How relevant is population in a game that's in early access? People will play the game when it's funner to play, that's all. When a killer patch is released, the word will spread. Gamers won't shun a good game because "it took too long to get there."

Tag & Release – Solo – Hardcore – Capturing a heavily geared M4 player.

I approve of your handling of the situation. Really, when you make that initial contact, it's always well done. You're stern and you make it very clear you won't stand for any stalling. -

Do you guys accept everyone who fills out the application correctly? I've applied, and look forward to playing on the servers! -

That's some really nice work, looks like it'd fit right in with the others!

F**k the UN comin' straight from the underground--

That awkward moment when you realize you're not alone behind the low wall! :P

I love watching UN die.

Great! I've been looking forward to this video.

I've a horrible feeling it's been removed. I hope not. I couldn't find it myself when I played earlier today.

How to stay alive in the middle of Berezino experiment
Very Ape replied to StayAlive (DayZ)'s topic in Gallery
1PP servers are better for that reason. It's a more grounded experience, and I suppose that attracts more players looking to survive. That, or you're so much more likely to run headfirst into someone without preparation, that pulling the trigger right away just isn't that viable an option. -
Awesome video man! That was really fun to watch. Beans for first-person view.

Tag & Release - Disarming a sniper and trying to negotiate his release
Very Ape replied to sobieski12's topic in Gallery
You really just made my day. I once wandered onto the NWAF and found a kid, no more than fourteen, who'd been handcuffed and beaten senseless by these guys. Any foe of the UN is a friend of mine. Or lover. Think on it. -
You are a god.

That's a really cool place to make a base, where is it? And how do I get in on this? I want to be a part of something.
-
At least he had the decency to warn you. :P It's in times like these that I wish had a sound-insulated play room for DayZ, and wish that I never forgot to close my windows when playing. Because otherwise it seems I'm making elaborate plans over the phone to to "kill that fucker, he stole my car" or begging for my life in a frightened, high-pitched squeal.

So, what's new?
-
Would really like to find a helicopter crash, could do with one of those ghost masks.

They got me too. But not before my boys got some of 'em. Months ago, they beat up one of my friends. Cuffed him and beat him nearly to death, for no good reason.

What this guide is missing is a section on player interaction. The magic that happens when you start using the in-game chat to make solid allies, deter potential bandits and even convince unwitting survivors to lower their guard long enough for you to make an escape or kill them for their loot. I'm a terrible marksman. I'm only able to overcome bandits if they give me enough time to speak-- I've managed to enter buildings my own group had besieged in order to kill them from the inside, just as I've gotten bandits to back off from a building I'd been holed up in. I've faced ridiculous odds and survived, all without directly fighting my aggressors. When on my own, I can find a group and become a parasite. If you're planning on holding a survivor at gunpoint (to neutralize him as a threat, to make friends or as a bluff because you're unarmed but out of sight), try to be menacing without being a bully. It's somewhat contradictory, but what I mean is that you need to let the other player know by your intonation that you're absolutely confident in your ability to follow through with an implied threat, without actually threatening to kill them. I've had a lot of success saying ''Keep your gun on your back. I am easily startled,'' after which point you'd walk the other survivor through the interaction. If you're interacting with another player directly, you want to keep your gun trained on him while his remains on his back or on the ground. Simply telling him why you're doing this goes a long way: ''Don't be alarmed, I'm <going to handcuff you/going to keep my weapon pointed at you> as a precaution.'' If you're creative, and don't resort to just yelling ''Friendly,'' you can easily gain another player's trust, even if he wasn't planning on being friendly from the get-go. Also, you'll often get bogged down by survivors who will attempt to stall you. Call them out on it: ''Stop stalling. Comply.'' It sounds bad, and a lot of it is-- I've led a lot of survivors to their demise for my own benefit, but you can do the opposite just as well. It's a good way to stop the bloodshed and come out on top. Most people will immediately pull their weapons out when they hear VOIP because they're convinced you're just going to make them drink disinfectant and then execute them. The very same people will listen to you if you know what to say.

Fridges as containers have been showcased awhile ago, which is really good news. Looting is better than in the mod, but it's still just giving a room a cursory glance.
