To be blunt, the best places from my experience to meet friendly survivors is actually the least place you would expect them to be. For instance, 2 nights ago, I ran into a friendly in Berizeno, TWO actually and they both had every opportunity to shoot me in the back of the head. It's crazy how that is too. => Also, I've learned MAJORITY OF THE TIMES, if the person is ALONE, he/she will probably be friendly if you DON'T point at them and raise communication over direct coms.

Before the first restart? No, since I gave it to the other player. The second time though, I don't remember saving. I'm assuming someone though found it before another restart occurred.

So I guess continuing on my somehow gotten luck, I found a tractor somewhere north on US 10 Chicago. I promptly went up to it to see if there was any damage. To my surprise, all wheels were in place. It was low on fuel though and the engine plus the hull were red. Welp... since I found it, I decided to give it go, even though it was low. Going south now, I had an idea in my head. Since the update, why not go through the usual hot spots and honk the tractor to attract any zombies away from players. Maybe, I thought, I might make their lives a little bit easier. I'm going south, stop by a dam north of Elektro to luckily find a jerry can to fill the low fuel, and continue on my way. I then spent maybe the next hour and half just going from Elektro back to Cherno and then back to Elektro over and over. I even went to Balota on the airfield and back. Why was I doing this? No reason... I simply wanted to have fun and maybe make some memories for players. So after awhile being surprised I'm not yet dead by other players, I decide to park the tractor by the beach west of Elektro. I was then greeted by two random people without weapons that wanted the tractor, but they were being chased by zombies. Taking my gun out, I help the poor folks out and kill all of them for their troubles. I had a little chat with them and told them one of them can take the tractor for a spin. Greatest feeling ever. If that wasn't enough, the server unfortunately had to restart and the tractor for some reason spawned by a barn a little north of where I was, still by Elektro. Weird... but I get in it and park it once again on the same beach west of Elektro, this time with no one running to me. I hope someone found it, I mean would certainly hope so. It's by the spawn points! To whoever found the tractor on the beach on US 10 Chicago, you're welcome. I also gave them 3 spare tires, 2 fuel tank parts, and the filled jerry can. Yep... I'm crazy. This happened I by the way 10 hours ago, just so you don't get your hopes up thinking a tractor is there now.

I could change 1911 to ACP rounds without a problem. I don't know if that's true for the reverse though as I have no tried that yet.

How do I communicate with other players now?
Charu replied to skillfultree (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Switch to the Direct Chat and there you go. Note you'll need to be close to someone so they can see the text, or hear you. It's much preferred by the way if you have some type of microphone. -
YOU'RE A BIG CRAP!

Then I hope I don't have the displeasure of meeting you when I spawn.

I don't know if you experienced this now, but I had the unfortunate dismay of dying and had to do a new character with these new rules in place. Let me tell you, not once did I get shot by some random dude, even when I met some dudes too, WITH GUNS! Guess what they did when they saw me with nothing but a flashlight? They went away since they know you don't have anything. You might just be getting unlucky with people who are just absolute jerks and still kill you even though they clearly know you have nothing of value.

This update made me smile. It's harder, but for good reason. Now it might actually not be a good idea to do a dark deed to a fellow survivor. That, and bandits are no longer the main threat. Zombies are again! -
20 words or less: Spawning without a weapon
Charu replied to rocket's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
YES Forces survivors and bandits not to be trigger happy, plus gives other bandits who are geared no reason to shoot. -
Alright, before the update rolled out and about, I was in the middle of fixing up this SUV near Sol at the gas station. So I'm fixing it, patch rolls out, and then finish up fixing it and went on an hour spree of driving along the coast. During my cruise, I stumbled upon a person with a flashlight (This was also during night). I stop and honk at him, greeting him even to come aboard this SUV. He does so and then I suggest we go to Berizeno to give him a weapon of some kind since he didn't start off with any (via the newest patch). We arrive there, and then I met not one, BUT TWO random people there who were also both friendly. I was having either a huge stroke of luck or I somehow went to DayZ heaven. Well anyways, my newfound car buddy got himself a Kobra, and then we chit-chat a little among ourselves. One person says he's just going to part ways while the other joins along to ride along the coast. So now back on the road, I suggest to see how Elecktro is doing since this new update gives everyone no weapons. On my way there however, I somehow crash into... a very small object and zombies are spawning in and chasing. Then... comes the best firefight ever, for me anyways. I take my M16 and start to pour led to every zombie that dared come across my path. Unfortunately, the person that joined my ride at Berizeno didn't make it. But... I guess he disconnected soon after because his body disappeared too. Man... So back once again on the road, the SERVER WAS ABOUT TO RESTART. Shoot, alright, so I turn around to see if there were any trees, or just some way I can go inland. But there was no time, so as I approach these trees by the shore which I'm pretty sure no one would spawn by, the session was lost... And I didn't save the vehicle. I go back in the server, spawns me near Elecktro for some reason, run all the way back to where I know I parked the car, and it wasn't there. Sad night... lost a guy, and another guy, and the car. Oh well, it was fun while it last- BUT WAIT, as I'm going north again along the coastal road to see if it simply spawned back at the original spot. I anger a zombie and makes me bleed. Alright, I shoot him and bandage up. But then another zombie comes and makes me bleed again. Well... to my horrible dismay... I had no more bandages. So now I'm just killing zombies hoping ONE OF THEM would drop a bandage. Luck was not on my side though, I guess I used it up repairing that SUV. So I go to a pier, look out to the ocean, then die... along with my M9SD, M16A2 M102, all the items I could possibly use to survive. And my dear NVG's... Moral of the story. Zombies can sometimes be worse than bandits! =C

Thanks to the update with no one starting off with a weapon, Cherno suddenly got a whole lot better. That's just me though as I was strolling through it on US 10 Chicago both during the night and a little bit at dawn. Thanks devs!

lolwut? Seriously, WHAT!? How... how does that happen, in the worst place possible to drive something that slow?

This is just proof that sometimes, direct communication can make someone hesitant to shoot. I'm no bandit, but hey I should share a story too of my ultimate demise of this one guy that had very good charisma. So there I was in Cherno, was a new character so it was one of those "you didn't care" what happened moments and whatnot. I'm just going to the usual spots, looting anything and everything I can, until I came to the firehouse. Granted, I knew this was a hot spot, so I did a full sweep of the area before I began my ascent to see if there was anything good. As I went up, to my unfortunate dismay, there was no loot to be had. That was until I heard someone below me. Me just starting out with a Makarov, me being the friendly person raised up my direct coms and hailed the person below me. The person responded back saying he meant no harm at all. Alright, cool, or so I thought anyways. So he comes up the stairs, we stare at each other, give each other the salute, and I promptly tell him that nothing was in the firehouse. He then pauses for the moment and goes on to say we should go to the apartments. I agreed since I was going to head there myself after this firehouse detour. So we cross the streets of Cherno, until he suddenly goes full sprint and angers all the zombies in the immediate area. Me being naive thought he must've double tapped the run key on accident. So no biggy, I follow him to the apartments as we anger more zombies. Now we're in the apartment that's by the north hospital, and we take shelter there. So I'm distracted with the zombies and shoot at. Until... this guy's dark side comes to fruitition. As I'm shooting at the zombies, he promptly turns around and unloads a clip to my head. I go down dead, and that's... that. I wasn't even angry either, was sort of surprised and then laughed. To whoever that person was, I do not know. It was on a Hardcore/Veteran server with no 3rd or crosshairs. I do know to whoever it was. Well played, you talked in Direct coms convincing me you weren't going to do what you did. THAT... is true banditry. Even though I'm a victim, I loved how he pulled it off sounding so convincing in direct coms.

To the 3 guys in the church I killed...

Everyone knows that killing survivors in the coastal towns is so three weeks ago.
