I have also noticed some weird behaviour lately. Disabling the beta patch and DayZ, in the expansion menu seemed to fix it. (Not sure which part has to be disabled tho, so just do both) Requires you reboot the game.

I am guessing you are still launching non beta patched ARMA 2. The beta patch doesn't overwrite your none-beta installation. Basicly go to your ARMA 2 OA folder and find the "Launch Arma2 OA Beta Patch" shortcut, use that and enable DayZ in main menu->Expansions add the -mod=@DayZ or -mod=DayZ (depending on what you named your DayZ folder) modifier to the shortcut, and it will now be a quick launch to DayZ You could also just RTFM the beta patch provides.

Try reading the readme, that the beta patch provides. Once you figure it out " -mod=@DayZ " Protip: you are doing it wrong, so far. (Not trying to be mean, just teaching skills you will need to use the ARMA engine)

Yeah, I have been having this lately too, it seems to be server specific. For debugging, if you look at the ocean (haven't tested with ponds), it seems to be glitching its animation in sync with the sutters... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=riKlTw-B4_M&feature=youtu.be I suggest moving server until you find one, that is smooth. Unless you have vehicles, I suppose.

Well first off. You probably want to run the game on pretty low settings, with that Graphics card (which would also improve FPS :P), the game was also pretty demanding, despite not "looking" it. BUT, Your FPS can be greatly affected by the server you are playing on, I sometimes get 30-40 FPS in a area, if i connect to another server I might get 50-60 FPS....or 20-30. Test over multiple servers. And don't test near big cities, as they kill FPS...I myself don't wanna go near Cherno/elektro/berezino due to having 10~FPS there. While having 30+ in the rest of the map. Disable AA completely, Drawdistance is locked by the mod, you can't change that (well you can, but it changes nothing). And Arma is a weird engine, that might actually run better with Vsync on (I get 1 extra FPS on the benchmarks, not much...but 1 FPS, I will take it)

Just a weird thing you might try (99% sure it won't fix it, but what the hey). Open your gear menu and drag it to another place on the screen...then try rightclicking the item in question. I got a the pop-up in a weird place of the screen, when i did that...maybe it actually helps you, in your situation. But like I said, 99% sure it won't fix it. + Ofc, try reinstalling everything, Wipe folders and reinstall.. 1: Dayz 2: Beta patch 3: The whole damn game. My unhelpful two €cents.

Another silly thing you can try, which might help. When ingame, press "Shift+numberpad Minus" and then type "flush" (there is no prompt). Also, didn't nvidia just release a Win8 Driver? Probably won't work, but might aswell try.

Or screenshots would also be helpful. Press print screen on each step of your problem, and Ctrl-v into paint.

I know that russian servers are allowed to run with lower player count, than other servers....but only 5 players? Well, if you spent 30$ for DayZ you are kinda silly. DayZ is in alpha, buggy and hard to get working. BUT, have you made sure you are launching Combined Ops?....when you start up Arrowhead, go in the Expantion menu, and make sure: Arma 2, Arma2 Arrowhead and DayZ is enabled.

UK 26 23:45 (estimate) GMT+1. Found a Dead survivor at stary sobor, who had all the gear you could ever want... M4 SD, PDW, NVG, GPS, Rangefinder, Coyote backpack, etc etc and whatnots...wearing normal survivor cloths. His name was Ivan (according to Study body). Okayyyy, might have been a really good player, since it was on a hardcore server. But! he also had 20 G36 SD clips, which made me afraid it was hacked (also the russian name). Or is it possible it was from the nearby crashed chopper? 1 minute later we came under fire from a Sniper, who ofcause left when we shot him back....hope he bleeds out on a another server (but that is beside the point) The M4 I lost to the lovely arma inventory system...but I still got the rest of his lovely stuff. Do I have to drop it? and do I also have to drop all the regular items (rare and in the mod but probably hacked)

Yeah, Rocket you suck!! Why haven't you pressed the "Fix Bugs" and "Create Anti-cheat" buttons yet? Or are you using really bad software, to program in? Also, I would suggest growing 2 more arms, so you can program twice as fast.

yeah....You guys are right...dropping the G36 ammo. If a Dayz-Admin/mod tells me I have to drop the rest, ofc I will. But I would love some confirmation.

Yeah well, i am also worried about the rest of the loot...The NVGs, GPS, Rangefinder...since it might be hacked in too (hell even the backpack) and if i have to ditch everything i picked up from him....i will be stuck with My trusty SAW....and about nothing else :/ but the loot looked so damn tasty.

I just had it too (while using my Betapatch shortcut), then I started Combined Ops from Steam, it worked normal...then I retried my Shortcut, and everything was K. Only difference between today and yesterday (when it worked fine), was that I verified game cache, and Bad Serial came along for the ride

We already have gone to another server. And we blame your server (actually we blame the Admin), for the most convenient timed kick on somebody making it off with his Pickup truck. If at ANY point in the 1½+ hours we were on the server, any one of our 6 players had been kick or DC'ed...maybe I would believe you. But as soon as he is driving off with the truck...Timing too fucking good. Before the last vehicle/tent update, we had a regular server in which we had great battles with a group of Russians, lost great loot/ATVs to them..But worst they did was server hopping/Alt-F4, so we had no problems staying. Player exploiting mechanics, can't be helped...Admins abusing powers, can be help (yeah yeah blah blah, "I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING" etc etc and whatnots).

Sure sure. Point is, let people know that it is a bad server, and at some point when somebody does remember to get a screenshot or lucky enough to record it...there is enough suspicion, that you can't edit the logs to get around it. That, or you can just run a clean server. And FFS fix your Direct chat... do you know how annoying it is to have somebody talking foreign language while you are raiding choppers/his camp.

WTF, were you doing in the edge off the map, on the south-western border of the map?? Only reason we found out the camp was there, was due to our newbie who had less than 3 hours game time, being lost. 1: Yeah we were mad that he killed us, not angry at him, but at us for taking too long, being too greedy (spent far too long there, we could easily have gotten out multiple times). We reported the server due to the very convenient kick of our driver on a server where the Player name shows up when you hover you mouse over the vehicle. 2: It was me "Tweakie" who came back, 5 minutes later to try and reclaim my body. Got my G17, watch, map, etc etc..(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4W4MSN73go) back, while "Arcade" tried to sneak up and execute me (he failed) but won the ensuing G17 vs AK battle with me, curse you broken legs. Others might have come back later on, (wouldn't know since I went to bed 3: Why would he kick a random player, who just happen to be driving in a pickup truck, how would he even know his backpack was "Strange", that is just a helluva coincident. 03-07-12 23:30~ (GMT+1) Just to make the digging through the logs easy, Look for when "Tweakie" and "Sas" died While looting a camp with a White pick-up and 2 buses, just east (Edit:bahhhh west**) of Kamenka, the owners seemed to come back. So one of our guys (George) toke off in the pick-up and was kicked 30 secs later (it is a server showing playertags) luckily he had a passenger who could switch seats and take it out to be destroyed, since we are not gonna bother with this server again, because the Admin is untrustworthy, so just for spite. The kick did not mention any reason for the kick (IE ping). Also Mr admin, your direct chat could be heard all over the map the preceding hour.

Have you considered downgrading to the last version that worked for you? there still seems to be legacy servers around. Less than updated servers...but none the less Servers I hope you kept a backup of old versions, otherwise you might have to do some digging, seems the website no longer has the older versions available. Seems 1.6.0.1 is available here: http://www.moddb.com/mods/dayz/downloads/dayz-v1601 And hopefully 1.7.2 is released soon, and fixes the problems for you. BTW there was a bug in one of the later beta patches (that has been fixed) https://dev-heaven.net/issues/35251 that might be causing the problem for you (incase you are very attached to ONE server that is running beta patch that has not been updated)

Have you made sure you have upped your "audio samples"? I suppose some sounds are getting cut because of the 32 sample limit.
