The idea itself, sleeping, is not a bad idea. But the constant thought, that you could die any moment while not playing, it's just to extreme. There are just too many players (I think the predominant part of the players) who got a job or responsabilities, like said before. I for one only play during the evening, for maybe 3 hours. Then my character would just be in the server for 21 hours. Not to mention the stress I'd have everytime I want to play a bit DayZ, I would never be able to quickly log out, for example when I'm needed irl. I'd always have to find a good spot to hide first, where I would be for almost 24 hours, and in servers where are 40-50 players in average that's quite dangerous. So imo this will never make it's way, there are just too many players who couldn't afford it. But I'm looking forward for any similar realization.

Player/Survivor screams/yell when injured
varadus replied to liquidcactus's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Agreed. It's funny, yesterday I thought of the same idea. I definitely would love this enhancement. -
Funny ideas, but then I would rather feel like I'm in Sims

I like it just the way it is, maybe there could be zombies who are a little stronger, and others who are weaker. Aren't they able to bite you while crouching? But until the standalone hasn't come out, we don't have to argue about the current animations anyway. I hope you aren't serious about the fingernails though

This is new to me, since others have just disappeared in front of my eyes. If they could be shot for 30 seconds after they disconnect, there wouldn't be that many complaints about the abuse of alt+f4

Yeah and then they could rename it to GayZ!

All right that's nice, no need to worry then ;)

For a long time I was thinking about how to prevent the use of the good old combination alt+f4 (or just manual disconnecting). Sadly a lot of players are taking advantage of the possibility to just log out when they are in confrontation with another survivor. I think many players beside me are annoyed about these cheap sudden disappearances. But now an idea flashed into my mind, which should be helping to avoid such cases. I thought of a new logout system. The difference to the current system would be a time counter which appears as soon as the player wants to log out. The character would stand there (i thought about 10 seconds) until the time counter is finished. During this countdown, the player wouldn't be able to move nor to shoot. Also, if he gets injured, the countdown will be aborted (optional). If a player disconnects via alt+f4, the character would not disappear, so still be in the game, until the timer has counted down. Now, the only problem I noticed would be a connection loss. Then it would be rather annoying when you are in the middle of a city and your character just stands there for 10 seconds. I'm not sure about it, but I think they are able to differentiate between a connection loss and manual disconnection. Enlighten me please. PS: This suggestion may be more realizable in the standalone version. Now you talk :P

the one thing that will stop me buying the standalone
varadus replied to WhipDiddyWhip's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The standalone will not be using the arma 3 engine. Hall is planning to use an advanced arma 2 engine, a branch to "Take on helicopter" (see below). http://qewd.com/forum/topics/dayz-standalone-engine
