If you were an in game item what would you be?
GhillieTV replied to Michaelvoodoo25's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
No idea. Epi-pen. Early days every squad wanted me, now they realise I'm pretty useless except in rare situations, and more often than not a waste of space. -

You chose...poorly.

Actually, yes. But not just on server restart. There is a delay much the same as inactive tents. I believe most are 4 days by default but someone else might be able to correct me there.

The only thing I love about this thread is that a forum mod altered the title ingeniously. Beans and kudos. -
The Art Of Tent Hunting [ Base Hunting ]
GhillieTV replied to ElakanOnDayZ's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The amount of tents I find at Kozlova is high. The amount of tents with anything worth a damn in them is very low. Believe it or not, despite it beings insanely well known, the best places are still the west and north fringes of the map. Simply because only people intentionally hunting tents/vehicles are out there. Which greatly reduces the traffic that might notice your tent/s. Patience, and attention to good tent placements will yield the best results. -
Do a quick google search and some basic sifting for info. The hacks that apparently (from all source material available) haven't been detected have a monthly subscription. That pretty much shits in the face of your "definition", which isn't even close to a definition. Add another google search for "Script Kiddie" while you're at it.Your best bet is whitelisted or at least passworded servers. Most scripters/hackers won't bother to sign up to a forum just to troll a server. Other than that, sadly you can really only pray and hope.

/Sigh, nobody actually has any real knowledge of what they post anymore... Aside from this glowing example of copy paste, from when your icon starts blinking, you actually have a while before it kicks in. I know you can run at least 1800 metres, I haven't tested how long if you just stand still, and what the difference is between exerted and not. Suffice to say you can indeed last several minutes if you are prepared before you start taking damage.

How i killed my first bandit haker
GhillieTV replied to Pancho (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
You more likely were the "victim" of a server hopper, as Janen stated. They just jump servers at military hotspots (in your case Stary Sobor) and ransack the loot. The fact he tried to kill you with M9SD rather than his primary backs the notion he wasn't expecting you in front of him, and therefore was not prepared to one shot you. Consider yourself lucky for looting a (probably) legitmate player, since scripters don't bother hunting loot. -
Base Fortifications?
GhillieTV replied to clintmbaptiste@gmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Sandbags block zombies, fairly certain tank traps do also, they only walk through barbed wire. Haven't seen any glitching through walls past sandbags myself but I assume it's possible. -
OMGWTF ..anyone know this guy ? Need to see if he can keep his word.
GhillieTV replied to Hetstaine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't doubt the game itself being awesome, my curiousity is whether between the hacker fest that people are used to, the large amount of time that people have already played the game, and the competitors coming in, will a standalone version of essentially the same game with some tweaks be able to keeep solid player interest considering most gamers now have the attention span of...oh look, a chipmunk. -
It's definitely game manipulation. Cheating is fairly perspective based at that point. Some would suggest using a 3rd party loot map is cheating. Some suggest joining servers with nametags and a sniper rifle is cheating. Meh.

Not a deal I'd take. It will definitely be out this year, Rocket knows it will collapse if it doesn't after he has stated this would be the case. The real question is, what kind of condition will it be in? -
In a duel, What side arm would you want?
GhillieTV replied to merrfack's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Seriously, if you can't get a headshot in from 20m on a standing static target (as in a duel) then you have problems. The amount of bullets you have should really be trivial at that point. -
In a duel, What side arm would you want?
GhillieTV replied to merrfack's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The revolver will not mess anyone up with one shot that isn't a headshot. It's pretty much just as bad as every other gun at close range. The benefit to the revolver is it has good accuracy at longer ranges than most other sidearms, due in part to it's iron sights.Makarov at 20m. Speed and recoil means I can just unload at clip in the direction of your head and something will likely pop. Otherwise Revolver for the one shot. (Headshots with the rev are just too damn easy) -
That would be because it is a 10 minute cycle. This thread has all the details, which have been confirmed. Most of the suggestions in here vary from close to accurate to completely ridiculous, but for the most part they are just wrong.

item spawning after get off the vehicle
GhillieTV replied to Triela's topic in New Player Discussion
The reason you are having trouble finding loot is the speed at which you enter an area via ATV, combined with the fact that you cannot set off spawns while in a vehicle. Loot spawns every 10 minutes, when you are within a certain zone. You will almost never hit a spawn timer while in a vehicle, because you tend to get off (allowing loot to spawn) within the no-spawn zone, whereas approaching by foot you generally do some zombie dodging, proning and whatnot that gives you more time in the desired area. EDIT: If you want the respawns to work properly, moving more than 200m is not how to do it. Check this thread for details regarding the spawning system for loot. -
Trololol.

Rare =/= scripted. What I would give if the AS50 TWS was truely rare. As it is, every skiddie has one, doesn't know how to use it, and scripts another when they inevitably die to a hatchet within their first 10 minutes camping a terrible spot on electro hill.

To be fair, he probably did get it. Unfortunately your "guide" is extremely basic, and in most cases, generally wrong. - As Guardian mentioned, the best camps tend to be located on low pop servers, to decrease the amount of potential people to find said camp. High pop servers generally either have empty or crap tents. - Finding camps at night without nvg's is actually quite difficult if they are placed properly. The best time is early to mid morning, although to be honest, it really doesn't matter as people rarely sit guard on their camps, if you run into the owner you are just unlucky. - Setting a map location is great, but not as a "pick this spot and check it". Your best option is in fact to scour a wide line, usually far west or far north. While decent players will set up shop in the best brush, alot of players will get lazy and just place it somewhere they think noone will travel anyway. Either way, a combing of an entire section is a much better idea than single target checking. - Advising people to disconnect "if they are a douchebag", makes you king douchebag. Just saying... The trick to finding camps is patience, that's really about it. Run up the far west, across the north, do the Guba loop and if you aren't a fully decked out ghillie sniper by the end of it, you picked a terribly unlucky server. EDIT: After a while, you'll notice common camp spots. Heavy brush areas tend to be used on alot of servers. This will speed up the process somewhat but it's still just a long scavenging mission.

I see "Free gear" and I imagine someone helping out with some beans, maybe an alice pack and a winchester or something. Then I see top tier gear that will inevitably compound the camping snipers with terrible aim issue. Bad person. Bad.
