Thanks for the kind words and I totally agree with your statement about the lighting. I do realize that this is used commonly... Again just treading lightly. Basically I was just wondering if there was anyway around it... Probably not but oh well .. -

Honestly I'm not sure, I never took the time to check I just wanted the lowest ping server. I was using DayZ Commander with the "Hide Unofficial" option checked. Thanks for the responses guys.

Damn guys no need to be so hostile lol. Calling me an idiot for being a new forum user who doesn't want to mess up straight away by posting what could possibly be construed as an exploit? Yes it's a built in function of the ARMA engine. That doesn't mean its "working as intended" for DayZ. And the thing I'm talking about isn't JUST the gamma slider... Also I never said it was super secret lol. "I know I'll ignore the question and just rag on the OP... great idea" -
I tried searching for an explanation to this but couldn't find one. In my adventures I came across a couple of people who had an SUV. Thankfully they didn't kill me (they had plenty of opportunity) and let me ride with them for a while. They logged out or were kicked and I was left with the SUV.. (woohoo!) I noticed that sometimes when I looked at the SUV an action would be added tagged "Save SUV". It was very intermittent. Could anyone please explain what the functionality of this is. Does it do anything at all? Was the SUV made from a script or something? Thanks in advance...

Pretty much yeah... The more I think about it the more I feel it will probably be impossible to find a workaround given the variance in people's hardware. (Monitors, GPU's etc) Something I'll just have to live with i guess B) -
This forum shows me why DayZ has become a kill on sight playground... anyway... I would suggest playing the demo of ARMA2 if you have never played the vanilla game. It will give you a great idea of the control system and how it basically functions. If you don't enjoy ARMA2 you probably won't enjoy DayZ. However, if you are an ARMA2 fan and also a Zombie fan... this game is for you imho...

I was just wondering if anyone knows what the night-time lighting system will be like in stand alone. At the moment there is a simple exploit that I don't want to mention here but it has to do with being able to see at night without assistance from torches etc. I'm just hoping this will be fixed for standalone so it doesn't remove anything from the atmospheric/immersive elements of the game.

There's that Q&A with Rocket talking about rebuilding a lot of things from the ground up and the version of engine being used. From what I could gather, the engine was going to be somewhere between ARMA 2 and 3. I was sold on it when I read "ragdoll physics" :D Also, I'm not saying there will be a point where we will see no bugs, I'm just saying its early days for a mod of this quality and it seems a lot of people are getting impatient ;)

Lol yeah i totally get it, but also... Would you prefer that Rocket didn't release it until Beta or even later in dev?

A lot of people don't seem to realise that this game is in ALPHA STAGE or do not understand what that means. If you are unsure of what Alpha, Beta and Gold mean in gaming cycle terms then please read this... http://en.wikipedia....ease_life_cycle In a nutshell, expect bugs. There is no point in whinging about it. Rocket has provided us with an awesome Mod/Game for no cost to us. He deserves our praise and respect, not haters hating... Just my opinion but I'm new to these forums and I'm already annoyed by all the whiners who don't understand what they're talking about. The only reason we are seeing these bugs is because Rocket was so nice as to release the unfinished version to the public. Anyway back to the fray...

OP.. Great job! I'm a long time ARMA (Operation Flashpoint) player, DayZ newbie and first time poster... so hey guys... My first login on a DayZ server didn't last very long... not because I didn't like it (it's freakin awesome thankyou for this game!), but because I was ignorant and died rapidly. Needless to say I needed some edumacating... My next login i found an AK Kobra within 5 minutes and had set myself up in a nice cosy corner of the docks :) Again... Great tips thanks!
