after pressing G, double click your backpack to open it. To make it more clear, go to a loot pile (empty tin cans or the likes)...open the lootpile and while in that interface, double click your backpack.

He is checking his pockets, and not opening his backpack.

New OA patch is causing complete system lockup.
Tweakie replied to BazBro's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Steam didn't install the new beta patch. It installed the new patch. As a steam player: you no longer have the option (at least that I know off) to play on 1.60 or 1.61 servers. -
If you got 1.62 installed, then you are playing the current version of Arma. You should not try downgrade.

AToC = http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?123203-ArmA-2-OA-Beta-Build-83363&p=1998153#post1998153 best description i have seen

The new patch lets you disable AToC. Nevermind that you could actually do it, for the past 2 months, by editing the config...OP is just abit clueless.

Unable to move/look around without insane delay
Tweakie replied to Bruttix's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
It is a pretty low spec laptop. With a GPU that is below the minimum specifications of Arma, and a pretty weak CPU. You will need a new laptop, or just a semi cheap desktop. The Arma is deceptively demanding, despite not looking great. It is busy doing stuff you won't notice. -
Then you should be all set. But in any case, all of the cards you list, are fine choices (not the "super high-end MUHAHAHAHA POWAAAAAHHH" lines, but solid). Though, I would not personally get a 5850 (using one myself, thinking of replacing), as it is 2 generations old at this point. Any of them should be good, get the one you like. Ideally you should get a Nvidia 670, but they are still fairly high priced.

Yes zombies will be fixed, either in the Standalone version...Or when the AI system has been completely rewritten (so, that would = unlikely). Right now the zombie AI is some hacked version of the normal Arma AI, and sadly you can expect it to be used for the next while. Well unless you can re-write it for them, in which case I am sure they would use your system, assuming it didn't cause performance issues.
-
Pretty sure they didn't remove the L85A2 from the game (might be wrong, I have no concrete evidence) but I do remembering reading: That they would start removing duped items, or maybe it was hacked in to begin with. Also there was a bug in 1.7.2 that caused the cleanup script to remove legit L85's. But it should have been fixed, maybe you joined a server using messed up files, dunno.

Inb4 "wah wah wah, AMD Drivers suck!" "£179.99 for a XFX AMD Radeon HD 7850 2gb" = Good choice! and XFX have a better than average warranty. And it should provide all the GPU power you would need to play DayZ. You might still be bottlenecked by your Harddisk or CPU, but that is another issue

Lowest Settings my Pc can run DayZ?
Tweakie replied to Blueluigi6 (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Ofc it is black, you don't have a graphics card installed. -
Whooaahh, why do you add ½ a essay, after I make fun off your stupid "Good job." post Now I almost look weird.
-
And the Arma is a highly modular engine...so yes, they can infact make big changes to it. However it will take longer time, than just picking the low hanging fruit. Like, there was this guy who did some really fancy stuff with the Arma engine and a Hiveserver...oh and there were zombies. Wait, Sheeeeeeeiiitttt. BTW, suggestion made now could ultimately go on the list of "to do" for a/the standalone version. So, You sir, Yes you Mr. ChunkyTomato. Know what the fuck you are talking about, or don't be a wiseass. Protip.
-
You could try using the mighty copy function windows has? Or you will need to setup the game again. Protip: CD key = Your character.

I like purple tigers, they look really tasty in a mushroomy kinda way. I think I win, my post is more pointless and with less thought behind it.

Erhmm, what? You don't want a map to be used as a map? How can a player have GPS-work?? All GPS-work is done by computers and satelites(more computers). How will it be much more realistic? if they can or can't do GPS-work? (I still don't see how that will work, but I will go with you for now) BTW now that i have read your post 6 times and taken the time to be sarcastic, I realise you are talking about Waypoints.

On again, off again FPS lag, can't figure out why.
Tweakie replied to grayclay's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
1: Can't be bother to explain that one for you. Dig around yourself. Or go test it. 2: http://www.anandtech.com/show/4955/the-bulldozer-review-amd-fx8150-tested/5 http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/windows-7-hotfix-bulldozer-performance,3119.html (not his CPU persay, but the same line) 3: http://da.twitch.tv/fpsguru/b/325515481 somewhere near the end, he mentions that the 1.62.XXXXX beta patches have improvements for cities. 4: Bugger off. I am not writing a essay here, I shouldn't have to source it. Or actually know something about the subject before crying foul. -
Three Noobs Looking for Server With Manners
Tweakie replied to Johnny Knuckles's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yeeeeeeeahhh, good luck. There are some server which say "Co-op" or "Co-op encouraged" etc etc, in their name. But, all the same players can join, and they don't have to care about the server rules/suggestion, only DayZ rules. You cannot lock a server, you cannot password a server and you cannot "enforce" any of your own personal ideas of how the mod should be played. Server admins are not allowed to punish peoples playing style. Or they will risk being blacklisted from the Hiveserver. You can maybe find a non-hive server, where the admin can have greater control. Though I would not recommend it. You just have to play it for longer and start to learn where is "safer" and where is a killzone. -

Tweakie replied to grayclay's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
A few factors spring to mind. 1: Server up time affects your FPS...don't ask me why...it just does. Or just in general, Servers affect your FPS. Try on servers that have just started up, to see how it runs there. 2: Unless you are using a Phenom: You don't exactly have a gaming CPU. You are on a architechture that isn't really tested yet, with an overly long pipeline and that is built for number crunching. Win7 doesn't know how to use proper, it has been hotfixed for improved performance, but that is still not natively supported (it will work better in windows 8).. Also just to be pedantic, you have a 3xdual core CPU. 3: Maybe you are not playing on the newest beta patch servers, which should have some improvements for city FPS. But yeah Cities kill your FPS. -
You need to be alittle more clear, on what the fuck you are trying to say. 1:???? you talking about CPU Priority? 2: Go add it to your shortcut?? Right clicking is a powerful tool.

Well, Graphics doesn't equal everything and Arma isn't based around looking good like Skyrim is. You want help...but you don't give any specs or actual useful info....Sooo can't help you. Except to say, don't play DayZ on a Laptop. And there are about 300 threads from this week, about bad performance, maybe you should have a look at them. Best I can do is: You have a bottleneck in your system somewhere, go find it.

Buhhhtt, there are no hospitals inland...which is why you need to make sure, you aren't just carrying guns and ammo, and actually bring along some meds. You made a mistake, you didn't have a proper amount of meds...now you are paying for it. It is the circle of DayZ, you fuck up, you get smarter, you play better, you fuck up, you get...well you get the point... Don't get me wrong, we have all made that mistake (or will, just wait), I was lucky enough to have a friend come by with morphine. And why did you create the topic 3 times?
-
1: It has been in the mod before, it was hotfixed out because it was not working as intended. 2: It is coming back in the upcoming update (assuming it is working correctly this time) 3: Has been suggested multiple times, and the forum has a search function.

I am gonna take a unproven guess and say "No" On the bright side a new card that is 3-7 times better should be very cheap (you are using a very old graphics card). But my old 18xx (i forgot which) card was only APG port, which I will take a wild guess that yours might be too, and it is very hard to find any usable AGP cards at this point, due to it being a dated "format". So check to make sure what ports you have available and buy a suitable replacement. That being said, if you are using a 1xxx series ATI card, you might also be using a very old CPU, which will cause you equal problems. Arma being very reliant on your CPU. Please post that complete stats of your computer, if we are to judge it. Or just test it, if you haven't bought ARMA 2 CO yet..you can try using ARMA 2 Free http://www.arma2.com/free/ which won't be 1:1 on the requirements due to much lower texture quality, but should still give a fair indication.
