Try keeping up to date...and read the patch notes. This is a suggestion that is about 3 months old. http://dayzmod.com/f...rolling-update/ " 5 second timeout on disconnect is NOT implemented, as the engine is preventing it currently"
-
And all of theses have been suggested 58 times before. 1: Breaking bones, is as far as I know based on the ARMA engine, so not a dayz issue. 2: Punching...makes no sense, if you are close enough to punch a zombie in his teeth, he is close enough to bite your head off. 3: Axes and crowbar have allready been hacked in. Hacking in the knife would require more animations work and is a issue that can be easily addressed in the standalone version. If they add the knife now, people will want a 2x4, if they add a 2x4, people will want to use the flashlight and then a baseball bat and then.. etc etc etc. 2 of 3 are valid points, but stuff that is probably silly to waste time on, given how much easier they would be to address in the standalone.

My graphics are lagging like hell, or could this be the server?
Tweakie replied to Krisiun's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
This engine is way more powerful than Frostbite. Sure sure, blah blah blah Battlefield 3 looks great. But Arma is actually simulating a metric fuck ton of under the hood stuff. But I will cut to the chase. Some servers affect your FPS, and you have a pretty weak PC, weak CPU and a 2 gen old midtier GPU. I got a 5850, and it is not powerful enough to play on very high setting....unless I want to play on 15 FPS. Again, there are 600 threads you can use to go debug you problem and there is a Search function. Nope I will not link them for you, I want to teach you how to fish. Not just give you the fish. -

Battleye is getting a bit touchy, lately. Also behold the Jesus boat!

I was considering shooting by his feet to say hello (Direct chat is broken for me or the server), but it could go and backfire in my face He will never know it...but he was very lucky this day. How many players would not have taken the shot I had lined up on him?

Not the most informative post, I have ever seen....but I will take it. Hoping it means the patch is coming today, despite being friday.

too hard with extremely sewere consequences. One small mistake and you loose hours of accumulate rewards. Funny, I think it is abit too easy, although I remember my first 3-4 lives, God I was bad. Very rarely any feeling of triumph (at all) Huh, I guess you have never turned the table on somebody who shot first. Never found NVGs, haven't set up a base with vehicles. Instead of “+100 headshot points” you actually have to work for it and do something worth noting. Really unprecise controls ?? Lack of auto-aim? Or bad wording? The controls are pretty precise, you press D, you move right, you move the mouse...your aim moves. Everything Is just normal ....with extremely severe consequences - which is fine if the in-game possiblities match the challenges. They don't: unrealistic in a bad way - why can't I use a hunting knife or my bare fists to fight zombies? have they grown fangs when they became zombie? lack of melee-weapons: I'm sitting at a laptop now: used right I can kill people with it. Why can't I beat the zombies with 2x4? branches? the big hatchets in the chopping blocks? every household has a kitchen; what about the butchers knife in there? Because Soldiers prefer using a 2x4 over a M4.......This is due to being a Mod in alpha on a milsim engine and something you can expect to be fixed in a standlone. So far a Axe and Crowbar has been hacked in. More than enough. (Do your research) Bad affordance: you can't see which houses you can loot and which you can. Again, learn the difference between DayZ the Mod and Arma the game...This is a limit of Arma (do your research) Controls are very different from other shooters (Counterstrike, Team Fortress, Battlefield) and way to complicated for this game. Shave them down. Learn to open your controls settings, and set up to your liking?? or are you are a console gamer? How come a whole colonne of dead soldier doesn't have any weapons on them? did the zombies take them? seriously? Fair point, and one that has been made 15 times before. Extremely little chance of escaping zombies once you are detected - essentially: detected = dead. Trololo, losing zombies is extremely easy, run through buildings...run up hills, run up on rocks...run through a fucking pine tree...Easy peasy, learn the mechanics before you bitch, please. Really really annoying with the grey screen when you are hurt. And this is because: in a proper version, you will not have a debug monitor or little icons to tell you if you are hurt...it is all done with ingame cues In conclusion: You are a newbie, who don't know the engine nor the mod. If you had actually taken the time to research or play it

Server without item dropping while swimming
Tweakie replied to ZigZAg (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Was fixed a long time ago in a beta patch...Just make sure you don't try to open your inventory while swimming. It can still bug out....But I went swimming about 400 meters a few weeks ago, with a friend. We didn't lose our gear. 20 minutes later (on another server) another friend did the same, he still had his gear when he got out of the water..then we got hit with a short yellow chain and he lost it. It's basic luck -
Use steam, Hold down W, open steam overlay.. press shift and tab again, to stop them from sticking too.
-
No, when you press G, the interface you see will be the stuff you have "quick access" to... IE Grenades you can throw, magazine you can reload, Jerry cans you can fill up a car with.
-
after pressing G, double click your backpack to open it. To make it more clear, go to a loot pile (empty tin cans or the likes)...open the lootpile and while in that interface, double click your backpack.
-
He is checking his pockets, and not opening his backpack.

New OA patch is causing complete system lockup.
Tweakie replied to BazBro's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Steam didn't install the new beta patch. It installed the new patch. As a steam player: you no longer have the option (at least that I know off) to play on 1.60 or 1.61 servers. -
If you got 1.62 installed, then you are playing the current version of Arma. You should not try downgrade.

AToC = http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?123203-ArmA-2-OA-Beta-Build-83363&p=1998153#post1998153 best description i have seen
-
The new patch lets you disable AToC. Nevermind that you could actually do it, for the past 2 months, by editing the config...OP is just abit clueless.

Unable to move/look around without insane delay
Tweakie replied to Bruttix's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
It is a pretty low spec laptop. With a GPU that is below the minimum specifications of Arma, and a pretty weak CPU. You will need a new laptop, or just a semi cheap desktop. The Arma is deceptively demanding, despite not looking great. It is busy doing stuff you won't notice. -
Then you should be all set. But in any case, all of the cards you list, are fine choices (not the "super high-end MUHAHAHAHA POWAAAAAHHH" lines, but solid). Though, I would not personally get a 5850 (using one myself, thinking of replacing), as it is 2 generations old at this point. Any of them should be good, get the one you like. Ideally you should get a Nvidia 670, but they are still fairly high priced.
-
Yes zombies will be fixed, either in the Standalone version...Or when the AI system has been completely rewritten (so, that would = unlikely). Right now the zombie AI is some hacked version of the normal Arma AI, and sadly you can expect it to be used for the next while. Well unless you can re-write it for them, in which case I am sure they would use your system, assuming it didn't cause performance issues.
-
Pretty sure they didn't remove the L85A2 from the game (might be wrong, I have no concrete evidence) but I do remembering reading: That they would start removing duped items, or maybe it was hacked in to begin with. Also there was a bug in 1.7.2 that caused the cleanup script to remove legit L85's. But it should have been fixed, maybe you joined a server using messed up files, dunno.
-
Inb4 "wah wah wah, AMD Drivers suck!" "£179.99 for a XFX AMD Radeon HD 7850 2gb" = Good choice! and XFX have a better than average warranty. And it should provide all the GPU power you would need to play DayZ. You might still be bottlenecked by your Harddisk or CPU, but that is another issue

Lowest Settings my Pc can run DayZ?
Tweakie replied to Blueluigi6 (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Ofc it is black, you don't have a graphics card installed. -
Whooaahh, why do you add ½ a essay, after I make fun off your stupid "Good job." post Now I almost look weird.
-
And the Arma is a highly modular engine...so yes, they can infact make big changes to it. However it will take longer time, than just picking the low hanging fruit. Like, there was this guy who did some really fancy stuff with the Arma engine and a Hiveserver...oh and there were zombies. Wait, Sheeeeeeeiiitttt. BTW, suggestion made now could ultimately go on the list of "to do" for a/the standalone version. So, You sir, Yes you Mr. ChunkyTomato. Know what the fuck you are talking about, or don't be a wiseass. Protip.
