  1. 13 to 16 seems popular. I expected this game to attract an older crowd (34 here)

    Disappointed new player.

Hi OP. I'm new just like you but hopfully I can help you out a little. First off you should get DayZ Commander. That way you can filter out unoffical servers as well as a few other things. Second you should learn on low population servers, like 5 to 15 online at a time. That way you'll really get a feel of the game like in zombie control and locations within the DayZ world. Once you get a feel of the game and some decent gear you can them move onto higher population servers and make friends, help others or be a dirty bandit. This is the path I'm taking (minius the bandit) and so far it's the best game I've ever played.
  3. Being a newb, only a few days into the game but having a character with some fairly solid gear and knowing you'll die soon enough. I managed to get enough supplies to run up to the NW air strip where I found a M4A1 CCO, a Glock with torch on the end plus plenty of ammo for both and the biggest backpack. I then backed out and down to Vybor and Pustoshka picking up bits and pieces along the way including a silenced pistol from a dead body. Lucky me for a new player but I know I'm going to die soon and I'm feeling the preasure, I'm so nervous when I log back in. Living up north I'm told is a lot safer but I'm hooked on the air field loot and I know it'll be the death of me soon. How did it feel when you had your first good/well geared character die? Should I start looking for a tent to colect gear for when my death comes?

How not to survive in DayZ -- Going North

Nice one. I've never understood "lets play" videos or enjoyed them but for DayZ they work perfect. Can't get enough of these vids.

    First time playing..damn shame

I found an AFK sniper yesterday (my 2nd day of play) and took all his gear, I wasn't looking for him but just stumbled onto him. I guess I was in the wrong place at the right time. Anyway, being a total noob that I am the gear didn't last long and I've learned not to use up ammo on zombies.

New player. Love the game but...

I've been following DayZ for a while on youtube and last night finaly decided to get the ARMA2 pack on Steam and download the mod. I'm loving but for some reason I'm a magnet for zombies miles around. I only have to fart and I attract zombies which leaves me no option then to die or abort (which seems like cheating) If I'm lucky, like really lucky I might find an axe or a shotgun before I bleed out. Having watched tonnes of videos from people like FRANKIEonPCin1080p or Rhinocrunch who seem to just walk around zombies and the few that do bother to notice them they take down quickly. I know they are the best or "pro" players but what am I doing wrong? Can anyone give a total newb a few bit of advice or point to a guide. Just fyi I'm not running around all crazy, I do crouch around and try to avoid zombies it's just that they are everywhere.

I'm based in London UK. Knowing a good server would be awesome.

You've all been a lot of help, thank you very much. I'm now useing DayZ Commander and have a much better grasp of the game. Hopfully I'll improve for day 2! :D

New player. Love the game but...

Sorry. Final question... I'm told that my character will follow me when I switch servers but this seems false, I must have 4 or 5 characters by now alive on verious servers

Thanks for the replies. I'm checking out the stickies (should have done that first :P ) The game seems like lots of trial and error which is awesome. Fed up with games who hold your hand from start to finish.
