it's been said more than a million times before, dayz runs off its own engine. the devs reworked the entire engine so it's no longer a mod. hence 'standalone game'. almost like ARMA 2.5. and they have optimised it to an extent, but they have a long way to go. -

yeah i've been up north. tell you why no one's there? everyone wants to deathmatch at the coast. also there's really no point going up north because you can get all the best gear at the coast. i've said it many times before, but putting the biggest cities at the coast in this game was a massive mistake. there would be so much more adventure in the journey to the big city if there was a massive city in the middle of the map. unfortunately until they release modding tools for maps then that won't happen -

true human interaction? unpredictable nature? how is having 99% of the community KoS all the time unpredictable? how is that human interaction? KoS reduces the 'interaction' to effectively nothing. at the moment dayZ is no different to CoD or Battlefield. it's just a slow free for all match. that's not the dev's fault, but they are the only people with the power to stop this crap. i haven't played it in a week since it came out because i play dayZ for a DIFFERENT experience to a tdm game. at the moment, it does not offer that. players want to just make it CoD again, just like the mod. -
i really hope they add it, it would make the map so much bigger :D

with even half the zombies of l4d and the amount of fun they are to shoot then dayZ would be game of the century

yeah but you get much more interesting situations when you don't deathmatch. you might meet someone who's horribly ill and try to help them. you might make a temporary half hour friend, you might end up killing them because you find out they're an asshole. i fail to see how being friendly has no point.

after 25 hours of game time, i'm yet to meet a single friendly player that didn't either shoot me on sight or kill me as soon as he had a weapon. it's very difficult staying friendly nowadays, everyone wants to deathmatch

dis is tru. seriously though i am yet to meet anyone in dayZ that has either not tried to kill me right away or has pretended to be friendly and at the first opportunity has killed me. i honestly think it's even worse in the SA than it was in the mod lol. after 25 hours and plenty of people met, not one of them has been friendly. that's a depressing look at the game's future

he's not really being that shitty, the other guys had already exploited the system by having a friend log in fully kitted out. he was just getting away fairly from them. -
phew, for a second there i thought this was the standalone game, thank god it's just the mod and the SA hasn't been butchered like this yet (no personal offence meant OP)

if you optimise the hell out of it then you might get 20fps, if you're planning on getting a new pc anyway just buy it and see how it goes and if it does run like shit then just get it on your new pc. THAT'S THE BEAUTY OF STEAM MY FRIEND! -
they already had this in the mod, there were very few PvE servers and people just came to ruin them by joining and killing as many people as possible before being banned. i don't think it would work really.

i heard that it's a bug and the ammo is spawning but the gun itself is not, and that rocket adressed it and it will be in the next update. this is just what i've heard so don't take it has hard fact.
