Actually thats not true, 1911s are plenty accurate. They are used a lot in gun competitions primarily for their accuracy and silky smooth triggers. Basing the brand on the in game it is an STI Spartan V. STI is by no means a bottom basement builder. They use armscor made components and hand fit them in the USA. While not sniper rifle accurate, there is no reason a decent shooter cant shoo for effect at 50m+. Look up hickok45 on youtube and he is hitting a gong at 100 yards plus with all kinds of handguns including a 1911.

Item condition has less to do with it than the type of attachments. Basically find a magpul handguard and buttstock (NOT the CQB) and it becomes bearably accurate. Throw a bipod on it and it becomes like it should. I am still trying to figure out how a surplus mosin can outshoot an M4. M4 accuracy is horrible and no where near realistic values.

Do you want working helicopters and planes in DayZ?
Fuddinator replied to RedDogMT's topic in General Discussion
starting an airplane or helicopter, turbine or recip, is not very complicated. Most planes and helicopters will have a checklist to follow for starting. Where the interesting part comes in is actually flying it and not turning into an expensive lawn dart. -
The acog is an awesome and versatile optic......if only the m4 didnt have the accuracy of snot rocket. Set your zeroing to 100 and that lines up with your "main" crosshair. next line is 200, then 300, 400, 500 and top of thick black line is 600m. Use width of lines to zero based on targets shoulders. I can't confirm if fov changes affect the accuracy of the zeroing marks, mostly cause the m4 is so inaccurate in stock form.

Two worst things about alpha Dayz at the MOMENT
Fuddinator replied to blueleader's topic in General Discussion
While having fun in any game is important, it is worth keeping in mind 2 things: 1. Rocket himself said DO NOT BUY DayZ at this point. 2. This is an alpha and we are basically alpha testers. We didn't buy a game. We bought an opportunity to help develop a game. Basically the "fun" factor is not the most important part at this time. Far as your current arguments, they are both issues known by rocket and the devs. Part of getting the game mechanics right is having a night server. Personally I love night servers. Makes for some really good close quarters combat. I am sorry you can't agree.Server loot is something that will be addressed as they implement server and client side optimizations. I will deal with less loot and zombies knowing that my game is going to be stable and not crash. Anti-Server hopping mechanic is probably coming in next patch or 2 which will help with server hoping. You are going to be getting a lot of ITS ALPHA posts because that is what everything is tied to. Just be glad that the game is actually playable and doesn't crash. For an alpha, the core of game stability is spot on. Not a single crash. Hint hint, wink wink DICE. Give it time and have patience. If you actually read the forums and twitter, you would know that your problems are being worked on. If you are having this many issues, by all means uninstall and go play DayZ mod in whatever flavor your want. You can have all the military loot you could ever want or need and have a child's game compared to the SA. To sum up, quit bitching and go play the mod. I like the lack of loot compared to the mod. It means stuff actually means something. Go play the mod, and we'll see you in 3 months to hear you bitch more. -
My mosin can only chamber 1 bullet after painted green
Fuddinator replied to oksklok's topic in General Discussion
It is a bug. Simple. Paint shouldn't affect weapon operation at all. -
New Stuff never found before and never mentioned in patch notes
Fuddinator replied to Funkmasterflex's topic in General Discussion
No screens, got shot before I could remember too but the paint cans come in 2 colors, green and black. If you spray one coat black then one coat green, you get a camo pattern on your mosin. However, I recommend againt painting the mosin, as of right now painting it only allows 1 bullet to be loaded at a time. -
Got rolled to the latest version 0.31.114500 and no servers in my list?
Fuddinator replied to dejahboi's topic in Server Advertisement
Go to your filter and make sure everything is default except ping, change ping from 100 to 0 to show all the servers and then just sort by version number. Takes a few minutes for them all to appear. Good luck getting in. -

DayZ SA Pros & Cons list [+suggestions]
Fuddinator replied to whatisthis's topic in General Discussion
http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/159251-in-depth-video-guide-on-eating-drinking-and-blood-regeneration/#entry1598240 Didn't look very hard did you? It is a long video but does an excellent job of explaining the nuiances of the system. Blood bags are, simply put, obsolete in Standalone. Saline bags are like blood bags of old and completely refill health and blood (unconfirmed though). With the blood types, it adds an element of risk to using a blood bag. Either you bet on the odds and have a chance to live, or just die. Again do some research/ homework (amazing what you learn from school) and keep a reference chart on hand. Personally I ignore blood bag kits and throw them out. If my character is that bad off where i need a blood bag, ill just take the chance. I would probably die anyway. Not related, but of the same lines, when I was highly active in the mod as a squad sniper, I had a ranging chart on hand at all times. I could guess-timate range and my zero based on the height of a player, width of a door of a particular building, car height etc based on their size in mildots. I also used armex and made range charts on a small printed out map for my common over watch spots. For example, like from the western mound to north barracks at NWAF was like 450 m (not sure notes trashed long ago). My point is this, to truly succeed and shine in DayZ, it takes some effort. Again research goes a long way. -
DayZ SA Pros & Cons list [+suggestions]
Fuddinator replied to whatisthis's topic in General Discussion
While I can see why a lot of people would like your suggestions implemented, they just don't fit in with DayZ as a whole. This game is meant to be brutal and make you question why you even bother playing the game. I will hit your cons as constructively as I can. Keep in mind Dayz is going for a certain amount of realism/authenticity. Thirst/hunger- There is already tons of guides and videos on this subject. I think the system is perfectly fine as is. Just learn to understand it and it will be a non issue. It is just a game mechanic and you quite frankly have to get used to it. Hunger/thirst/blood/health icons, in the sense of the mod, will never come. The UI is supposed to be very minimal. The current compromise of looking in your inventory for your status is a perfect solution. It doesn't clutter the screen but the info is still accessible. Blood- Sticking with the realism aspect, no, blood types stay in. First of all, it isnt hard to do some homework and find compatible blood types. Keep a note of it close by. Second of all, you should be searching for saline bags. Saline gives more without the risk of whole blood. Blood bags should only be used in an emergency only. With the new regeneration system, the need for blood/saline bags is greatly reduced. They are for emergency medical treatment. Just fighting zombies, you don't need them. Squad identifiers- This is a big No no. Again this comes down to a realism aspect. Having these would simply break the whole reason DayZ is popular to begin with. This is not CoD or BF. If you are having problems within a squad with friendly fire, your squad need better communication and teamwork. Practice actually working as a team, like real life fire teams do. Have a standard set of call outs and phraseology. Form attack plans, defensive positons, and flanking manuevers ahead of time so everyone knows their role, what to do and where to go. And practice them. Also know the terrain. And practice. Use Armex in Arma 2. While the map is outdated, it isnt that different and still a great tool. Those are all things your squad needs to do to minimize friendly fire. It is gonna happen still. As a compromise to overhead markers, a feature that can be added is craftables your character wears to distinguish themselves from others survivors i.e. a blue armband or customizable squad patches. This I feel is something that fits in with the dayZ theme. Basebuilding- Confirmed feature coming to standalone in the not so near future. It will come just not for monthes to come. -
DayZ's Biggest problem at this moment (27/12/2013) (Excluding Bugs)
Fuddinator replied to FBI's topic in General Discussion
You'll never curb the KoS mentality in a game like DayZ. It is all based on risk/reward. While server hoppers and hackers are issues, things will come in due time. My biggest problem with the game in its current state is no incentive for people to leave the coast. As it stands, there are 3 guns. All 3 can be found on the coast and it is close to spawn, so no running required. That's why in the mod most of the action took base up north. Only places you could find much better than an enfield or AKM was in the barracks or crash sites. It gave people a reason to move off the coast and explore the map. Until that happens, most everyone is going to just hang around Balota. There is one good thing about this however, and that is the fire fights are much better. When you do find someone up north, it is usually a squad of guys that know the game and really makes the game fun. Less firefights, but so far much better quality. -
3d person cheating with screenshots
Fuddinator replied to SoWeMeetAgain's topic in General Discussion
DayZ is a game that isn't built on fairness. There will be un fair things in the game as they should be. It is just one step above a simulator in a lot of ways. Battle rifles are OP because they are IRL. Assaulting and securing a building is a very dangerous thing that professionals practice often. Swat teams and Special forces groups use grenades and flash bangs to better their odds. Thing I am sure are still coming. This particular "issue" is something that will be addressed in time as first person only servers get introduced. Me personally don't care for first person only because 3rd person overall gives a more realistic viewing angle and gives you a more "authentic" awareness of your surroundings than 1st person only. In the end, I don't find a major issue with it. You can abuse the same mechanic yourself and he still has to pop out to kill you. If you out smart, out play, and have more paitence than your opponent, you can neutralize and reverse any advantage he has. Basically, don't just run into a building like "Hurr Durr where da loot at Hurr Durr". Just for the record, while it is cheap, it is not cheating. It is a game mechanic that everyone can use. -
DayZ most needed addons/changes/fixes (COMMUNITY-MADE)
Fuddinator replied to CharlieAnd1/2's topic in General Discussion
1. Hunger and thirst system is fine once you figure it out. When you spawn in, you are basically on the brink of dehydration and starving. Keep eating much past the green text saying you are quenched. Basically eat and drink until you are full and you won't have many issues after that. 2. Disaggree. I like the direction of the UI as it is and it basically not being there and babying you the whole way. As it is now, looking at your inventory is a good compromise. The status messages are a little to vague at times though. 3. Yup. 4.Yup 5. They are coming, bugs more important. 6. and 7. I don't think that is how the loot system should be. Only these things can spawn in these building. Realistically, you can find anything anywhere but in certain places you have better chances of finding certain things. This is something I think will develope as more loot comes along. 8. All in due time. 9. There are some non enterable buildings we would all like to see and better loot spawns but in Time. 10. This isn't an ADD, so much as Bug/Fix, you need to be in first person to drink/fill water bottle at ponds. Water pumps it doesn't matter. -
Suggestion: Spread out the military grade spawns
Fuddinator replied to whatup2003's topic in General Discussion
Just FYI, I have been up north for welll around 10 hours and I have had only 1 human interaction this whole time. It just so happened to be a 3 man squad I ambushed and gunned down but thats not the point. My point is, everything is pretty well spread as it is. So far I see no point to trek all the way to NWAF unless you want to. With military bases in balota, South of pavlovo, between Kabanino and Vybor and even the NE airfield, I see little point to go there. Military loot is more spread out than ever. -
For number 3, you probably havnt been eating or drinking enough. You need to eat a can or 2 of food and drink until you get a message saying your stomach is full etc. Just because you get the green message you still need more. Once you are full, your health will improve and the screen should get more colorful. Also take some vitamins and try to walk more and jog/run less which should help you. Also as of note, use some alcohol if you have some to clean any wounds just for good measure.

Disinfectant is what you think it is. It is used to disinfect items in your inventory and reduces your chance of getting sick/infection. Far as being sick I think it is mostly real life. Keep fed and hydrated and take it easy, most things will pass. If you get a major infection is when things can get bad. Best bet is if you can, clean your wounds with alcohol (just to make sure), take some vitamins, load up with food and water and don't run. I was sick when I got to NWA and did the steps before and it cleared on its own. I just took my time and looted slowly while I did.

Consolidated Weapons/Equipment suggestions
Fuddinator replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
First off I want to say what most people say is military weapons, is actually fairly common in residential households, in America at least. They are not assault rifles as they lack burst or full auto modes. I like to call these military style rifles. They are mostly effective within ranges of about ~300 yards with a majority of them being ar15(in all varieties from full sized m16 size to m4 carbine style, carry handle w/ sights or flattop needing an added sight), or ak47 style rifles. So military style rifles are not un common in households. What is rare are assault rifles with full auto capability. That being said, I say make military style rifles more of an uncommon type but not rare and make full auto military weapons much rarer. With that said hear are my suggestions when it comes to weapons overall. The ones everyone hates, .50 cal weapons: m107, as50, and others should definitely be in the game. I think there should be more actually, and they should be rare. I don't care what anyone says, they do have a role and purpose. Whether it be players or vehicles. I say to counter act that is make the ammo even more rare to find. Also adding in the weight factor will also curve the fact everyone has it stuffed away in their backpacks. Assault rifles, these are just the base weapons, no scopes etc. The can be modified with scopes, foregrips etc to use preference. Also keep in mind their civilian counter parts w/o full auto steyr AUG M4(ar15) m16 ak-47M ak-74M AEK-971 AN-94 G36 SCAR(5.56) ACR Battle Rifles, FAL HK G3, HK91(semi auto G3), PTR-91(Latest Civilian version) m14, m14 scout (18 in barrel), m14 socom (16in barrel, less range easier to move) CETME rifle SCAR Heavy (Fires 7.62mm) AR10 (m16 style rifle firing 7.62mm) Military Sniper rifles. better accuracy than hunting rifles but require much more care m24(7.62) m40a3(7.62) L115 AWR(.338) SVD PSG-1 M21/m14 EBR and many more. Civilian/Hunting/WW2 type rifles: remingtion 700 M1 Garand Mosin Nagant M1 Carbine Mauser 98k SKS 1903 Springfield Enfield Ruger mini14/30 Bolt action .22 semi auto .22( ruger 10/22, highly moddable) AR7 Survival rifle This list could go on for ages but just as a general idea. Handguns, first off They should do more damager than they do now but a long shot. Surviving 7 .45acp rounds to the chest from a 1911 is a tall order. HK USP 1911 glock 17,18,19 etc etc. M9 magnum revolvers Walther P22 (other .22 handguns) PPK (Got to love up on James Bond) Makarovs Skorpion Desert Eagles (Just for the fun of it really) SIG 226 Also cheaper ones like high point SMGs/PDWs MP5 MP5 SD (Permanent built in supressor) mp7 tmp FN P90 Full Size UZI MAC-10 (w/ supressor) Thompson Grease gun UMP Bizon. Melee weapons, I think you should be able to use just about anything 2x4 4x4 leatherman/gerber multitool baseball bat crowbar hatchet-Full sized wood and firemans axe billy club Cheap replica medieval weapons like claymores, maces (Good in a pinch, just not durable) Machete Good quality swords that actually last. Chainsaw (Why not? Needs fuel) Weed Whacker (Needs fuel) Kitchen style knives (Paring knife anyone? How about a Cleaver?) Hunting knife military survival/fighting knife That is just my 2 cents worth. I skipped shotguns and crossbows and muzzle loaders as yes they are there but I believe those have been said quite a bit. I know that is a lot of weapons and a lot of them might considered too much or too powerful but when durability and cleaning come in, it will help. For example, sniper rifles will lose their accuracy over time and needs to be cleaned often due to the much tighter tolerances. Where as say a standard m14 isn't as accurate at range but can handle more dirt and grime. Cleaning kits should be a seperate item to carry as well. While I agree we need to see more civilian type weapons, nerfing military style weapons to non exisistence would be to much. They shouldn't be laying at every corner, but I think limiting the ammo supply for them to feed them will help keep them in check.
