Anyone run well with AMD processors? Concerned with cpu intensive settings and res. Helpful if you include avg and low on higher pop servers in large cities.

FPS Issues (Probably connected with the intergrated graphics card)
Prototype771 replied to mz0flick's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Integrated graphics are an alien part of intel (and amd) for me. AS far as i know, the integrated chip should be "turned off" when you are using a dedicated GPU (ex: GTX 560) If you have your monitor plugged into the mobo's VGA ports, then there's your problem. Also keep in mind, this engine is buggy, and the i7s usually experience problems. I have yet to see an i5 user have problems due to the CPU. -
Built A Computer. Will It Run It At A Stable FPS?
Prototype771 replied to vtmz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hate to "bump", but this is what AMD vs Intel comes down to: Gaming vs Rendering (and misc). Most Intel users "Hate" on the AMDs due to the fact that they [usually] do not perform as well in fields that Intel excels in, and likewise AMD beating Intel. For a gamer's standpoint, Intel is the preferred chip due to the fact games usually run 2 -4 cores. AMD chipsets generally carry threadcounts that allow for the cPU to fake a hex core and etc. Even the i3 3220 has 2 fake cores (threads). I am an Intel user myself, but I would never rule out an AMD. Here's a comparison of each chip for each field based on what I know about each chipset: AMD: Gaming -Used in budget builds -Usually slower than similar intel chips (even when boasting higher GHz speeds) -Not optimized Intel: Gaming -More expensive -lower clock speeds than AMD (regarding similar chipsets) -Optimized AMD builds however aren't always worst. If a builder know exactly what to do, the proper AMD build is relatively fast, and in some cases, faster than the Intel builds. Now, we move on: AMD: Rendering -Due to having more cores and usually much more threads than Intel, heavy rendering programs LOVE the AMDs, and these things EXCEL -Cheap option for rendering -Optimized Intel: Rendering -Higher Price tag -Lower clock speeds -Not optimized for JUST dual/quad/hex cores AMD renders better than Intel in this category Again, there are instances where Intel may outperform, but AMD usually boasts better performance. For gaming, the Intel i3 3220 actually is a really nice chip for the price, and performs exceptionally well for gaming. i5s are the preferred chip, but for a budget build, the i3 will get the job done. It's in multiplayer that we begin to see the gap between the i3 and i5. FOR OVERCLOCKERS: AMDs are nice overclocking machines. You can match the Intel if your machine is well oiled at high clock speeds (i.e over 4.5 ghz). AMDs are neat chips, and the user can learn more about computers as it is much of a hands on build than what Intels chips can be, due to the fact many are locked, allowing for little to none for OCing. Whilst 5.2 may sound unrealistic, it is entirely possible. I know people who have nice machines that boast AMDs running at colossal clock speeds, but keep in mind, cooling is a must. One of the users on here posted a screenshot of "5.2 GHz" I believe this is not a correct calculation, and for stock air cooling, 4.4 is a reasonable speed. Keep in mind 5.2 isnt impossible, but it requires more than stock cooling. Now, whether photoshopped or not, the image may be showing a confliction between bios and Windows. On my Intel rig, Windows overrides my bios and puts it to lower clock speeds. His CPUz may be showing what the bios is showing, but also showing what the computer is actually running (ie volts and stuff) *Also note, I may have mixed up some info, so take this post with caution, and do the research yourself, But in the end, this is the outcome Intel>AMD in gaming, AMD>Intel Rendering. -
Prototype 771 (also known as The 771 Project in some cases) The # 771 originated from Forza Motorsports 3. I also used the number 96 because it was my racing number. So, On one of my racecars I was customizing, the 96 didn't fit in with the design. So it struck me, why not make a new number. So, first #s i thought of were 777, 111, and 117. I figured the 117 is used too much, 777 is too, and 111 is too damn lazy. So, 771 went through my mind. GENIUS! This number surprisingly was never used before (by what I know) and I haven't ever seen someone bear these numbers, EVER. Not in license plates, racing numbers, Serial numbers, and I'm like wtf, id think itd be more common of a number. So, since then, it has stuck on with me like a child. It is my new racing number as well (as of like 2 years ago) and have dropped my old 96 number. Now, on XBL, i was Fastkarter96 or something, and alot of people would bag on my name and modify it extensively. "Fat Karter 96", Fast farter 96" etc. It wasn't that cool from that point on, so I thought Prototype sounded cool. I honestly never saw that word being used extensively anywhere so it fitted perfectly with 771 (pronounced seven-seven-one). So, I began to obsess with 771, so I started doing minecraft artwork, skins, and such and named it "The771Project" . 771 Began to reshape who I was (which is really odd, and you probably think I'm on crack) and became me. I was 771. Now I dont literally mean i am a number lmao, it just was what identified me from other people. There's my story, and I hope you had some fun reading. YOu have alot more to do in the other posts too XD

Ok, so there is a fair fight going on here. Whilst we know the thermal does give an advantage, the gun itself is pretty weak considering. I do like the gun but there's a reason why this gun isn't much of a problem (if you dont have a sniper). It lacks range to snipe. So why is this gun such a problem? Your Sniper rifles are the problem. The AS50 sniper rifle with the CWS l85 IS overpowered. Granted these are rare spawns, script kiddies will be glad to hand a n00b these guns. So, how to actually fix this. For now, I voted replace the gun for the sake of the AS50 being in the mod (and the other OP sniper, forgot the name). I love the DMR, M14, and the M24. They all are fun to play with, but your .50 caliber snipers cause the problem for people complaining about the gun. So, to solve this problem, wipe out the 50 cal sniper rifles. Now, I will get flamed for that sentence, but use logic here. Those guns can shoot up to like 1/5th of the map or whatever the stats were, and although they were made to be rare, people still duplicate the ammo/guns. I have been killed too many times by these guns simply because they really are not hard to find anymore due to the amount of script kiddies in the game now. To combat this, get rid of some of the things that they often use. If anything, wipe those 50 cals and replace them with more gun variants for assault rifles, pistols, SMGs, and entry level weapons. Also, mud roll is silly in my opinion. It is an interesting idea, but the thermal scope itself isn't really a problem. Add a gamma restrictor. Monitors (and win7) already have gamma correctors and such. The game really doesnt need it. I personally want to see people use flashlights and chemlights and flares more often. They are always leftovers from loot spawns and not using them ruins the "survival" feel. SUMMARY FOR QUICK READERS! -take out as50 and other 50 call guns -keep l85 cws and add variants for the l85 -to compensate for the loss of 50 cals, add more guns/accessories and variants. Not hard to do -dont add in "mud roll" not practical in the game and is really kind of silly. -dont add thermal goggles, they dont even exist in the game (that im aware of at least) -PvP in this game should be based more off of CQB, not really long range combat, ARs are fine however -lock gamma to default. People are too lazy to correct their own monitors so thats why it was put there in the first place. make them work to "cheat"
