I have the same GPU/CPU as him and have "tried everything", so I will counter your post. Using any settings higher than the lowest settings does not increase FPS for me. It results in a noticable drop in FPS. I've read elsewhere that only the shadows video option is rendered on CPU when set to "low" and GPU at ~"medium" settings. If he's truly running it on lowest, he has shadows disabled meaning this is irrelevant. The rest of his config looks perfectly normal to me, it doesn't look like he has tried any optimization advice like setting sceneComplexity, disablign vSync and setting GPU_MaxFramesAhead/GPU_DetectedFramesAhead. That said, he should try out all video settings himself. It wouldn't be a bad idea for him to reset the config, though I highly doubt it would increase his FPS. I'm certain he has all that "nonsense" in his command line because he didn't get good frames in the first place. -exthreads=7 increases my fps as opposed to lower values. -world=empty does nothing but improve startup time, but increases load times. -maxvram2047 should be the proper setting for our GPU, though our GPU doesn't come close to maxing out memory so this affects nothing. -cpucount=8 has no effect since it's autodetected. -malloc-system is questionable, but I've tried every malloc option and see no significant improvements.

The image won't look sharp unless it's on your native resolution. Pick what you hate the least, blurriness or low FPS. Any resolution below your native should give you a boost. FXAA Sharp Filter is a video setting that sharpens the image, it can make the image appear less blurry but it will never be as good as if you just used your native resolution. I don't know about image tearing but my monitor is high end and never tears, I would strongly advise against using vsync but in your case you may have to.

How to use Steam Overlay with Retail ArmA 2?
Naka (DayZ) replied to Senatov (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Just use Process Explorer, launch DayZ normally, right click ArmaAO.exe in process explorer, go to Properties and copy the "Command Line" and use that as the path to your game in Steam. -
Same processor and GPU, tried everything, you're out of luck unless you want to OC or decrease resolution. Overclocked my CPU +1GHZ (have a large 60$ cooler on it) and I manage to get a decent FPS boost. 30-40 in cities, now. 50-80 outside cities. For me, CPU usage isn't near max but OCing the CPU somehow increases both CPU and GPU usage for me, now GPU usage is ~50-55 as opposed to 30%. Since we seem to be CPU limited, close any applications that may use CPU (especially Six Launcher). May want to try setting audio settings to lowest, though don't know if it has any impact on CPU usage. I have an SSD and a RAM drive didn't help, but you should try since you have 16GB. Decreasing your resolution should give you the biggest FPS boost. Try 50% of 1080p with FXAA sharp filter on to counteract the blurriness.

Barbed wire file location? idea to fix artifacts!

You can't. The game will kick you for modified files. -

There's no need to get frustrated over loading times. Set your game to Windowed mode, add -noPause to the game's parameters and alt tab out while the game is loading. Enjoy some web browsing and keep an eye on ArmA in the background.

I just had this. Someone told me to kill them and take their "shit" which was an AKS-74 Kobra and other goodies. As soon as I put it in my inventory I was kicked with this message. Maybe they were hacked items or something, it was humorous.

I know this is offtopic but don't act like that just because you're an "everday" folk. Cheat engine is an incredibly popular program, just yesterday I used it to set myself to infinite lives in a single player shooting game. Having it running accidentally shouldn't EVER warrant a ban, it's easy to change cheat engine's source code and have it avoid detection completely, therefor ACs should detect the memory edits, not the memory editor.

Post here if Game is unplayable for you due to Low FPS
Naka (DayZ) replied to Irenicus (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I never doubted lowering the res decreases your FPS. The keyword in my post is "try" since native resolution is default (if not, who coded this game?! oh wait, Bohemia interactive). I have a written assignment due soon, would you like to write another essay for me? :) -
Under options>controls you can set "Y Axis: Reversed". I assume this works for the controller.

Quoting for probable truth. Spreading information on forums is like playing Chinese whispers. Thanks for confirming, I was unsure about that. Ahuh... To anyone reading, ignore his post and try decreasing 3d resolution, it has the largest impact on my performance. Turning up FXAA sharp filter helps a bit with the loss of visibility caused by low resolutions. I read that object detail doesn't affect how far away you can see players at all... But things like doorways in houses won't appear at low object detail from a distance, reducing your ability to see players... There's an edit button below your post. Unless postcounts make you hard, you can use it to avoid doubleposting. -
For the love of god and all thats holy when is 1.7.2.5 coming
Naka (DayZ) replied to kik's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I couldn't care less if it's fixed at the moment, the game's dead until another BattleEye patch or BI changes some of their code to prevent simple script hacks (a few hacks exploded in popularity on cheat websites yesterday) you're not missing much. Are you seeing this bug in all locations? It only happens to me in a very specific location, never otherwise. I would suggest just avoiding the buggy areas (obviously, you knew that.) -

Naka (DayZ) replied to Irenicus (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
And yet turning up HDR is one of the biggest killers of my FPS, object quality being the biggest. Not sure what you're getting at by your post, as I mostly just talked about the settings that can't be disabled. Where is everyone getting the idea that ArmA renders things on GPU only on high settings? GPU usage is low and CPU usage is rather high, so this seems to be incorrect. Perhaps the engine is running differently on different computers? Either way, players should go to the video options and test all configurations to see what gives them the best FPS. For me, lower always provides better FPS with no exceptions. -

Overclocking my CPU seems to help. 3.6GHz to 4.5GHZ, for some reason CPU usage increased and GPU usage doubled with this overclock. This is strange behavior.
