  1. I think, also, that it would help put the emphasis on this being a survival game and make it more immersive.
  2. Many encounters are spontaneous. You turn a street corner and a man's standing there with a gun leveled at your head. Both parties proceed to awkwardly circle each-other yelling "FRIENDLY!" and hoping the other isn't actually just trying to aim the gun at the other's head. Or, you fire immediately because you just don't want to take the chance. In most cases, if you simply instantly lower your gun (a reflex that is pretty much nonexistent in people who play this game) you'll get shot. These weird dances are bizarre and don't exactly mirror how such interactions would actually take place-- ie, everyone would start with their guns lowered, because having your gun constantly raised is just something people don't do. This feature would also add a lot of gravity to pointing a gun at someone. You know it's because he's purposefully aiming at you, and not just looking at you. It'd also add incentive to not shoot on sight, and give friendly players a chance to actually be friendly. I don't think it'd be a stretch to say that the fact that you have your gun raised by default gives an edge to bandits. But let's not forget them; give creative bandits a funner way of acquiring gear (What's cooler than taking hostages?!)
  3. I would be completely satisfied with nighttime if 'gamma-hacking' were no longer possible.
  4. The new environments look stunning, I really look forward to trekking across Chernarus again.

    [SA] No snipers, no choppers.

These others you speak of are probably rushing into close-quarters combat, in which case, yes, the M107 is at a slight disadvantage (not when crosshairs are enabled, though!) In the hands of a half-decent player, as a long-range (hell, even mid-range) weapon, it's brutally overpowered. And I don't mean in terms of stopping power, but at how ridiculously easy it is to handle and how little penalties to mobility and stamina it brings. You should be putting that shit in the back of your pickup truck, to use within proximity of it, not carrying it around in your backpack or in your arms as you run around for more than ten seconds.

    [SA] No snipers, no choppers.

Keep them in, but make them authentic, and rare enough. People should think: "Damn, I can't use this M107, I'm alone and I won't be able to run far and quick." and opt for smaller guns. There's just no incentive to use any other weapons, because 'how destructive the weapon is' is all that comes into play.

What is your favorite troll on DayZ

"Do you have morphine?" "No, but I've got something else. Don't worry; they use it on horses all the time." *reloads double-barreled shotgun* "NO-- WAIT!"

    Places to get better gear?

I would recommend finding a player with the items you desire, and prying them from his cold, dead hands.

    Just saw Rocket again.

Turns out Rocket was involved with my other favorite game of all time. Can someone please add Matt's face onto the mask?

    Anyone else agree?

I get frustrated and annoyed at updates that don't feature a lot of cool, new screenshots. It's too bad I'm not actually entitled to any of these. Complaining would at least help to make me feel better. :(

    The Justiciars

The zombie disaster which plagues Chernarus has caused the collapse of human civilization. To ensure innocent survivors are safe from the dangers posed by bandits and other such criminals, we have formed the Justiciars. Criminal and other militia groups that terrorize Chernarus will be put down like the dogs they are; we'll see to it personally. Our ultimate goal is restoring law and order to Chernarus, by whatever means necessary. We're a small but effective group that identify and kill bandits in a variety of ways. We actively seek out conflict with bandits, as an aggressive of policing Chernarus. We're not to be confused with heroes, medics or taxi drivers-- however, we tend to befriend such groups. We'll often help those in need, but we won't compromise our safety in doing so. We will fight bandits, mercenaries, and other armed factions that prey on survivors. Order will be restored. We play on BMRF #2, a first-person-view-only server. If you're interested in joining, or would like our Teamspeak information, send a private message to Very Ape. Familiarity with the DayZ game mechanics is required, and we only accept people aged 17+. We don't require a specific playing schedule or quota. We're an international clan, but you must be able to communicate efficiently in English. We're mostly North-American, but we've got a few European members. And if you'll be a Justiciar, you'll only kill bandits or in self-defense. Potential members will be embedded with the Justiciars, until such time that they're accepted or rejected.
  13. Changelog | Get Whitelisted | Forums DayZ Redux aims to fix most of the bugs and exploits present in the game, as well as introducing and changing certain features to appeal to the DayZ purist-- those who wish to play in the spirit of ''post apocalyptic survival''. You'll never see changes along the lines of ''golden vehicles!'', ''tanks!'' and other bullshit. The aim is to make the game difficult and frustrating, but for all the right reasons. Chernarus Redux is unforgiving; intense, long-drawn firefights and ruthless death by bandit await you at every turn. Are you ready to die? There are almost a hundred fixes and added features in DayZ Redux. Here are a few of the most popular ones: Combat loggers (ALT+F4) are instantly killed and leave a corpse behind. Rare Chloroform spawns have been added. You can use it just like a blood bag, and it will knock your victim unconscious for 3.5 minutes. Vehicle inspection has been added, which pops up an interface with any and all damaged parts when you select "inspect" on your vehicle. Any vehicle can be flipped. Despite it being unrealistic, the feature was implemented as a solution to DayZ buggy vehicle moments. Zombies can hear fired weapons 15% further. Crates can be built, using nails and wood. Smaller and more easily-concealed than tents, but with reduced storage space. Tents and crates can be set on fire using a box of matches. This destroys their content and deletes them from the database. New environments, that make exploring certain otherwise boring areas worthwhile. Hardcore spawns. No backpacks, no mercy. Helicopter crashes spawn at random times during the "life" of a server. New crash sites. Over five different kinds to explore, with varying degrees of fire and smoke. Have fun finding them. All snipers removed except for the CZ550 and the M24. Both are rare, and ammo only spawns with the weapon. Higher zombie density. Horde, anyone? New vehicles, including the HMMWV and Vodnik. Enforced play area. No more off-map camping Personal transfusion kits can be created inside of a hospital, using a regular blood bag. 30% chance of draining blood and losing consciousness. The server is whitelist-only, based on GUID. To gain access, simply visit our website and register to the forums. Then, follow the instructions in the "Get Whitelisted" section. While this may be a bit of work, this is meant to provide a hack-free environment. To play, you must download a custom file. The download and instructions can be found here.

choose what type of person you spawn as.

My murderous bandit clan would pledge allegiance to ye. We'd get our cars and go plundering the coast, leaving dozens dead in our wake, in order to procure yer apple sauce, 'o bandit mother.

More dense forests and their impact on gameplay

That isn't a solution. People would just not do that to take advantage of a clearer line of sight into the woods.
  16. When trading items in an apocalypse, I wouldn't have a stranger rummaging through my bag, to see everything I have, potentially taking something I wouldn't even notice gone. I wouldn't awkwardly shuffle forward, drop it on the ground in front of him and shuffle back again, with him doing the same. We'd just hand the items to each-other.
  17. Please... Just... pictures, anything-- we're not picky! We... we n-need something... Please... *scratches arm uncontrollably*

Take out all the snipers except for 1

Sniper-rifles are fun. It's fun knowing that you could be sniped at any moment, but it's ridiculous when you just know that everyone has a sniper-rifle. Part of the fun is expecting it-- but not expecting it too. Anti-material rifles are overkill.

    Earning Persistent Gear in SA

What's the point? Yeah, that's a big question. The answer isn't stats or even gear. Stats break immersion, and gear should only be tools for survival. So, that narrows it down. The point is surviving. As it is now in the mod, the point is amassing gear. Surviving is a nifty way of doing this, but it's not quite the point. It needs to be, though. How do we make survival a priority? Of course, the prospect of losing gear is an incentive to stay alive, but people become more attached to their gear, not their characters. If players start giving a shit about that little avatar running incessantly from point A to point B, looting and killing, instead of the gun in his hands, it could change the game. Dynamic character growth is the way to go. Start out frail and sickly. Maintain a good diet for a day or two? You'll slowly get faster, stronger, with more stamina and your aim less shaky. No way of 'grinding' to get to that point; you actually just need to survive. Furthermore, you could develop physical traits that reflect your character's progression. Got shot? Clawed? Knifed? You'll have the scars to prove it. Hell, let us get tattoos. Beards. BEARDS. BEARDS ARE THE ANSWER.

    DayZ Standalone, Freelook, Third Person

Most likely because third person view is easily exploited to peak around and over cover.

Robin Hood, Little John, and Pirates

Oh my god that was fucking hilarious. :D That smiley improperly describes how funny that was.
  22. I just hope that meat will spoil over time, so players don't stockpile meat. It should progress to different 'states', depending on how you store it, each with its own chance of making you ill.
  23. I imagine people will be daunted by the realistic weapon damage, given that everyone seems to be toting military hardware. But, rest assured, guns will be rare in standalone (I think.) I want to be overjoyed at finding a pistol.

SA shoot guns out of hands

Why not add a scroll option "Disarm", to be used on unconscious players. Without dropping your gun, the other player's weapon is automatically deposited next to his body. He'd have to pick it up again before shooting. Much quicker than fumbling with your inventory to get his gun off of him.

    An idea for Razors

Neo-nazi factions running around would be interesting, albeit somewhat disturbing given that they wouldn't be NPC-controlled.
