I dont think anyone gets OPs point...the point is that there should be some kind of punishment for careless behaviour like he described. The careless behaviour is completly opposite of what u would have seen in the real world. And it creates a silly form of gameplay when bambies have nothing to loose. 30 min cooldown would be a step in the right direction...if u ask me I would suggest a 15 min cooldown upon death for players that have started a new char, after 1 hour playtime the cooldown is removed. By one hour u probaly gathered some gear and started to care for ur life like u where supposed to do in the beginning.

Ofc u play Dayz anyway u like. For me ur playstyle is the most boring way to play Dayz. Hunting players, scouting out locations is much more fun for me...whatever gear I use, I pick up along the way. And I enjoy that a shotgun demands completly different tactics compared to a mosin with a scope....so in that regards it dosent matter what gun I have. -

Wut? U look at the map cos u cant figure out direction...I on the other hand am a man and dont need a map to find my direction, and certainly never used no internet map. Dont question the tradition set by the elders....players start with a fleshlight and a battery for their pleasure.

Short answer...atm there are more reasons to kill u than reasons to not kill u. As the game developes we will hopefully get more reasons to not KoS and many of those that KoS now, will reduce that behaviour. Some, like me, will never stop KoS...cos its the playstyle I enjoy and many others enjoy it too. And that is how it should be. But if u ask me....development should be directed at reducing KoS behaviour by rewarding the opposite. Im not gonna suggest what those rewards should be, cos I dont care...I will kill u anyway and most likely eat u. But u obviously care...so find the KoS thread and pour ur heart out. -

Assuming that the gamma exploit is not fixed, I dont see the point in having a fully realistic nighttime with potentially pitch blackness. But if the gamme issue is resolved adequately I would like nighttime darker than it is now, if its cloudy. Rooms with no lightsoruce I would like to be pitch black. It adds the simple gameplay element of using a headlamp to find stuff easier but at the risk of players finding u easier. It also makes experience count more...u know the town layout and dont need a lightsource to find ur way to whatever building u seek. Picking noobs out in the mod cos they ran around in town with the flashlight on was pretty easy. But I also remember that usually 80% of the players on the server would log off when nighttime arrived. That made it easier to loot ofc...but again its not fun if everyone logs out. So I would not encourage a nighttime that simply makes most players stop playing. -

I have duct taped my downjacket...u cant use the sewingkit downjackets. Im pretty sure u can use duct tape on rainjackets too since the sewingkit wont apply to those either. There where some other items I used tape on but cant remember right now...we probaly can duct tape other players mouths later :) -

Im ducttaping in experimental...just reinforced my matchbox ;) In the real world if u walk in the mountains with a pair of sneakers and a 20-30 kg backpack, ur feet would be really sore after 8-10 hours. Do this for 1-3 days and im pretty sure u couldnt even walk. I have done this myself on backpacking trips. Also sneakers would be teared apart pretty fast in rugged terrain. Im not saying we need a feet soreness meter. But having hiking boots or sneakers should have its pros and cons. -

Yes im hung up on realism...for most aspects of gameplay. For instance...I would like there to be different clothing materials, wool keeps u warmer when wet...cotton/down have low insulating properties when wet. I would like run speed to be reduced when wearing a big full backapack...and certainly sprinting with a full 100 liter backpack is not viable. I would like proper pitch black nighttime...etc etc.. The direction Dayz is taking concering realism im mostly happy with. Small features like sharpening ur axe with a rock are awsome, fishing, hunting etc are all awsome. These features add depth to the game. Overall I would like that everything got slowed down in Dayz...specially concering hunger/thirst. There should be less food and u should stay satiated for longer. So maybe u wonder if I want a pooping mechanism cos I want realism so badly im prepared to take a dump for it...no not really, something like that dosent add much to the dynamic gameplay other than keeping u busy for about 15 seconds. To illustrate a meaningfull realistic gameplay element take wool clothing...u where lucky to have a thick wool sweater on ur body which made u less cold when the rain started, which again made u shiver less when u encountered another player...which again made it easier to take a clear shoot at said player.The other player...not so lucky cos he didnt have a wool sweater, cos he was hungry and weak and had badly damaged clothing on him...maybe even his gun was in poor condition, big akward backpack which made him less mobile etc etc. It all adds up and ties togehter.- 89 replies

Fully agree with u. I never think about finding pvp spots...and really the game by design isnt being made for that. If u dont enjoy the low action high tension gameplay ur missing out on some of the core gameplay of Dayz. And by low action high tension I mean everything that happends before the pvp happends.

I dont think chopping heads and limbs off would be to realistic...but then again we are fighting zombies, which characteristics are defined by those making the game. So the realism argument is easy to bypass. I would rather see the zombies reacting to the force of the impact when we hit them. Right now its pretty static, really no animation when they get hit. Makes melee combat kinda dull. Melee combat should be spiced up at some point, make it more visual and fun. -
