I've held up three people so far. The first, we spotted him going into the Berezino supermarket. My armed mate covered the back with his M4 and I went around the front with my 357. He came out the front and I ordered him to stop and instructed him how to surrender. I took his can-opener and epinephrine and we decided what to do with him. We came to two options we could offer him. One, he turns and runs back south, or two, he fistfights a zombie, we bandage him up, and he can come with us. He chose the latter, and I just kept my weapon ready and watched him while he looted. By the time we were less suspicious and looting Rify, he had several chances to kill one of us in isolation, but he didn't. We took him to the North-east airfield, stopping for a sit at the lake, and waved him off as he set off on his own. We knew that if we killed him for no reason we would be creating a bandit that would never trust anyone again. The second we spotted at the North-east strip. My mate was looting the hangars with me on overwatch with a scoped mosin. I spotted a guy in a bright orange rain-coat, and he was told to surrender while I moved down. We cuffed him and checked his gear. He had a lot of food and ammo, but no firearms. We kept an eye out from the ATC while he looted, then he set off for the Olsha radiotower. We decided to test our tracking skills, and found a few open doors in Olsha proper but no sign of him. We then headed to Guba, where we found him again. He was so excited to see us, we decided to give him a 357, and he gave us a pile of fresh fruit and canned food as thanks and headed off. The third was during the same session. I was watching Rify from the hill as my buddy checked the ship. I saw a guy with matching bright red motorcycle helmet and backpack entering the ship, so my mate waited on the deck and held him up. The guy asked if we were "The heroes", and told us he had met a guy who told him about two geared players who looked out for him and gave him a gun. As they talked, I noticed another survivor in a bright-orange jacket heading in. It was the first player, and they hung out on the ship and I emerged from my hiding spot to give them a wave. Images under the cut I'm not saying this is what will happen every time you get held up. But it isn't always about getting your pristine gear and force feeding you inedibles. We do it respectfully and cautiously. If you return that respect and don't threaten us we are likely to help you out with a bit of gear, some directions if you're lost, or even some protection. It is a gamble on both sides, but can make for some of the most exciting interaction DayZ can offer.
