  1. I think a limited system where there are no set levels would be okay and fit with the game style. The number of times a task (Like bandaging something) has to be completed is random. Upon reaching the set number you will achieve a small decrease in the time it take to do said task (but only said task). (Like now, everyone can do everything, just some people can do it faster). This would be reset upon death. I don't believe that there should be an RPG like style skill system where you can spend 'skill points' on shit like you'd spend money on an item. Also how are materials for base construction going to be gathered? Because I just can't see some one running backwards and forward with an I Beam ferrying it from place to 'base' P.S. I don't have redit; can I just post my ideas on this thread?
  2. Don't kill people for starters. Play on low pop servers with friends whom you can perform medical assistance on when needed
  3. Heat packs are very useful on Namalsk and you can use empty food containers as a weapon (they can give a player broken bones) or to distract zombies
  4. A server that has it's own private player 'database' (hive) rather than using the official 'database' (hive). As a result they can run different maps, loot spawns, starting load outs, vehicles and vehicle spawns. They also have custom banned lists and a (usually) dedicated admin
  5. Tips: Kill players with this skin http://www.dayzwiki.com/wiki/File:Skin_Bandit.png Avoid players with this skin http://www.dayzwiki.com/wiki/File:Skin_Survivor.jpg And it's generally safe to approach players with this skin http://www.dayzwiki.com/wiki/File:Skin_Hero.png Be in a group: People are less likely to f*** with you
  6. You ever used a grenade in a fire fight? It blows your ear off. Actually get single player and 'hack' in a chopper. Then fly it into a tree with your head phones on at loud. But yeah shooting someone with a high powered gun and it making you temporarily deaf as well as them exploding into a gorey mess would be cool. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I recall Rocket saying that he wanted to add in gore, but it would mean that it couldn't be released in Australia or something.
  7. I find that the biggest potentual problems with base building would be the UI and building mechanic and the collection of materials. Like how would materials be carried. A Half Life like carrying system seems to be the most logical way.
  8. All that for a Stupid Useless Vehichle
  9. When I first started playing DayZ I though that maybe 1 in 10 were bandits and I went in with a similar idea to yours. I got a shock when it was the other way round. I now always play with a friend and have the following rules: Bandit=KoS Survivor=Especially cautious and have at least one member of group on them at all times. Then try to leave. Hero=Give stuff to them. Lot less cautious @OP Tips to try and avoid your issues 1. Play on low Pop servers. 2. Get Hero skin. 3. Try and play in a group. 4. Avoid people. 5. Don't attract attention to your self 6. General common sense. Eg; no firing a Lee Enfield in the middle of Cherno.
  10. But if a kill cam is added you could know where you were shot from IMO snipers aren't a problem just the humanity system. Make there be more incentives in not being a bandit. The current system is shit house to say the least. As for things not wanted, probably nothing that changes the game to much. Like Minecraft, really liked it when I started playing it but to many changes killed it for me.
  11. I THINK that alt+F4 only works when you are not in combat other wise it works OR it brings up the menu from where you can abort. I don't think that it's bad to fight fire with fire, IMO it's okay to use an illegitimate means to get rid of an illigitimate problem. When I played DayZ before the 1.7.3 Patch, as my friend and I had fairly similiar gear, when ever my friend or I died due to a hacker or glitch we would 'copy' the gear using a bug where if you stood up, had a sidearm equipped, a zombie chasing you and aborted it would create a dead copy which you could loot. We also had a back up tent on a server incase we both died.
  12. It WAS bad enough with Wire fencing kits I just hope it wouldn't get to out of control. However you can get satchel charges and use them similarly.
  13. Super retarded happy ending where the zombies turn into nice vegetarian zombies and all the bandits are owned with a spoon. Don't forget the hero defeating the entire Russian/Ametican army singlehandedly while they are trying to nuke it
  14. The last time I played DayZ my friend and I drove our Hilux away from the NWAF. As were driving on the south side road towards the barracks we saw a player killing Zeds. We then received Assualt and Sniper rifle fire. I was driving and just hit the floor. We then left the barracks that we were heading to, to it's peace as they would probably go there as we were headed there. We drove straight past the barracks and hit a concrete wall at high speed then a wire mesh fence at low speed. Drove off to Stary Sobor, as we were driving in I heard a gunshot. Cautiously I set a bear trap at the drivers side of the car. We were doing a stealth proning thing when another player spots us. They are in Camo Clothing which means that there either a Bandit trying to cover it up or a Noob. Any way we head back to the vehicle and they are follow us. He asks if we can team up and we politely decline. He then runs off and we sprint to the vehicle. I get in on the passengers side and transfer to the drivers in the vehicle. We then drive off when suddenly they reappear and spray into the vehicle. We then panicked and alt-F4'ed (Noobie I know). Long story short; we lost a vehicle with yummy loot from the NWAF and both got owned. My friend tried this revenge thing that eventually failed and I haven't played DayZ since.
  15. DayZ in neither Strict PvP or PvE but a collaboration of both. That's what sets it apart and makes it unique. PS I think that the whole bandit/PvP system needs to be revised as theres no real difference between being a bandit or a survivor. As for the hacking I can't comment but there was this one server that I used to play on were we think the admin was a hacker, as when ever you moved a Ural spawned on your head. (on that server we lost a Makarov SD that we found). I think when you purchase Standalone you should have to do a voice test before you can buy. Less COD Kids who think that the point of every game is to shoot shit.
  16. Man I know the feeling. I need to get hold of a graphics card before I can play anything. My motherboards in-built card is a piece of shit that couldn't run shit for shit.
  17. Wow this topic has just revived it's self. My longest character was about 25 days. I started messing around with one of my friends (a real friend irl). He took it the wrong way and shot my with MY M14 that I gave him then left. We were talking over Skype and I called him a *************************
  18. In the new inventory system in standalone weapons aren't listed as 'primary' or 'secondary' but rather just a weapon (I could be wrong tho, not entirely sure)
  19. WTF is this ^^^? Apart from logs
  20. wha? That message is usually sent by retarded 'trolls' in global chat. Is it on the chat/notices bar or is it in the middle of the screen? If its on the chat bar then its nothing... ignore it. If not I don't know
