  1. Very good server. Main points for me: 1. Properly hard zombies (alot of them, they hit hard, zombies roam the forests too and make you poop your pants) 2. Crafting (you can craft ATV and motorbike, more being complex system being developed) and base-system (three bases for players to own and conquer, with "key-system" to keep your shit safe) with player-built bases in the works 3. Good admins, simple rules, emphasis on both survival AND pvp, good players 4. No hundreds of vehicles, moderate and well thought of additions (parachute spawns etc.) 5. Very skilled developers running the server, "KK's combat vault" and other fixes have originated from this server (KK is server admin here) making regular patches and bug-fixes that other servers simply dont have! All in all 5/5 rating, golden award and champaign showers. Dayzmad, UK 1

I don't think making medical situations and treatment more complex is a bad thing, after all this is a survival game and in a violent environment as zombie-apocalypse medical issues should be common problems that pose a great threat at survivors coping in the world. As it is now, we have three: bloodloss, broken bones and infection. Blood you gain with food and bloodbags and bleeding is stopped with bandages, broken bones you deal with by morphine and infection is now trivial with antibiotics spawnin everywhere. This is a good basic system, but as it is now it is very basic and could easily be made to be something more, something larger. There could be a multitude of diseases ravaging the populus. In addition to the current "infection" i.e. food could give you "the runs"; making you sick to your stomach (vomiting every now and then) and making you hungry and unable to digest food properly (-70% HP gains, +70% getting hungry&thirsty timer, +60% exhaustion). To battle this new medicine could be intoduced, and even some natural herbs could be collected from forests to boil some tee to remedy upset stomach (for this you'd need fire, herbs, kettle/pot/tincan) :D Add five or six diseases that you can catch from different things, add more indepth system for fixing broken bones, add concussion, strains and some other physical injuries + more complex "crafting-like" treatment process where you need to have medicine, painkillers and utilities (bandages, sticks, syringes, whatnots) and presto = good, indepth survival challenge. Besides this I would love to see more indepth crafting system. I know a certain very lovely server that has craftable ATV's and Motorbikes (you collect parts, chunk them to pile, craft = you got your transportation). It is also possible to make it so that i.e. you can gather small value items like tincans and combine them to scrapmetal, that you can use with other stuff to build i.e. motor-part, that you can use to build a motorbike together with other parts it requires. What we need in DayZ is a multitude of "minigames"; complex-medical system, complex crafting == creates lots of activity for players, sets challenges == happy gamers. Not to even mention environment, dropping and rising temperatures, clothing to suit the weather etc. Smack all of this sum of complex "minigames" within dayz together, and you have a game that has: zombies and survival, environment, medical emergencies, crafting and base building, player versus player wars == EPIC WIN! I don't believe in DAYZ as a pure pvp-game where everything else is only "minor inconvenience on my way to pvp and pwn". I believe DayZ should be hard, it should be simple to get into but beneath the surfaze there should be multitude of complex systems. A true survivor game, easy to use but hard to master (even impossible!). I do believe that PVP and perma-death is essential to DAYZ, I do like bandits and I am one myself. But to wish for dumbed down survivality to have easy pvp... such a warz idea. bad.
  3. The medical side sure could use a lot of additions. What if broken bones could not be mended by a simple shot of morphine, and like you suggest, would need splint to get better. To splint a limb you'd need to have morphine (putting open fractures back together is ultra-painfull), bandages and woodsticks/splints to wrap it up with. Addictions would be sweet, like in fallout :D Characters also get pretty banged up every now and then, so how about setting up a system to simulate concussion (blurry vision, dizzyness, hearing problems)? There is much that could be added, and that could make the medical-side of dayz feel alot deeper than it currently is!

  5. LOL, ViLayer servers are the most crooked hosting I've seen in a while. They take *everything* from tunngle-forums (yes yes, this very very OBSCURE forum where most of the private-hive developers release and discuss their stuff. Very very very obscure, very very infamous. stay-away, only shady persons on this forum), and slap some "vilayer only" logos on and voilá. They are running a private server version you can acces via tunngle, with fixes made by very talented person posting his stuff on tunngle, with mod-alterations and anticheats via *shocking* tunggle-forums, with maps developed by arma2 enthusiasts and remodded with dayz and released via tunngle... ViLayer; you code, we steal is their motto. No credits given anywhere, no shits given anywhere. Actually, w/o community on Tunngle arma2 forums i dont see any way ViLayer would even have anything to host. I have seen ViLayer serverfiles, there is NOTHING there of their own except LOGO. They really are something these people. I hope dotjosh sees this too, and drops all support for ViLayer. Do community a favour and blacklist their servers from commander xD . And btw, there are lots of servers running Original Panthera, dont believe lies posted by ViLayer personel. If you dont see them in commander, just look them out yourself. I am hosting TWO servers for panthera, so geez.... *edit* ViLayer should: give credits to where they are due; for your servercode, for your fixes, for your maps and mods. if you mod on someone's base, have the common courtesy to made your files public. stop dividing playerbase with "vilayer only" crap, it does much harm to whom ever you steal your stuff from.

  7. I have found more then 4 crashed helis on a server many times. I have a "circle" that I scout; basicly just a big "circular route" starting from green mountain, then going around vybor, south of NWA, then around stary and novy sobor. I usually find three to five helis on this "route". So I think there is more than three helicrashes... but seems random! maybe 4-8 total crash-sites per server?
  8. for me the most scary situation similar to OP's has been this... on an olutta.org hosted server, daylight, about 15 players. I was low on food and looking for a compas. I had made my way through western roads to Vybor, had looted shops and deerstands on the way and gotten M4 CCO, alicepack and the basic kit. Anyways, I see Vybor, I scout it out and see no-one. Hold off, observing, wait. Wait. My food indicator is bright red, soon going to start blinking, i have to move out and make my way to the shop. So I sneak towards the shop, on the backyards of those apartment buildings (not enterable, but that have passageways and corridoors with loot) near the center of the city. Then I get into a little tight spot with Z's, have to start crawling next to a fence. I see a Zed walking right infront of me, 6 meters away maybe, its not agroing as i am in a bush and next to a concrete wall. It is passin across a road right infront of me. And then I hear a silenced shot, the zombie drops dead right in front of me. I almost shit myself, do nothing, wait... wait... wait... wait.... no-one to be seen... crawl back... stand and run the hell away from the city with a hoard of zombies behind me :D I ran in zigzag across the fields, ran untill i started loosing health because of hunger and then stopped for some beans :D I got mah beans though, from the alleyways and sheds of houses, but damn that was some scary stuff. Found the compas two days later. sorry for my bad english, not a native speaker ^^

  10. But this is it. It is not hard to get excellent gear legit with these idiotic zombies and very common helicrashes, not to mention retarded amounts of loot in general everywhere! Tonight alone i have found more then two tents full (had i picked them up) with NVG's, ghillies, FN FAL's, machineguns, AS50's and DRMs. Seventeen helicrashes in three-four hours, while at the same time looting also a few deerstands for ammo and fighting of other players. Stuff needs to be more rare. And I did not fire a single shot at the Z's on the crash-sites. They spawn, 70% of them walk bunched up in one direction, rest are easily avoided by crouching, walking and crawling. ZERO EFFORT except that of knowhing the spawn-points and knowing compas plus running. Zero effort for the best gear in game, it is amazing.
  11. Oh buu-huu. If you dont know it already: if you take stuff from a tent, the stuff will be back at the tent at next server reboot. A tent = duping factory. There is no cheating because that is actually how they work. Should it be fixed? OF COURSE IT SHOULD. But for now this is how tents work and have been doing so for a while. Now, i am not sure how people fill their tents with this most awesomesauce gear, but for sure taking stuff from someone elses tent is not cheating. BTW on the topic of finding good gear easily: in three hours today i found seventeen helicrashes (five servers, the infamous "sobor-vybor field run"). If tents would work now, I'd say my camp on my "home server" would have some awesomesauce gear piling up pretty fast.
  12. just look at dayzlingor.tk, its getting pretty popular, mod of a mod. has a ton of servers nowadays, alot less hackers then normal dayz though :) according to gamescon-vids rocket is also playing lingor!
  13. When I spawn I do this: Run to nearest farm/loot building, dont mind zombies as they wont hit you when you are running, never. Get an axe / shotgun, take some food. Continue running to Balota / Elektro / ETC and never mind the Z's just run to buildings, loot, run, loot. Example in Elektro: run to city-firestation, loot fast, run to church, loot, restaurant, loot, shop, loot, powerplant firestation. I keep going along the coast untill I have: assault rifle + ammunition, alicepack, map, compas, meds, sidearm and plenty of food. Usually this takes about ~20 minutes, can be done with 10-15mins with good spawnpoint and luck. Like the other day: spawned east of elektro, ran to firestation, got AKM, ran to church and there was someone picking up loot there, shot to the head and BAM i got myself alicepack, sidearm, compas, map and the basic survival gear. From there one I run to tents (not mine, but i mark up when i find good dupe-camps), get pro-gear and then come back to pwn the n00bs. Usually takes close to one hour to be back on cherno-hills with my gillie and rifle! Peace out and love! <3 Zombies are so silly now.. they are harmless! What needs to be done: 1. make zombies run fast inside houses 2. make zombies hit you even if you are running 3. more zombies, and make them agro easier (triple the current amount?) 4. get rid of this awfull line-of-sight agro-check system. now you can go to a spruce-tree and just press X, voila zombie agro dropped because LOS is lost. EVEN IF THE BLOODY Z IS 1 METER AWAY!! So silly :D 5. less loot, especially food and drinks are too common and ammo too. 6. make people die of getting cold, increase the factor that drops bodyheat and causes people to get infected. Finally, you have to make life out side of urban area more dangerous. Life in the wilds is too easy now. 7. add some danger to forests, they are like sanctuarys now with the exception of random players. maybe diseased wildlife? Zombie bears, wolfs and bobcats? wondering zombie-hordes?

  15. Me and my friend found a crashed "loot-pinjata" heli today on chicago 10, just south from NW-Airfield. We killed a dozen army Z's around it, and then went to take a closer look. There was no loot, we could not interact with the heli *and* the heli had a bugged minigun graphics: it looked like it was still firing (big nozzle-flame).
  16. When I logged in after the update, I did not receive dialog to change/alter my characters gender, and I had lost one tent and two piles of firewood from my character. Also, my inventory is now bugged, and I can accidentally pick up stuff that will replace stuff in my inventory. Deleted m249 magazine with a can of coke because of this... i see two empty slots in inventory, pick up pepsi, lost m249 magazine that was replaced by pepsi.
  17. Finally, awesome news! Though i'm not sure how it will panout with the current state of the game, where you are forced to relog (sometime manytimes in a row) because of bugs in either DayZ or Arma2. Example: I spawn to my character only to find out that i have 5-7 FPS, i wait a bit (30 secs?) and then i relog to the same server (go to server lobby). Log back in, see the same problem, so I disconnect from the server entirely and choose another. I log to a new server, load up my character and notice that this time my screen is flickering like mad. Then I wait for minute or two for the flickering to stop, it doesn't and OHAI relog again to get rid of it, or change server. There are atm dozens of reasons why players are forced to log-relog-disconnect in cycles, and I hope that with this "combat logout prevention" you wont create a system that punishes legit players trying to legitly log into the game and being forced to relog-spam by bugs.
  18. I get headaches and dizzynes with 1st person mode, head bobbing and limited FOV. So yeah, would suck greatly to loose the ability to play 3rd person, would actually make it pretty impossible to play. If this is the case, please remove all headbobbing and let me adjust fov so that i dont feel like puking after 30minutes of playing. Other then that I agree with majority of people: croshairs and mouse-scan should have been gone a long time ago... totally ruins the game!
  19. I have exactly the same issue. Though I dont mind, not gonna change... but still, did not get the question at all!
  20. I'd love if we would have charcoal in game... it could be found in gastasions and supermarkets, sometimes in barns. Wood should be always where there are piles of logs and chopped wood by the farm houses. Charcoal could burn twice as long as wood, as it would a bit rarer. Just my two cents on the topic!
  21. I have the same problem that everyone many people seem to be facing tonight. I died tonight, and since then I have tried to get a respawn, but all I get is random spawning all over the map. Mostly in Elektro, but in many other places too. I spawn in random locations, with random blood, random temperature, random kills and random everything. I have now died and re-spawned about 15 times to "make sure", on three different servers.
