    Pending Update: Build 1.7.2

    saw this in the latest arma changelog [93958] New: Dropping items while swimming can be disabled with "enableItemsDropping = 0;" in description.ext will this find its way into dayz or do we keep loosing stuff from closed backpacks?
  4. i understand your point question is if people really tested all 1.7.1.x versions.. which i doubt since they have been released so close to each other.. i understand the need for testing of special features but that was the reason of the (failed) limited release of 1.7 wasnt it.. i would like a stronger control over all this.. i fully understand a hotfix.. but a hotfix for a hotfix juust shows premature release of work in progress code. i wish there would be some stability with versions and some stronger control over servers who run outdated data.. maybe even implement a check so that servers running older arma betas and dayz versions cant connect to hive.. because all thoose version releases are a reason the servers are completly mixed version shake.
  5. well if you'd read what i wrote , my suggestion would be weekly new version , each version either with bugfixes or new features not sure where your "months" are coming from.

Well maybe i am in a minority.. but i would be glad if there would be an actual slow down of new dayz versions.. one version hunts the next which gets followed by several hotfixes.. i can understand as a dev to release the cool new features as early as possible but maybe a tick tock mentally would be better? like one week is being worked on bugfixes then a version is released, the next week is being worked on new features and this is released at the end of the second week and then a week of bugfixing follow etc. maybe combine this with a really limited release to a handfull of trusty server admins (like 10-20 server to test things out) and the hotfix rush could be minimized.. this would get some calmness into the currently crazy release rushes kind hard to find a proper working server with 5 different dayz versions released in short time with dozens of arma beta patches in the mix and sever admins who are not able to keep up with that and some not forcing the use of beta version and others still running "old" (like a day or two) versions of dayz.. not to mention if you rather stick to a "home" server or a few different ones.. due to location/ping/whatever i really appreciate all the work that went and goes into this amazing mod.. but i think the current version overflow is just too much and explodes the server landscape into a huge fragmented pile. just my 2 cents.. cheers guys
  7. so you have no gun so what? if you are a noob and emptied your clips in a group of zeds that did not help you either to "learn" the game.. without a weapon you are forced to either be smart and silent or try to outrun doom in the next building.. yeah you will die alot as a newbie but the gear does not make a difference.. without a gun you need to evade a zed following you.. or better dont try tho aggro him in the first place.. yeah the learning curve is steep so what? before there was none because alot of player choose this is their deathmatch game as long as their makarov clips last.. there was no punishment because you just spawned with new mak and fresh clips and just jump back i to the mindless shootouts.. now if you find a weapon that took you some work todo it will be precious and you surely wont be as hasty to play rambo on zeds or other players.. this changes the start for the better.. of course later on with your tent city whatnot it makes not much of a difference.. but to get their is now tougher.. i myself easily played 10-20 rounds of elektro dm after i lost a long time chr , but by doing that i became part of the problem and i stopped doing so and later votes yes on the reduced gear. the point is this is suppose to be hard.. extreemly hard.. thats the point .. its a zombie apocalypse.. not a zombie arcade shooter.. every time someone say fuck it thats too difficult , then the mod did right, because difficult does not mean imposaible.. as others are quite able to survive as new spawns. everyone can do it if they try to accept this as a what is is.. a difficult surivival simulation that gets too easy in the current end game
  8. blood smell on a sniper yeah right.. the smell comes flying back the hundred meters.. of course zeds should magically appear in regions they never are because someone got killed.. silly the thing is your punishment is already implemented.. shooting with zeds nearby can aggro them.. what else do you want.. why should some spawn if there where none before.. why should someone be additionally punished because he won a firefight? if anything the looser should be punished (which he is with 1711) this is a world of anarchy and the point is that there are no rules.. alot player apparently dont understand that this mod is not suppose to be fair.. never

Poor weaponless newborns.. well i'm not really a bandit.. but because i indirectly where responsible for this chaps death..i suppose it fits here.. so i log in and the jeep i stole a day earlier was stolen from me (have fun with the 40+ cooked meat i hunted in the woods) but a half hour later i find a boat... so i drive around in the boat along the cost to try out the new eagle eye zeds.. (and they fucking have binocluars implanted into their faces) and i see plenty of dead bodies on the shore as i drive furhter.. but no living activity.. but then near the docks of elektro i saw someone running.. the first alive guy in 1.7.1 for me.. but he was bleading and tried to get into a building to bandage himself from a previous zed attack (i assume) but when he opens the door there is a zed standing inside, getting instant aggro and punching the guy into the face.. so now i come in .. i sit on dakon island watching this but only have a winny and a 1911.. so sniping is out of the question.. but i do not know how faar the 1911 bullets actualy fly.. so i take it out and follow him with the iron sight.. while he runs around another building, climbs over fences etc. do loose the one zed.. and he apparently manages todo so.. because the zed stops.. like a few metres away from him on the other side of the house.. and the guy start bandaging himself.. :D now i aim.. and shoot 2.3 bullets into his direction.. of course i do not hit with that distance.. but apparently he notices that he is being shot at.. and starts running (bad choice) and aggros the zed again.. again he tries to loose him but he is bleeding all the time.. so i take out the bino again to easier follow him and his new buddy and he seems to go for a dead guy taking his nap on the coast.. maybe he was hoping to find another bandage.. i switch to the gun again for a few single shoots to keep him going but he knelled next to the dead guy to check his gear.. but there was apparently nothing in him.. and then the zed was next to him and beat him down he want uncounsious first.. the got up again just to get knocked back down by the zed and die.. poor guy.. after he died the zed despawned pretty fast.. i took the boat and drove over there to check out the mess i participated (at least it felt like it) both dead guys where empty and i continued my boat drive along the cost to the next more secure gas station to refull the boat.. and since karma is a bitch :D this is what happened a few seconds before i reached the shore.. hehe i felt a bit sorry for the guy earlier.. but then.. he was silly anyway going so close to zeds in broad daylight..

  11. well i guess what youll see next are not headhunter trying to snatch rocket away but simple clones that are being started right now to hit the bargain bin by xmas.. i dont see a problem with the media.. the way samdbox games work is that every session is unique.. everyone experiences something different and that leads to unlimited funny,sad and crazy stories. alot of dayz player spend their time off game talking about it, posting about it or watching videos of other players.. its a bit like facebook during a zombie apocalypse.. and a huge benefit to the devs is that its an mod because they can fuck around with every crazy idea they have and just do it and see the outcome.. there is not a myriad of leads, head, managers etc. you need approval from before you even hit a key on the keyboard.. this is an experiment and as a dev myself i can say that being free in your creativity is the greatest joy you can have.. one of the reasons so many go indie or do mods like this one.. no one cares about businessplan, monetarization, risk or whatever.. this is the purest form of game developement.. so let the media cover it because its awesome to work out of the box..
  12. its actually still way to bright at night.. i mean we want it uber realistic, right? like the faar side of the moon? because when its dark.. and i press g i can actually see my inventory..i mean come one that completly unrealistic.. if i cant see my hands how come the inventory does not change to a pure black texture.. i mean trying to bandage yourself in the dark because of invisible (to your murky eyes) zeds attacking you and fiddling around in the blacked out inventory to use an item only to hear a zishhhh, gulp, gulp, gulp.. would be ace.. and so realistic.. and dont forget the big amount of cash you can save playing in the dark.. i mean you can just switch off your monitor because it makes no difference (and make it temp. more realistic because you cant see the gui taht way.. yeah!) but you save some money.. and of course at night zeds should only go aggro if you bump directly into them.. because they should not be able to see you either.. then of course we need colission impact damage.. if a player dares to run around he should start bleeding or break his bones when he hits a tree or a wall.. how unrealisitc to run for a minute against an object without noticing it.. and what would be the cherry on top , if the chr starts swearing after such an dmg.. some random samples played back.. and since im already writing a wall.. how about (since you eat 95% beans) can actualy light up your farts.. or play random fart sound some time after eating beans.. i mean stories like "i aggroed some zeds in total darkness because i let one out" would be hilarious.. depending on gas amount you could get an enfiels like aggro radius... brrrrttttt.. oh fuck not again.... zeds...!!!! anyway.. the night is not yet dark enough and way too unrealistic.. and even nvg should be useless because if there is not the slightes amount of ambient light they cant amplify anything... so darkness for everyone either in black or green :) yay! :heart:
  13. youll be able to hide from zombies.. and if everyone starts empty chance is high you meet somebody without a weapon either.. having less means also you are an less attractive target.. sinve you have nothing to loot.. and agrooing zeds can cost you more ammo than tha single can of beans you are wearing.. in the end a banit can shoot you no matter what.. and if he is a spawn sniper you can start with a rocketlauncher and still get killed after a few seconds.. does not matter what you spawn with.. if he is out for a kill.
