massacred farms emote sad faces. we must have!

If I eat the mushrooms will my screen start trip'n out? O_o I like the premise of the idea: more stuff to do... more tools... more options.... That's what empowers players and builds a sandbox game environment.

Yes! HARD CORE GORE! Rag-doll physics would be cool too so when you get hit by a car or shot by a 50 CAL you actually get knocked back.

I love how you call American guns shitty but then show guns that look like they were made in your garage. AS50 is a sexy piece of hardware. Blyskawica looks like something my daughter made with old pop cans and strap metal. Also it's not an "American" gun. It was developed by a British company: Accuracy International Barret isn't a gun so I'm not sure what you're talking about there... Barrett and Beretta are a manufacturers... not a specific firearm. Look... I like the idea of adding guns more related to the area that this game is set in. I also like adding more guns that aren't these super elite tactical military weapons. However there's no need to trash talk other guns or manufacturers for no good reason.

Counter-Bandit measures. In game sanity?

I totally agree; we need more options and tools... not more rules and limitations. -
Killing innocent people in Namalsk..
Penny Sue replied to Unsung's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Finally saw this episode so I now the whole story here. The Governor has balls of solid rock where as yours haven't even dropped yet. He is an alpha male because he actually leads a pack and is rather ferocious. You on the other hand lead nobody and hide like a pussy. You see the Governor actually stepped out in front of quite a few armed soldiers and had the balls to pull a pistol on them. He took a HUGE risk and engaged them before the ambush. What you do is hide and snipe fresh spawns, unarmed people, and those who are no risk to you. You take ZERO risk. -
Here's what I've found... If it's pitch black no amount of messing with Gamma / Brightness helps. I can't see "outlines" of anything. All objects are pure black with no outlines and all blend together making the world one big black blob. Only thing I can see are the sky and the sea. It's great that it works for some people but it doesn't work for everyone. Dusk is actually really neat. It's dark enough where zeds don't aggro so easily yet everything is quite easy to see. I don't know at what time it gets so dark that everything is black. Personally I think it's kinda boring though. Zombies become absolutely no threat. Flashlight sucks because it's practically useless inside small buildings. Whenever you get too close to a wall it focuses down to a worthless little dot. They are kinda neat outside buildings as they give you a pretty good area of visibility. Zeds aren't attracted to them but players are! Flares are neat; they light up a pretty good area. Zeds seemed to be interested in them like smoke grenades. However players can see them from a long distance and it attacks them too... usually the unfriendly type =) I actually avoid night most of the time. I play it now and then to change it up but I've never had as much fun as I do during the day. Day time is more of a challenge and the advantage of NVG is dampened. What I've noticed is a lot of people loot at night because it's much easier.

I've ran into several and half of them were friendly. Even the friendly ones do kinda ruin the whole immersion aspect but they weren't just ice'n people for the lulz. Only time I run into them are on high population public servers. Find a private server with active admins that are good people and you'll have a hacker-free gaming experience. By "good" admins I mean ones that aren't using their admin privileges to cheat or help friends and also are active. By active I mean they actually log in to the game and monitor people, they have scripts and software beyond BattleEye to help them find cheaters, and keep their hardware/software running smooth. There are several to choose from out there so don't let some armature script newbs scare you away. If you don't mind blowing $30 on a game you'll likely want to re-buy in a few months then go for it dude. This is one of the most awesome games made in the last 20 years. Easily in my top 10 list now. If money is tight then just wait for the public release of the standalone version. Also make sure your box can run it... the game does require some significant horsepower to run. They will be totally redoing the whole client to server relationship by shifting most of the workload onto the server. This means you actually have to be good at cheating which will weed out like 98% of the current cheaters. I have great confidence cheaters / hackers will be almost completely neutralized in the standalone.

Electric and Natural lighting's V 4.0
Penny Sue replied to scoffield77@gmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
It's a cool idea but consider this.... some people like night time because zombies are stupid and easier to avoid. It's also hard for other players to kill you unless they have NVG. Why would I want to light up an area at night? So zombies see me and snipers see me? I do love the idea for a few reasons though: - Something to do other than PvP. It's good end-game content. You have to be pretty well setup and working with others before you can really do this. - Goals to strive for and achieve beyond "find food, find water, don't die". -
Suggestions for the DayZ standalone - thinking outside of the limitations of an Arma 2 mod.
Penny Sue replied to ruarz's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
It wouldn't explode under most normal circumstances. Diesel fuel doesn't ignite like gasoline for one and usually those tankers are holding diesel fuel for big equipment. Even if it was gasoline it wouldn't automatically be some mobile bomb waiting for any sniper to set it off. You need oxygen to produce the explosion; not fuel. You also need pressure to create an explosion and not just a flame or fireball. The thing would have to be mostly empty to begin with and have gasoline in it not diesel. If it was 3/4 full to completely full then no matter where you shout it the thing wouldn't explode. Liquid fuel doesn't burn; the vapor is what ignites. If you have a pool of gasoline and ignite it the whole thing doesn't explode; just the vapor on top mixed with the oxygen burns. The liquid fuel below is not ignited and is not burning. You would have to shoot the upper part of the tank where the oxygen and vapor are. If you shoot low where the liquid fuel is you'll just spring a leak with no explosion and doubtfully any flame. Even if there was a flame the fuel would be leaking out and only the vapor burning. The flame would not be able to travel up into the hole and ignite the vapor and oxygen in the upper part of the tank. All in all there's a lot of variables here but it's really not that easy to just shoot a fuel tank and cause an explosion. -
I love how you get all rude when people don't agree with your suggestions. You should check out the search feature or just read these forums more often because everything you suggest has been mentioned like 100 times. Several times in the last few days. Your option to choose your role is silly. Most bandits will choose survivor and then blast you in the face.

A game I think dayz could learn from!
Penny Sue replied to skull_monkey262@hotmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I think elements of Thief 1,2, and 3 would fit nicely into DayZ as well. -
People also server hop to: - Get badass loot with minimal risk. They find servers with nobody on them and loot valuable areas. Then they switch back to a highly populated server. - Sneak into heavily guarded areas. For example again they go to a 0 population server, go into NWAF, get into a good position, and log out. Then log in on a highly populated server and now they are in a good spot to kill people with out taking the risk of getting past other players in the area. - Breaking into fortifications. For example I've seen the Cherno fire house completely blocked off with barb wire. Well you can just hop to one server where it's not blocked. Log out and back in on the server where it's secured and now they are on the inside.

Fishing off Death Mountain
Penny Sue replied to Reverend Killjoy's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You dumb twat; you're still hundreds of meters away sniping people. There's nothing "up close" about it. There's also no skill involved. Maybe when your balls drop and you get a few hairs on them you'll actually come down off of Douche Mountain and engage in some manly PvP. Ya know? Like where the other people actually have weapons and can engage you in combat? We can all tell you're some pre-pube moron because you actually think this is funny. Eventually another braincell will grow in that empty skull and you'll realize this is just boring. Wow you capped some harmless targets with zero risk and zero skill. Booooooooooooooring. ProTip: Saying protip makes you sound like even more of a brainless mouth breather. -
Exactly! I can only game when it's dark out in my timezone. Yes I've done it many times and it's boring. The zombies are retarded; you can walk RIGHT by them! The only threat are players and their night vision / thermal vision gear of which I have zero chance against because I don't have that gear because one of them sniped me. WOW awesome can I play at night more please? It's not about being a pussy ... it's that playing at night is boring and lame. Obviously some people like it; good for them. I'm not telling them they can't do it. I'm not advocating that day time be done away with. If they like sniping noobs with their night vision scopes then let them find a server to do it on. Doesn't matter if I don't agree with it or like it because I can just go play on a day light server and enjoy how I like to play. Yeah, I know, not everyone has NVG and snipes at night.... I get it... some people actually like sneaking around at night. Again; good for them and let them have at it. What I've seen more often is people leveraging how retarded zeds are at night and looting up awesome gear they can use during daylight. I find that to be boring because it's not a challenge but I'm not advocating that their play-style be abolished.

Killing innocent people in Namalsk..

Sniping people you lure in takes amazing skill man. You are like an Alpha Male or something. Oh you know what's really cool too? Torturing small animals! But I'm sure you know all about that... -
how to trick carebears into a death trap
Penny Sue replied to Reverend Killjoy's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You truly are a witless dumb-fuck aren't you? Wow dude you really tricked those "carebears" good didn't you? All you've pointed out are the oldest, and lamest, camping tricks in the book. People have been camping loot spawns since Doom and QuakeWorld. Not like you just figured this out and are somehow informing us of something we didn't already know from gaming over the last 15 years. You'll have to go Google QuakeWorld because that's what we played long before you were born. Parents take note: Please review what your children are doing online. Otherwise your dipshit kids think this type of behavior is actually funny. -
It's leveraging game mechanics to gain a tactical advantage.... them's fancy words for cheat'n =) I think it's cheating but no where near on par with out right hacking the game.

Yall ever play any of the Thief games? You had to pick up the bodies, lug them to a secluded spot, and dump them. The only real way to hide bodies was to actually carry them off and hide them! You would throw them into a secluded room, off a wall, into some water, whatever but it wasn't just "click... click... ok it's gone!" There was risk in doing it too because you had to actually move around slowly with this corpse on your back. It also made more noise.
-
I just read this entire thread because the topic and original post struck home with me. I haven't even played that long and I'm already starting to feel like there's not much left to do. Once I learned that zombies are not even a threat then a lot of the game's difficulty and ultimately it's awesomeness faded away. I used to be so worried about zombies and try to sneak everywhere. It was exhilarating and a lot of fun. Now I just run into town and go from building to building with little regard to the zombies. Why should I be worried? I start with nothing of value so have nothing to loose so what if I die? They not only stop running in buildings but usually just stop pursuit completely! All you REALLY have to do is break line of sight from them... be it a wall, a pine tree, whatever... they soon forget you ever existed. I get moderately equipped in a matter of minutes.... assault rifle, pistol, plenty of ammo, hatchet, matches, canteens, food.... I'm set; I could go live in the woods indefinitely with practically no risk. That's what the OP means by "I won!" I mean the whole point was to survive the zombie apoc.... well I did and it took like 5 minutes. Now what? Go find a vehicle? What for... so I can drive around and play GTA: Zombie Apoc ? I don't really NEED one but ya its kinda cool. I drove around a Ural, loaded it full of stuff, and I'm still winning.... now what? Go PvP? That's about all that's left. Players are the only REAL threat in the game. So why bother with all of the survival stuff if all we really have to look forward to is shooting other players? There's a bazillion other games on the market specifically design to for this and most of them done better than ArmA 2. I'd like to see two things change: 1) Survival should not just be more difficult but players should be more worried about not dieing. Simple things like not being able to run forever (yes I know it's coming) and zombies running inside buildings would be a good start. They don't have to be "buffed" it's just that running from them is WAY too easy. One little morphine injection fixes broken bones? Too easy... breaking a bone is a big deal and it's practically a death sentence if you don't have any real medical attention. Zombies can't get me in my vehicle. It's practically a moving safe zone. They should be able to pull you out or tip over the vehicle or something to make you worry about stopping near zombies. 2) If the game isn't supposed to be CounterStrike: Zombies!!111 then what else are we working toward? What's the end game if it's not PvP? I love the open and free PvP here; it adds a lot to the risk of surviving.....but is that all we'll have for end game content? Would like to see this really fleshed out.
