are right - at times they do catch you. I noticed tho, that when crouched I make less noice and if I stay off road I make even less - so if I run thru tree and bushed to block their site I lose them. On the other had - I can be a mile a way from a zombie, in a room, behind a door, laying flat in a upper room - totaly quit and zombies will run quickly and somehow see me, hit thru a wall (such a bummer), walk thru or hit thru a door, and see and chase me to the upper room. So strange when all I have to do in woods is walk into a tree or bush usually an evergreen and just stand there and they will leave. And fast - In upper room of a tower and military zombies almost flew up the the outside stares and hit thru the wall (again such a bummer). As there seems to be no way to know exactly how low your blood is (specific number), they could take you out thru a wall or anywhere. I stopped laying down other than during moving to avoid getting hit thru something and not having a way to run quickly. I am trying to learn to run backwards and shoot or hit with axe at same time. Bicycle - I have seen a couple but have yet to be able to get on one. Not sure why and was not able to take the time to figure it out yet. Assumed I would get a menu to work with but it never happened. I did saw tractor as I said above in other post but I don't quite know what it does. Does it show tractor on map? Map distance - So 4 or 5 minutes to run about 1/2 a map square and shift click to set a way point other players can not see. Thank you so much!!!!

Great video!!! I have wanted to test my current rifle for distance but had no idea how to start. As far as marking a map - then apparently you can double left click or shift-right click. The double click will appear but the shift-right click will not. As far as setting a specific point on the map you want to save - like where you hid you tents so you can easily get back without memory - I am guess mark an offline map. With respect to all the super players in the game, getting my directions staight witht the sun and no compass, zombies, new towns, zombies walking thru walls and store displays, and just locating new towns on the ingame and offline map are all I can handle now. In my first week of the game, I really enjoy not meeting players that think I will attack them so attack me first. I had been staying near the two major cities, but really enjoy the road and traveling the map much more. Saw Frankie's new video on youtube and realized I could just stop in a large evergreen tree and zombies would not attack. Also learned in most cases I can run "crouched" and still been the zombies and run thru bushes and trees to lose them. Also learned I was not using my backpack. What a stupe! I never opened that backpack till today and used the huge space in the Alice Pack. I really like playing at off times also. When I restart, I always start at an offtime in a near empty server to avoid snipers. Also learned, I shoot like crap. In this entire play time I have only shot one zombie - and only because he was in a store and would not move. Used pistol that took only one head shot. He was not moving or I would have missed. I really love the chase and hiding. Really hope it continues. I located 2 store in a couple small towns that were loaded with supplies and extra ammo. Hope to locate more later. If you have any idea that can help me, please let me know - I love the advice here - It has been great!!! Thank You!!!

Regarding this comment - I did see and use "Save" in the tractor menu. But, frankly, I am not sure what I did - Another learning curve I guess? Second, I am really afraid to try the map waypoint thing if there is a chance I could be seen. I do understand the sun direction and know that I can run into a tree when zombies chase so I don't usually have trouble locating a town sign - then going to my offline map for specifics. Actually, I like the offline map better as I can put it in the position I am currently at - then move it as I move. Regarding the tent and other supplies mentioned in the next reply, I have seen tents and just ignored them - this is where I would love to mark a map. Even if you set up a tent, you have to get back to it eventually - I would love to keep a map marked with the exact position of my tents throughout the entire map rather than just have one I always have to run back to for supplies. Tent question - I will check google, but can someone steal a tent after you set it up - or just take your supplies? If they can take the tent I would want to really consider where I hide tent - If only supplies - well, supplies can be replenished. Now - regarding rifles and pistol - I have change at a winchester but thought the lee infield rifle might be better. Same with pistol - I switched to m9 when I located it. Lastly, regarding large cities (cherno etc) - I may try them later, but I have located to much in the smaller cities now that I can read the map and see specifically what cities have stores and larger building to explore. I to still need a hatchet but I am getting much better at locating water and keep canteens available for when I do find it. The tractor - seems a good thing but it does add the issue of gas and another good hiding place to the look - I practice driving in the arma tutorial so after locating the tractor, I had no trouble starting or driving it. The compass would really help and some kind of tracking device but as long as I can follow the sun I should not need them at the moment. And about ammo - that was the main reason I kept the current rifle - I had so much ammo and the winchester I located may have only had one. Thank you for all the advice and assistance!!!!!

I think I read that there were time when you got weak and started walking. But if I understand you, I had the problem where running stopped working or I could not use a weapon or lag was so bad nothing work happen correctly. I changed to a closer server where it stopped completely. Thing that does not stop is zombies coming through wall of building. I think I am safe then get attacked anyway. Hate that. Good Luck!!!

I used this youtube video. Instruction are written clearly in the description. Was quite easy. Just download file - make directories and copy all files to the directory. Start both programs one by one first - closing each - then I got DayzCommander and it start the program in the server I chose. DayzCommander is Free.

Actually yes. Map does not come up at current location. I have to find it. That is why I keep my offline map available and in the position I current am. I started a post about Waypoints but if you are saying there are maps that do not show where you are located then my post was worthless. Is there a way to get the map to work. Doing well on the current server so hate to start over now. Maybe when I lose. I do like the lower activity servers at the moment. I just saw the first person on this server a few minutes ago. Found a tractor - got it - and guy jumped out and was going to attack. Tractor was moving to quickly and he lost the fight. That is what I hate at the moment. I am learning so much and am not ready to engage anyone like that. But he brought it on himself I guess. I had been basically alone on this server till that point. I was going to get more gas but decided to stop and hide away from the tractor in case this guy had friends. Let me know if you or anyone has any ideas about the map and waypoints please. That would be so nice if it does not give away my position. Thanks!!!

Thank you for remainding me. I did locate a knife which I still am carrying. I did kill a cow and got 8 meat. Also, I do have 2 packs of matches now. I have not located a hatchet to cut wood yet. I have had many axes but can not use one now without losing the guns I have found. Someone told my the couple days ago about how food added to blood level so it wand water are priority. Have two empty canteens and other drinks and always watch for lakes. My main priority really has been reading the map, street signs, using the sun, and just getting around without getting lost. This is all so new but I personally think it is going well. I will be disappointed when I finally lose and have to start over - but I think even that will be much easier now. If I couls locate a long range rifle I would practice shooting on zombies but I have not located one as of yet and really do not under stand range at the moment. When I locate one, I will hide and look at the google link for that rifle to get an idea. I would love a compass. Really don't care about night gear. I just want to be cautious and not make a dumb mistake with the current gear I have located. Thanks so much for advice!!!

Found the link below when looking to see what larger backpack were available. I think I have avoided better ones because the names were similar and I thought there were the same. I located Backpacks under the Tools heading. Seems to talk about many items and where you might locate them. I just thought this might help someone as much as it helped me. The is a building in the city that is just one small room and stairs. Three floors I think - there is always a backpack on the third floor with the same name as the backpack you start with. I am wondering if it is really the backpack with 24 slots. Hope I can locate it again to check. It there are beter links or more up to date information, please share them. Played all day on same server. First day - completely new and lost. Usually taken out by a zombie hit or just lack of resources. But I am learning. Finally heard a shot while running from zombies. In the woods - alone. No ammo but a rifle I found. Out of no where a shot - I'm bleeding. No chance to talk - say I am friendly - new - nothing. Another shot while still running away - game over. What a bummer. First person I meet is a loser. Just wondered - is this the norm? What happened in your first player contact? Thanks - Have a great weekend!!!

Hi - I understand completely - I have not played more than a couple days. Personally, I am afraid of everyone. Don't know anyone at the moment. Suggestion that has helped me so much. Change your playing time and maybe your server. Spawn new early on a server that only has a couple people. Then go to a smaller town and get used to what zombies do there. Use "V" to jump fences and run in circles. When you see a large bush while being chase use "Z" to dive into it and down move - don't touch the mouse or a button to look around - just lay there and wait. With axe at least, you can use "S" to run backwards and this press left mouse button to attack zombies chasing you. Funnest thing ever. Saw it on Youtube video so I tried it. Also, if you don't have one, get an offline map to use to you can easily locate smaller cities with markets what are easier to enter. Believe me!!!!! I did this today - Got sick of big cities. Went in market and hit behind last display in main room till zombies left. They can only walk in building to don't just run out. I have had a huge learning curve since I got game a couple days ago using DayzCommander, asking questions here, and watching youtube videos. Practice seems to be the thing. One guy reminded me, when you start you have nothing, so you have nothing to lose - Just try stuff and play around - it is a game after all. Good luck!!!

Server Jumping?? I thought maybe a zombie hit or a sniper before I could move when this happened. I have had this happen at least two times on the beach so if I can move I always lay flat and go to 3rd person to get a better look at area. My reasoning was that on one server there was always a sniper at spawn point every time and so many hacks. But it happened today also and I have seen no one. Just restarted on same server and have not had anymore issues.
