What I predict DayZ will achieve by the end of the year.
AdmiralBull replied to TheWizard14's topic in General Discussion
What I predict DayZ will achieve by the end of the year.... That the majority of the people that spent $30 on an alpha game are still gonna be bitching about what they don't like/want in the game even if it goes to beta. The devs have already realized that they are not going to be able to please everyone in content, speed, bug fixes or any of the things we post in here to vent about.I just plan on playing it as long as I can because there is nothing else out there like it and I have been hooked on it since the first time I played the original mod.So maybe we'll get a more optimistic and positive community by the end of the year.I certainly hope so. -
Are all Stable Servers now with a new every 2 hour Reboot?

As the topic states, our server now does this. -
Are all Stable Servers now with a new every 2 hour Reboot?
AdmiralBull replied to AdmiralBull's topic in General Discussion
Yo Electi.....Not even close bright boy.I just understood it to be that the hive server was controlling certain aspects of what the stable servers were capable of.I knew that my server rented from GS was rebooting every 4 hrs. automatically and could not be adjusted to do anything otherwise. My belief was that it was out of my hands and the server provider's hands to change this until I noticed its change yesterday. All I was wanting to know was anyone else experiencing this too.So with that, get off of your high horse and bugger off. -
Alright, I am finally concerned about the standalone

This......... Great Post. -

But it does have new models with new textures and new animations that are entirely different than the original Mod.The sounds will probably be redone before its all over with too.I don't understand what your point is.So you are saying that the SA is not a new game because it possesses the same strategy/objective as the original mod? -

Glad you could clear that up for me.And so coherently stated too, I might add............Not. -

No,in your mind, you have all the answers for what is ailing this game, the devs and,the studio all in one lump sum.You know nothing about how any of it works. You just like to post shit that sounds like you do and gets others to vent about it along with you.In my experience of how things work in life,it benefits the ones who are optimistic and have hope and, remain positive. No matter the consequences. Those that constantly bitch, sit around and tell others how it should be get ignored eventually. They learn that if they want real change they have to do it themselves or STFU.So after putting in over 300 hours of the SA and almost 2 years into the original mod,I think I got my money's worth whether it goes tit's up today or finishes out in the future.I hope that it ends up well so I think I'll hang on a bit longer to see what it brings. If you don't think you have then get your money back or take a $30 loss. Its not gonna change a thing on how it progresses but, it sure will make a difference to the devs and the folks that want this to succeed. So if you have any more remarks based on the principle of spending $30 on an ALPHA still in the works, save it.Let it get to be a bit closer to the beta before bitching so much about the perfect $30 zombie survival game that YOU'VE been promised. -

The point is and, its also a matter of fact, that it will not speed up the progress of the devs or whether they choose to chuck out the whole game by all this constant useless bitching, pro or con. Those that want to play and are playing are wanting to give positive feedback and it can be critical at times but, it just seems to me in my opinion, that the majority of the folks within these forums do nothing but, bash the game for its core engine and the way that it progresses no matter what the speed. There is no one in this forum or outside of the developers, that is going to change that, period. So please give us a break, stop playing the game and stop filling the forum with a bunch of crybaby bullshit that is not going to do anything but bring everyone down when most of us want it to succeed. In the end it isn't going to change the way that it gets finished. If you don't have any faith in the end result then chalk it up to a $30 loss and be done with it. -

Well,in my opinion,I say that your opinion and the rest of the negative community should either stop playing the game and shut up,get your money back and shut up or, take a loss and shut up.Go play H1Z1,WarZ (Infestation or whatever the fuck they are calling it now) or any other zombie survival game that is out there and stop all the bitching & counter bitching for what it is worth = NOTHING.Its not gonna change the devs progression or the patient fan's opinion of DayZ SA. This community was built on and by the majority of the orginal mod(whatever version you chose to play) players of DayZ. It had bugs, all the mods there after had bugs and,we still played it in spite of that.I felt as if it where just some other hurdle I had to deal with while playing the game itself and its survival objective.I understand if some folks can't use their keystrokes and it becomes aggravating,I would be too.Have some patience and that too, will get ironed out but, only at the dev's speed and not our own personal speed. If you can't stand the fire get out of the frying pan, bitches. You were warned and continue to be warned everytime you login to the game..... -
Although this may seem as a crack at the OP but, along with him are so many others....why are folks so impatient to this game's progression? Let them (devs) do their jobs. If its not what you are happy with then, either wait or get your money back.Either get onboard and be positive about the progression and have faith or, just stop playing it and stop complaining to everyone. Please...

Is there anything being planned that incentivizes not shooting on sight?
AdmiralBull replied to alleycat's topic in General Discussion
I have been told over and over again that this Standalone has a new user base than the original mod.I have also been told that this is an alpha and it won't follow the original's path of development.I got news for you new user base players....out of 2 million copies sold so far,do you think that you are the only ones playing this game at this point? Get real. This game isn't based on real life aspects of survival. Its just another game. Please get over the fact that you cannot rely on the developers to make it a game of social decency within an (imaginary) zombie apocalypse. You have been watching too much Walking Dead which,by the way, is also fictional entertainment. If you do not like the way this game is developing or being played you have these options: 1) go play with like minded individuals on servers that cater to your particular gameplay. 2) Get your money back from Steam or trade your game out to someone else or chalk it up to a loss of $30. 3)Wait and see what develops as the devs release it to its final stage and don't play until that happens. 4)Deal with what you been given, just like the rest of us,adapt and hope you get better at it as it progresses. Other than that, STFU and stop all this BS crying over a fictional game. -
This game and several others I have played through out the years,I have often wondered why people play the way that they do within the parameters of their game of choice.I always wondered why people go to the lengths of cheating & hacking in games but, that is another subject. If you utilize all the available tools within the game to make you a competitor, why do people who don't utilize the same tools want you to stop doing what you do in order for them to feel like they can compete on an even scale? I have felt this way about such games as CoD and Battlefied for a long time and even convinced myself that I was nobler for not utilizing these/certain tactics. That anyone that would do such things to win or make them a better competitor to me was somehow selling out or being overzealous in their need to win at such a cost. I also see a pattern of people playing this particular game and with it being in current development and, voicing their wants, likes, dislikes and, suggestions trying to influence others (in game) playing and the developers to make this game something that will please their own personal experience when they are in game.I think that you should learn to play the game as well as you can as it develops and adjust accordingly once it becomes a final product. Just my two cents worth.Any other thoughts on this?

Why do people want to tell others how to play?
AdmiralBull replied to AdmiralBull's topic in General Discussion
I agree with everything you have said here.Believe me,I do think that choices made within this game brings about many consequences already(and even more in the future) at this stage of it's development.I think the problem lies within the (certain) player's choice of consequences. There are too many folks relying on the developers to rectify moral and immoral choices made by the players that do as they wish within the parameters of the game at this point.Again,I say to the folks participating in the game currently, learn to adapt & quickly because,I believe it will get harder and not any easier the more the game becomes polished. To me, the game is built to teach you not only how to survive within its world but,for you to learn how to do it quicker than the last time you started off as a fresh spawn. And that is the choice(s),whether moral or not, made by each and every player participating. -
Spawns On The East, Bet Everyone Thought It Was Stupid...
AdmiralBull replied to jacobahalls's topic in General Discussion
I thought the whole spawning thing on the coast was to allow NEW people, to the game, to orient themselves at a familiar landmark....the coast,as it was in the mod.to give them a sense of direction,in case you didn't know where North was.The majority of the players new and old(on our server),to my knowledge, don't suicide themselves to get to closer areas to meet up with others or to get to better loot spots. This is just one more thing that people do to exploit the parameters inside the game.I will be glad when we get to the stage where we can privatize our servers and keep this kind of gameplay tactics free to those who wish to exploit it on there own terms.Honestly I have never encountered so many people who don't want to truly experience what this game has to offer but, would rather change into something that suits their needs and make it as easy to play as a modern day FPS -TDM/DM type of gameplay. I always thought the tension of ANY encounter within this survival game PvE or PvP was what the game was all about to begin with. Not to just make it a huge run & gun map at every huge city that you happen to be able to easily run to.Just my two cents.... -
I played the mod until it became so saturated w/ hackers & cheaters that I had to leave it behind.I played most of the other maps that had been modded and several different mods of the original mod.I found that much of what Zeroy99's post said fit me too. I just stuck it out longer than he did. I find that this game is ultimately about survival, adapting and, overcoming. There are parameters that are setup within the game that allows you so many choices of what you can do within the vast map of Chernarus. The quest that each of us partake of is how to learn to survive, not so much the longest but,how much are you willing to lose in order to figure out how to gain it back without struggling as much as you did the last time you started from scratch? That is what I get out of the game.I try not to depend on others to help me gain my personal items within the game so that I don't become reliant on them. That is not to say that I don't play with others to help them or to kill them for my survival. It depends on the situation and the interaction each and everytime I logon to the server to play.I don't judge other folks gamestyle and tell them how to play the game. Its about choice and covering YOUR OWN ASS while in the game.Closest thing to the Walking Dead that I have ever been immersed in and I hope that it will not become hacker & cheater infested as the mod before it did. This particular mix of PvE & PvP is the best gametype and nothing out there yet has got it beat...IMHO

The problem from day one was allowing us to buy this game in pre Alpha/Alpha stage. Some folks just cannot handle the aspects of gameplay that is currently in place and cannot wait patiently enough for it to get to where the devs want to take it to.I firmly believe as others, who did play the mod, that it will become something other than what it is at the moment. The mod was much of the same way too.It evolved from the beginning of what we experienced into newer updates and ideas of gameplay within the original. Others created different versions of the mod that involved the way the folks could interact with the environment(s)/Maps,other players and, even what gear you started off with. The downside was that hacker/cheats finally took over almost every aspect of (all versions of) the game unless you had a private server to keep out the Ne'er do wells. Many things are to come of this game of survival and I, for one, look forward to seeing how it develops and learn to survive no matter what they throw at me.(Minus the hackers & cheaters of course...)

Although,I agree with you both(W3r3wolf & noobanon) I have a tendency to agree more w/ the wolf on this subject.I,too,am an old school gamer.I understand more of where he is coming from and respect the fact that he is not just looking out for his server but, his CLAN'S server.I don't blame him.I do the same for my own server and understand that he doesn't appreciate folks popping onto his server everytime it restarts(whether automatic or otherwise) to loot the hotspots and leave in 15 minutes.I don't do this or utilize this kind of gameplay to other people's servers.I stay on my own "rented" server and play with folks (members & non member Regulars) that are willing to put in time on our server and not be jumpers for loot. This smash & grab tactic is not gonna be tolerated on the server that I am the administrator of. I'll put it to you like this...If you are noted to be on the server at the time it goes down or restarted then you get a free pass back on.If not then you are going to have to wait at least a good 5-10 minutes before you will be let onto the server to do your bidding.Depends on how many folks were on to begin with and if I am in a "giving" mood. With the way that the Zeds are currently running I am quite happy to deal with them on a constant basis than to deal with monkeys running around spawnkilling/camping the hotspots and creating un-needed problems. The alpha phase is buggy enough without having to make things totally unbearable for people to come play on our server.I just refuse to allow a few jackasses to come onto the server and exploit these "bugs" that are still in place for the overall ruleset of an incomplete game.It doesn't have to be this way and it shouldn't be.And as far as I am concerned it won't be on my watch.

Once you find these hives, how do you go about getting the PW to access these private servers? I,too, have been looking to find clean non-hacked/hacking servers.I love the purity of this game/mod & wish to bring in some of my like minded friends. They are just learning the basics of the overall gameplay and are total noobs to this mod.I have been playing for a bit longer and am trying to do co-op w/ them but, am finding it hard to keep them interested in the integrity of the game.Finding it very hard for them to stay with it because of all the cheating being promoted on most servers. So any suggestions of how to go about finding these private hives and getting the PW to trusted players? Thanks for the help.
