Its not as much them actually 'eating' them more less just attacking* (OP) like they attack humans for instance. The animation where they are shoveling something into their mouths would work just fine if it were the case in this current mod. Just them actually recognizing the animals as a part of the game is what id like to see. If i could choose how they do this (if they do this) it would be that the animals have the capability to run away, or be frightened, from both humans and zombies in a more realistic manner. This would make the act of getting meat actually require some hunting (for instance, i dont know if any of you have ever tried to kill a wild boar before; theyre aggressive when you get too close, and are very hard to get close to because they will run) - now after saying that, i wouldnt want it to be that hard, but i would like a gunshot if missed or a person being too close to cause them to run away or attack even. One thing about animal animations from the current version of the mod is theyre too slow. if you do spook one, it runs slowly jogs away from you not near the speed they would really run from you at making it not even somewhat of a challenge to kill it; Thats only the boars or rabbits for that matter, cows slowly walk away when you shoot them. I really dont want it to be exact in comparison to real life but i would like to see this touched or improved on making it more of a challenge in the SA.

Do they look at us as food or as a threat is another question ive asked myself. Simply put, if they are attacking us I presume it is because we are living. Which would in turn make animals in the same category. Id be careful with this in combination with the new zombie system too though seems how they will be all over the map instead of spawning in near players. Maybe make animals only spawn in say 800m within player range and at a low amount. say maybe 3 or 4 animals spawning in by a percentage or focal point in wooded areas.this way they cant be used affectively to track someone, but also wont always be on the map to be eaten by zombies.

I dont think they would kill all large animals, im sure its possible to make them less visual compared to humans so they dont get attacked all the time.

I really feel this needs to have more light shed onto it. More opinions over the OP would be appreciated.

This reminds me of a sort of 'Farcry' feel to the animals. Id like that.

If animals had a smaller radius for being noticed that would help to avoid them always being attacked, and would still allow for them to become prey if they got too close. I know dogs are already something of interest so would it be that hard to make a chicken, goat, or cow do something similar in relation to interacting with the zombies?

Yeah haha I meant the other way around, got a good laugh out of that one though. I really think it is something that should be really thought about. *Mods can you reword my title? I meant Animals aggroing zombies.

You can lay down in small ponds completely unnoticable. Ive actually accomplished an ambush this way once on Namalsk. -
Check out Deadly Gamings server as well. Great group of guys. Its a Private hive with active admins, and you dont need to be whitelisted (yet).

It would be Halo'ish and CoD'ish if you can have a tracking system showing your character standing there wearing and holding the gear you currently have but it would be interesting. Also would tell you who to go after.

I had never heard of Arma before DayZ and was one of the people who bought Arma JUST to play DayZ. Honestly though I wouldnt like to do it any other way. Being completely new to the entire engine/game/experience was worth it. I didnt watch any videos, nor did i look up any guides. I bought it after spending 20 minutes at a friends house watching him play what looked like the hardest game id ever seen and at that point he hadnt even found a gun yet. Now I have over 200 hours on Arma OA and Ive fell in love with the Arma games in general, so I guess you could say i did it in reverse. Calling people idiots for not researching the game and playing Arma first like you did is just plain wrong and makes you seem arrogant, who cares how someone goes about playing the game if they respect and enjoy playing it. If anything Id say going into it blind with no clue what to expect was more enjoyable than sitting there watching other peoples videos to learn everything first. Wheres the fun in that???? -

You say you have a biased opinion based on real-life experience, yet only bring up your MW2 experience with the glock? Regardless ill have to disagree about the G17, I love the mag capacity, and as long as youre not spraying someone in the legs and hit them in the head, itl kill in one shot. Also, as for 1911 mags, i find those all the time as well. Either that or .45 ammo which can be converted. its the G17 & M9/M9 SD you have trouble finding mags for. Only place to really find them are barracks, where as the 1911 & .45 ammo can be found virtually everywhere. *If you want to compare the stats of the guns just check out www.Dayzdb.com -

I wouldnt head back down to the coast when I got geared, that just sounds like an aweful idea. It's this kind of mentality I don't like. People that think the only fun to have is at Cherno/Elektro geared or not. My best moments have always taken place inland, why go back to the coast? If I spawn in these cities ill do my best to get in and get out somewhat geared without ever looking back. -
