  1. Using the ARMA3 Engine as a base for the retail title. Good JOB! Thumbs up Dean. I would hate to pay for a ARMA2 engine based full release title to only pay for the ARMA3 engine based one the next year. That is a good way to loose people as its considered milking the fans.. Which often results in loosing the highest quality fans and you end up with the silly people left that will provide silly feedback and steer the game in a awkward direction :)
  2. I would prefer a safe-zone suvivor camps around the map which have baricaded up walls and when you go into them your weapon is perma holstered, and the AI npc would take no damage just in case. This would open up trade outposts for players and also serve as safezones. Some of the towns in the island atm are useless as all closed buildings so maybe even a whole town could be converted at some point.

    I wonder if ARMA3 will be able to handle city maps? It probably STILL can't but it would be fantastic as that is kinda what dayz needs, have large city map the size of current. Probably will never be technically possible for ARMA based engine, but can only hope.

    Make a WANTED board and have players put up items for offer for the killing of certain player killers. LOL would be funny and kinda cool.

    Atm I believe Rocket is forced to use pre-existing assets, I wouldn't be surprised if in beta he ads some custom models including female characters able to hold weapons and suited with backpack/armour options. Thought in all honesty there is probably limited female players atm, we might see a increase when ARMA3 comes out? who knows.

    I would prefer a fat zombie (realistic) that wobbled up to you (in a fast and believable manner) and puked on you which screwed your vision up. That would be a total WTF! moment, drink/use water to resolve the issue faster even.

    It would be more constructive to provide examples of some better sound options rather then ranting/flaming on about it, not only does it make you look bad but its VERY unlikely Rocket will pay attention to your comments from here on in Midaychi. Anyway, personally I would love to see enhanced weapon sounds and more variety in zombie noises but am happy to wait until beta or so for such things.

    Bears and wolf attacks, along with maybe some cat variety. It be nice if you were stalked by a animal. I mean lets face it, if u go wandering in the wilderness alone or whatever your bound to bump into a predator animal that may cause you issues.

    I would say scrap them and give player a option to customize their character at start (in region of map space that is not near T/K), giving them control would allow customization up to them. It would also mean no more auto model swap, I think this would be possible? Another option which might be in addition would be allow players to collect uniforms and clothing they find in game (from that spawn) to be used, this would mean instead of having everything available they would need to first collect clothing they like to be in. I think this would be fantastic and if you need help Rocket let me know, I might play with this idea myself to see how easy it would be to ad. I know that a mission called War In Takistan allowed players to swap into uniforms whenever they liked without issues. There however is one thing to consider, you would need to make all selectable clothing backpack compatible ones. I think that isn't a big issue but I do not know what options that gives, will check it out. PS. I can't vote, no permission. Additional something will need to be done about Bandits, would it be possible to ad in a Players killboard ingame, lets say just another Killboard selection from ingame that brought up a very basic list of players on server atm which you could see each player and check their kill stats, one of these stats might show how many people they have shot in that game session? This is just a idea, a way to identify player killers (and spawn killers) needs to exist, rather then direct coms which hardly works. I'm just throwing out ideas, another one would be to have red markers show up on map (dots/circles) for known player killers. If something isn't done, then dayz will eventually become a deathmatch/team-deathmatch game, you may argue this but EVERYONE I have encountered ingame agrees its going that way if not already. I think this kinda ruins the concept of the survivor mod when people are just killing everyone else for the hell of it (why take risk/why even bother playing game when you just kill people for their loot etc etc...), by making it so player killers are easily identifiable you will naturally reduce such element (other then the automatic desert camo model switching thing). Also increase the humanity recovery system from 5mins to 15.

    I think Rocket mentioned it in the changelog, I can only assume he meant what he said and that is when players disconnect from server THEIR zombies would do nothing at all. I assumed this meant that the player is spawning zombies locally to reduce load on server. This can be done in ARMA2 engine and is why some people will experience smooth AI movement and actions while others witness warping etc...

    I think not much is going to happen until ARMA3, allot of ISPs will love to have such a server up with a flagship title. ARMA2 is long in the tooth now... Maybe BIS will release a MP demo alpha soon? :) For the moment 325 month is pretty decent price. But we need to restrict foreigners or it will turn to custard. WHY? because US/EU would be playing on it 24/7 while NZ/AUS players tend to only play a little bit at night, thus its more manageable Vs the hungry foreigners.

    ARMA2 is shocking multi threading. If all workload was spread evenly across all cores there is no reason why it can't handle 1000 zombies. Also it seems zombies are being run on players PC so the load it taken off a fair bit for processing AI. Run a 50 player server, watch the process task for each core...

    The issue with the ARMA2 engine is that under load it can GLITCH scripting code, the dev(s) will need to put in a few safety nets every step of the way to police the code along when this script-glitching happens. Get 100 people on a server and watch the code glitch out.. errors happen, it all comes down to how well the server handles it and also the netcode. I would recommend a i7@5ghz for this type of game (server side) but likely people are trying to get it running on 3ghz rack machines etc... ARMA2 is not very multicore friendly btw.. Maybe ARMA3 will fix that.

    separate groups in-game otherwise you would see selection bars down bottom for each unit (player). Also players joining up in groups reduces the overall group count anyway.
