Quick status update for week 8 November
Very Ape replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
You know when you're a kid and you spout unrealistic video game ideas, as your more tech-savvy friends shake their heads in mocking disapproval? Well, they can go f*** themselves. Very Ape of 2003 was right, all thanks to Rocket. -
Hicks post on 6/11/13 conveys a sense of finality that couldn't have gone unnoticed by him. Release must be imminent, otherwise-- and I'd never thought I'd say this, some clarification is needed. God damn, this game looks amazing.

Clearly, he's been having sex with toilet seats.

The entitlement of many DayZ fans is ridiculous. Art is not a democracy. inb4 "This is not art this is a product destined for my consumption!"

I'm leaving tomorrow morning until Tuesday. Wonder what I'll be thinking about. ^_^

You say you think he's a murderer, but give no evidence. What is wrong with you? I criticized your post without actually reading or understanding it.
-
If someone is prone, then yes, the game should treat you to a cool throat-slitting animation. Otherwise, I want prolonged, bloody knife-fights.
-
That's a clever idea, but I think having different blood-types would make the game more interesting. I don't think blood transfusions will be your standard health pack anymore, so they should be daunting for the unexperienced medic.

Definitely My best ever video (W/Cinematics) - Dayz Epoch - Feedback?
Very Ape replied to Quincy (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
Calling names doesn't constitute good, or welcome, feedback. You should have expected a hostile response with such a hostile comment. I enjoyed the video, keep 'em coming and work at it! :P -
No, but only because I'd rather see a wounded zombie crawl after me maniacally.

I don't get where all these broken promises and lies come from. Aside from the December release date that was missed (and fans of the game should be pleased that happened). -
Title's pretty self-explanatory. You've shot another survivor, and as you approach his still body you realize he hasn't yet reached the clearing at the end of the path. What tends to happen; 1) You hand him a ticket back to the coast. 2) You communicate, with near-perfect clarity, to this unconscious person that when he wakes up he isn't to swivel around and shoot you, lest you kill him first. 3) You bandage him and leave. 4) You hope that when he wakes up you'll get to hear him beg for his life as you ask him to send you a postcard from lovely Kamenka, as you dramatically pull out your pistol-- No, you awkardly side-step around him as he's swivelling around, prone, and try to put that one bullet in his head. Maybe next time. As cruel as it sounds, it'd be fun, in the aftermath of a firefight, to approach the incapacitated but still-conscious survivor you've wounded. Perhaps he's flat on his back, clutching his gut and writhing in pain. Whatever. You slowly walk to him as he begs for his life. I am not suggesting a way for this to be implemented. Think outside the box before commenting; there's hundreds of ways this can be implemented (how it looks, differing levels of 'wounded-but-still-talkative'), and one of them is undoubtedly the "right" way.

I think you meant sentences. His post was one, long run-on sentence that you understood perfectly, yet you felt the need to sarcastically point it out. I won't venture as to why. -
Hence "with perfect clarity." As for implementation, call me crazy but I don't think it'd be that difficult, unless you were to include movement (ie, dragging yourself around, which already sort of exists.) What I imagined was that you would fall over and stay down until you've bled out, been given immediate medical attention or earned your ticket.

Brilliant idea. It'd be cool if those ambient noises were also triggered by wildlife, and sometimes just at random so that it doesn't seem too artificial.

By no means is item damage 'forcing' different types of player interaction. If properly implemented, which it seems to be, the game will better imitate life and become so much more interesting and fun. In reality, if you found yourself in a barren wasteland with an automatic weapon, intent on taking a backpacker's precious items by force, would you fire indiscriminately and risk damaging what meager, but potentially valuable, possessions he has? I'm not arguing that a robber wouldn't shoot him on sight, but perhaps he'd consider another approach (even if that approach is trying for a headshot), if available to him. It also presents the opportunity for frustrating mistakes that aren't necessary lethal! What better than the frustration of bandits realizing they destroyed the very thing they needed when they killed someone. Them cursing each-other out, blame assigned left and right, until finally they turn on each-other like the feral dogs they are? -
No. It makes you a hero.
-
I've often killed bandits, only to have their alt characters kill me minutes later. No. Fucking no.

Carrying containers is going to be very useful and cool. -
You should give DayZero a try!

[Suggestion] Optional anti-theft system
Very Ape replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I've just been murdered by cruel, vicious bandits for sport. They pillaged my corpse, my car, but fortunately didn't steal it because they're nice like that. -

Is it just me or does nobody really play "Vanilla" DayZ anymore?
Very Ape replied to indalcecio's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
DayZero is where it's at.
