Ya, I guess I should have clarified. If you are 10 feet from someone and shoot them in the temple or something... I was basically just comparing it to the makarov damage, which it would be considerably less than at close range and maybe slightly more at long range. Also, many areas of the head would not be instant death, and I think it is all just one hit box in game. Edit: To be perfectly clear: It is reasonable to think a person can die to 1 .22 shot to the head. It is reasonable to think a person can live after 1 .22 shot to the head. I think 2 headshots to kill a person would be better for gameplay! (:

So, I know this suggestion is not very exciting, adding a new crap tier rifle and all... I was just thinking, guns are so powerfull in DayZ. That is fine, realistic, cool. Then I thought of a rifle that is realisticaly very low powered and also, at least in the USA quite common. The .22 rifle! Basically, my concept would be a rifle that is common, has a low magnification scope, shoots about as fast as the Lee Enfield and kills a zombie in 1 headshot or like 8 body shots. It would take 2 headshots to kill a normal person, or a metric ton of body shots. Basicaly a very quiet zombie killing gun before you get something good. What do you guys think about adding low tier guns to the game? I know there are tons of suggestions on the higher end guns, what are some ideas for crap tier guns?

I am trying to figure out a way to please as many people as possible. Here is the deal, DayZ, after you have played your first few hours/lives is much more fun with a friend. I (or my friend) will often suicide to zombies or off a cliff in order to respon and not have to mindlessly run for 10+ minutes. So, this can be mostly fixed with 2 easy steps (I think). 1. New players only spawn on the south beach. (between Kamenka and Electro) 2. New players are spawned as closely as possible in longitude (like east to west) to their designated friends, but always on the beach.

Great idea. It is kind of lame getting to the edge and seeing the flat nothingness. Just please only spawn people on the south beaches. Lingor is really difficult to play with friends because you spawn all around the map and have no clue how to get anywhere unless you are using an online map. Using an online map is a bit lame and it is really lame if it is required to play with friends...

Sniper Rifles and Sniper Role Changes.

Really great OP. I would have a few suggestions though. I really like sniping, but only when it is challenging. I think the best "role" of a sniper in Dayz would be something along the lines of camping a hill and watching over your friends who are raiding a town. Camping an area to kill random assult rifle noobs is borring and a bit lame. I have done it yes, but mostly to practice and for some looting. Just some clarification, bolt action should have more volocity than semi auto, also barrol length has an effect. This being said I think that the damages should maybe start at something a little lower, like say 7k and go up along the same lines. The fainting when being shot is a great idea but I think 30 seconds is way too long. Basicaly they will bleed out by then even if you don't get a second shot. I mean, you shoot them for 9k, they bleed for 30 seconds and then they have to run to cover and bandage. I think they can faint for about 5 seconds, this gives you a chance to finish them off but also makes you have to line up a different shot, adding a bit of difficulty. Thermal scopes are really lame in this game, as they pretty much nullify sneaking. (also rabbits will freak you out) I would like to see the SVD, M24, and 50 cal. much more rarly, but I think most of that could just be from hackers and people looting hackers. It would cool if a group of 3 or 4 people had only one 50 cal. that they could give to the best sniper among them.
