My story is still completely unexplained, and left me with a very unsettling feeling. This took place a few weeks ago. A few buddies of mine and i were just sort of doing our rounds in the areas around Staroye, just sort of passing time. Three of my friends were in Ghillie suits, one was in camo clothing, and i was in regular survivor gear. we had stopped for a second in the trees so that i could toss my ghillie on as well. This is when things started to not make sense. Considering that it is still an alpha, when things happen i dont jump to yelling hacker or anything. things happen. welp, when i clicked 'wear ghillie suit' nothing happened. i figured it was just the server lagging or something. three times later i still havent put on the ghillie suit and im starting to get frustrated. Then suddenly, the ghillie suit goes on, and instead of having 1 civilian suit in my gear, i had 3. strange i thought. Just then my buddy yells in teamspeak "woah! there are two of you now!" as he is saying that i look to my left to see a ghillie guy standing perfectly still holding the same M16 ACOG that i have. I automatically assumed that i somehow just duped my character and got extra of everything. while i am looking through the clone characters bag verifying that it indeed was my character, it turned and looked at me! Before we could decide what to do, this cloned version of myself unloads a mag and kills 3 of my friends. my other friend and i shot it down, but it didnt say that we killed anyone. the clone died, yet it didnt say anyone died besides the 3 that 'he' killed. I dont know how the hell it happened, but it definitely freaked the shit out of us. How can a cloned character suddenly become animated? not to mention die without displaying a name? from then on anytime i am putting on alternate clothing i get ancy waiting for my evil clone to strike again.

And of course there is a slight risk involved, also you're right about the fact that they might try to set me up. Did it ever occur to you though when you made this post that I too would have people with me? that we would set the meet up in an area easily watched by my people to ensure that if there were any funny business we could handle it? Your post is full of assumptions and you are in the wrong section.

Im not sure if this counts as a "great find" really, but the second time I ever played DayZ i got a real treat. Granted I wouldnt act the same now knowing what I know, but then it was a different story. I had just died and spawned in at Kamenka. right up the beach about 150 yards i see a Bandit shooting the Golden AK into the ocean, turn around, drop a cardboard box of some kind, and disappear. i check for his name and he left the server. Once i walked up to this box and looked inside I shit my overalls then proceeded to have a blast.

Also, if you would like to look at it in another light, consider me in the story I had mentioned above. I was a fresh spawn. now being that there were weapons extremely close to where i spawned, can one not already consider me a threat? If someone were to have killed me before i grabbed that M1014, 3 people would have lived a little longer. Is it too cynical to consider a newspawn a potential threat for the fact that it isnt hard to find a weapon, especially if that newspawn was in a major city? if someone would have killed me, i would have more than likely respawned farther away than i had before, deeming their area safer for the time being. *NOTE: I am not one to kill fresh spawns, I just want to have an actual discussion over different possibilities*

the argument I made has no regard to unarmed players whatsoever. It is in regard to calling that man a coward for killing armed and unarmed players who arent a threat. how can someone who is armed not pose a threat?

Going to the airfield doesnt technically mean walking around on the runway or anything like that. just going to the area of the NWAF, even if youre 600m out and watching the south, youve got a good chance of spotting someone making a move.

most epic battle ive had with just myself and another player took place on Namalsk. I was completely geared out with an AS-50 and warm clothes just walking about on a mountain. The server only had about 5 other players so running into someone in the remote location i was in didnt cross my mind. As im walking about i hear something moving behind me, and as i turn someone begins to spray an AK-74 at me. Luckily there was a tree between us because all of them missed except for one, which only took a tad bit of blood. Seeing how this scared the living shit out of me, i turned and hip fired my AS-50 NATO rounds at him which somehow all missed. Now both of us are dancing around this tree, him reloading and me switching to my G17. we both finish at the same exact time and he begins to spray at me again, and i start taking the shots at him without getting hit. I then hear a "crack" from his legs breaking thank god so i go to circle around the tree at him. well he was expecting this sadly and finished his mag of 4 or 5 bullets into my legs breaking them. Now we are both laying next to each other, bleeding out, and reloading for the 3rd time. ( i still feel like a nub for this). we both reload again at the same time and start rolling around popping shots when we can. I finally hit him in the head and killed him, bandaged myself, gave myself some morphine, and ate a few steaks to get back out of blinking on the blood meter. I can say that this was the most intense fight i had ever been in, and probably the worst aiming ive ever displayed lol.

Ok. Let me see if i can help out at all. You shouldnt "Try to be a hero" or "Try to be a bandit" IMO. I dont really clarify either, it all just depends on what happens that day. It should come from having to make decisions given to you. If youre trying to "hunt" players you will need a shit load of patience. Great place to start obviously is the northwest airfield. Me personally, I have a large area shaped like a triangle that I patrol and watch. get an area up by stary and Novy on the way to NWAF and watch that. vehicles will pass through eventually. Best ways to stay hidden. Dont go into towns if you dont have to. Stick to the treeline outside towns and away from roads. Always scout for "white dots" on the edge of your screen, and Zeds over 250m away from you. Those white dots could mean the difference between life or death for you if youre in the woods. They are usually wildlife, but not always. When it comes to actually engaging on someone, scout first and know how many youre up against. wait for a shot you know you can make depending on your skill level, and dont rush it. If they get away there will always be others, it isnt worth having to start over. Those are my 2 cents and personal advice from my own play style, hope this helps some.

You are wrong, and this is why. Scenario 1 (happened yesterday) = 2 Heroes and a survivor in the supermarket in Elektro. I just spawned about 10 minutes ago on the outskirts of town. I find a M1014 in the western firehouse and head for the market. As I am approaching the outside wall i hear direct chat conversation. These two guys were helping the survivor get some gear. What did i do? these guys were claiming to be "saviors" "heroes" and what not. So of course I circle the side with the windows, peak the corner, and put slug rounds into all 3 of their heads. These guys were friendly, armed to the teeth, and not a threat to me. Was it a coward thing to do for killing all of them? NO. A coward would have been too afraid to even try and kill them all. Instead I killed them and got everything i needed and more from their bodies. perfect to start heading north with. Mind you, this took place in the course of 15 minutes. Now does it sound like i just killed them because "I suck at the game and it's the only way for me to feel good about myself?" Does this fall in the lines of you saying there is no excuse for killing a player who isnt a threat? You have no idea how to play this game obviously. Your argument sounds like someone who gets killed to often for standing there screaming "Friendly" in your mic.

Personally, i gear up the best by going into those two main cities. My advice to you is just dont suck at the game and youll do fine. the cities are highly populated, meaning there is a lot of people to kill. If you dont have a weapon then find one! i took out around 8 people in an hour in Elektro (all of them were armed), and then went north with a good gear set for the trip. I do this often, and those snipers on the hills? dont let them have a shot on you, they will eventually get frustrated and either come in after you, or draw attention to themselves for taking shots they cant make.

sometimes i get the feeling that there is a small amount of karma in this game. anytime i let someone go when i had them dead, i either stay alive longer or find better loot. play however you want to play, personally though i find it more fun to let people live when they arent a threat.

It all depends man. you will never know what would have happened if you would have let him live. for all you know, he could have done the exact same thing to you as soon as you go check some loot. ive been there before and felt pretty bad after killing a guy i was helping, but thats the game. he will find friends some other time, no big deal.

How do you suppose "bandaging" someone after they lose a leg? this would take away more than it would add.
