Make sure you play on servers that run a 1.62.XXXXX version of the game. It will prevent you from playing on 1.60.XXXXX and 1.61.XXXXX server, but should have improvements for city play. I believe it is Beta patch 95168 and 95208 that = 1.62

Try testing it with "Arma 2 free". If you get lower than 20 FPS, I would not touch DayZ, unless you are immune to headaches. Or maybe it just flat out refuses to launch, in which case..Question answered. But you can buy it now with a 20% discount (might go higher for tomorrows sale) on steam. And have it ready for when you get your new computer.

Cant either play lan, or find same server as freind!
Tweakie replied to StickyBeanz's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Join server US 52 -> Tell your brother to set his host-filter to "U-S-SPACE-5-2" og installer DayZ er super nemt.
1: Low FPS in cities is just common problem, right now. Best you can do, is make sure you play on the latest Beta Patches (from what I understood the new 1.62.95208, should bring a fair performance boost to cities) and wait for further improvements to both DayZ and Arma. 2: Make sure you play on server that has recently been restarted, the longer servers run the worse FPS you get (don't ask me why, don't know...just an observation, I have made) People say that changing GPU_MaxFramesAhead=1000; GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=3; to GPU_MaxFramesAhead=1; GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=1; is better for them. And for my own personal experience, actually using Vsync is better for me. (Test yourself) Truth be told, I think your major problem is your CPU.

Cant even get close to a town without being killed?
Tweakie replied to Wheatleyy's topic in New Player Discussion
They do, but they can't run inside, which means you get a 10-15 secs buffer to create distance and break line of sight....still a pussy move tho. -
Sir, you can have my beans for being a man!

Make sure you don't hold down shift, alt or any kind of modifiers (or they are stuck from the steam overlay). Fraps is clean, simple and just works.... Dxtory is abit cluttered, alot of settings and you have to double check things a few times. Another way to put it. Fraps = Mac, Dxtory = PC. If you have need for compressing the footage, try using Virtualdub to save some harddisk space. 1080 recordings can fill up a 2TB harddrive faster than you would think. My 2€cents

Dayz mod folder will block my Single Player Mode
Tweakie replied to andreamit's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
then I guess you have the -mod=@DayZ in your launch options. Remove that and retry what vinss suggested -
[Guide] How to set up your graphics properly
Tweakie replied to nahaz's topic in New Player Discussion
You should probably add that shadows on Normal will run it on the CPU and High/very high will run on the GPU (soo depending on where your bottleneck is) You probably also want to add "increasing audio samples" to avoid dying, even tho it is a small CPU hit ;) GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=1; doesn't change anything, "written by engine each start, changing it manually has no effect!" And WTH, you didn't turn off AToC? Doesn't matter I suppose, since you turn off AA. Lastly, Arma runs on a weird engine, that actually runs better with Vsync turned on (on:32 FPS vs off:30 FPS in the OA benchmark) http://community.bis...#Generic_config -
Alt-f4'ing gives you a massive advantage too, server hopping give you a advantage, reloging to refill magazines gave you a great advantage, hacking gives you a great advantage, running the incorrect Dayz files gives you a advantage, hoarding vehicles outside the map gave you a massive advantage, playing on the lowest possible graphics settings gives you an advantage. BUUUUUUHHHHTTT, doesn't mean I can recommend doing it (any of it). And to anyone thinking about the "well everyone else is doing it"...did your mother not teach you, that just because everyone else is jumping off a bridge, doesn't mean you should do it too. Also I would like to make it clear, that I do not mind VoIP in any other game, but in DayZ it just feels wrong. But still, it is all personal preference... I suppose.

"I need a new computer. One that can run Arma II flawless without any issues." not gonna happen... :) But it won't be your computer causing the issue if you get something like Dr621 suggest. What Dr621 suggested is pretty legit, thought I would add: ARMA/DayZ would love you if you went for a SSD for your primary harddisk. And I myself would also always pick a AMD graphics card over Nvidia...Nvidia too high price, for little added benefit (Not trying to start the usual fanboy flame war, this is just my own personal opinion). A AMD 7850 or 7870 would also be good options, if you run too high in price, but a 670 is currently probably the "best" card you can buy. MOST IMPORTANTLY!!!!! DO NOT buy a cheap motherboard and/or power supply! This is basicly the "heart" of your machine, if you skimp out here, you will pay for it later on. At the very least, get something midrange. I would say 100£-200£, should be earmarked for a good motherboard (do be careful tho, there are super crazy 300£+ motherboards, this is not what you want either ;) ) + make sure you get a decent fan for your CPU, nothing worse than a sub-par fan going crazy 24/7. my 2€cents.

IMHO, Teamspeak/mumble/vent detracts from the experience. Same as using online maps...yeah it is alot easier, but once you learn to avoid using them, it adds greatly to the "game". Thought i am still crossing my fingers for a ingame radio system.

[DayZMod] The Dayz Statistics thread!
Tweakie replied to Ander (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Is there some way of finding out if I was one of the first 50k players (Wanna be a hipster here). I am sure most of theses have been mentioned before...but 13 pages thread....yeah i only got soo much time to read all the "I WANT A HEATMAP vs HEAT MAPS ARE FOR SUCKERS" so here we go. Coke, Pepsi or water bottle, which is the drink of choice? Beans, Frank and beans, pasta or sardines? Which do players prefer to carry with them? Do female characters have a higher/longer life expectancy? How many players are TK'ed by accidental friendly fire? How many players are trying to impersonate Rocket? (IE calling themselves Rocket, Dean Hall, Dean "Rocket" H...etc etc) How many servers are actually running the UTC they advertise in the server name? How many servers resets the clock when you join/rejoin? How many hours off a day, is a "owned" vehicle idle? How many players have killed a zombie using empty cans/bottles? How many servers are whitelisted on a daily average? What is the temperature/state of your "hive server(s?)" components (is the CPU running at a constant 90C? etc etc and whatnots). List people with a mountain dew: I need names, frequented server and location! I will turn bandit for a mountain dew (don't judge me). -
Just about every possible error that is possible, is happening to me.
Tweakie replied to Errdaay's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Make sure that: Arma 2, Arma 2 OA, @DayZ, Beta and Expansion is enabled in the main menu->Expansion. Reboot when all has been enabled and recheck after the reboot that it is sticking. -
I have also noticed some weird behaviour lately. Disabling the beta patch and DayZ, in the expansion menu seemed to fix it. (Not sure which part has to be disabled tho, so just do both) Requires you reboot the game.
-
I am guessing you are still launching non beta patched ARMA 2. The beta patch doesn't overwrite your none-beta installation. Basicly go to your ARMA 2 OA folder and find the "Launch Arma2 OA Beta Patch" shortcut, use that and enable DayZ in main menu->Expansions add the -mod=@DayZ or -mod=DayZ (depending on what you named your DayZ folder) modifier to the shortcut, and it will now be a quick launch to DayZ You could also just RTFM the beta patch provides.

Beta Patch exe not picking up on DayZ Files?
Tweakie replied to skulkingfox's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Try reading the readme, that the beta patch provides. Once you figure it out " -mod=@DayZ " Protip: you are doing it wrong, so far. (Not trying to be mean, just teaching skills you will need to use the ARMA engine) -
Yeah, I have been having this lately too, it seems to be server specific. For debugging, if you look at the ocean (haven't tested with ponds), it seems to be glitching its animation in sync with the sutters... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=riKlTw-B4_M&feature=youtu.be I suggest moving server until you find one, that is smooth. Unless you have vehicles, I suppose.

Not really sure what your problem is. But if it is just plain installing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BhM5VTvGW00

Well first off. You probably want to run the game on pretty low settings, with that Graphics card (which would also improve FPS :P), the game was also pretty demanding, despite not "looking" it. BUT, Your FPS can be greatly affected by the server you are playing on, I sometimes get 30-40 FPS in a area, if i connect to another server I might get 50-60 FPS....or 20-30. Test over multiple servers. And don't test near big cities, as they kill FPS...I myself don't wanna go near Cherno/elektro/berezino due to having 10~FPS there. While having 30+ in the rest of the map. Disable AA completely, Drawdistance is locked by the mod, you can't change that (well you can, but it changes nothing). And Arma is a weird engine, that might actually run better with Vsync on (I get 1 extra FPS on the benchmarks, not much...but 1 FPS, I will take it)

Can't right click items in 'Gear' menu
Tweakie replied to rainbow (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Just a weird thing you might try (99% sure it won't fix it, but what the hey). Open your gear menu and drag it to another place on the screen...then try rightclicking the item in question. I got a the pop-up in a weird place of the screen, when i did that...maybe it actually helps you, in your situation. But like I said, 99% sure it won't fix it. + Ofc, try reinstalling everything, Wipe folders and reinstall.. 1: Dayz 2: Beta patch 3: The whole damn game. My unhelpful two €cents. -
Another silly thing you can try, which might help. When ingame, press "Shift+numberpad Minus" and then type "flush" (there is no prompt). Also, didn't nvidia just release a Win8 Driver? Probably won't work, but might aswell try.

Or screenshots would also be helpful. Press print screen on each step of your problem, and Ctrl-v into paint.

Tried moving inventory screen?

I know that russian servers are allowed to run with lower player count, than other servers....but only 5 players? Guessing 5 clan mates are farming up good equipment before they open up to more players... http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197960634382/screenshot/595849335338544730 http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197960634382/screenshot/595849335338942737
